Seduce the Darkness by Gena Showalter

The war between otherworlders and humans changed Earth beyond recognition.  It also saved Bride McKell’s life.  Before, the gorgeous vampire was a target for every fanatic with a stake and a crucifix.  Now, she’s free to roam the streets-and desparate to find others of her kind.  One man claims to have the answers she seeks.  Devyn, King of the Targons, is a warrior and a womanizer, and he makes no secret of how much he wants Bride-and how dangerous he could be to her in every way.

And avid collector or women, Devyn easily seduces human and otherworlder alike.  Unlike now.  Not only does Bride resist him, but she leaves Devyn feeling something entirely new…a bone-deep need bordering on obsession.  Her blood is teh key to curing a vicious alien disase, but helping Bride uncover her origins will compel her to choose between electrifying passion and destiny that could tear her from Devyn’s side forever.

Gena Showalter’s most recent book out in 2009 Seduce the Darkness is another thriller with agents and Aliens working together finding romance.

I liked this one Devyn the womanizer was entertaining to read and to see how he was getting whipped by one little vampire who didn’t know about being a vampire.  I liked how he used all this charm on Bride but she would not fall for that type of charm, even though she wanted to.

There were times when the book fell a little flat with the story.  I found myself drifting off a little when I was reading, but most of the time it was very impressive.  Showalter knows what she is doing when writing her fight scenes and very sensual scenes.

As usual the plot and characters were fun  and enjoyable to read.

Her next book is coming later this year.  So now I wait for her next story on the Alien Huntress  series.

Blacklisted by Gena Showalter

High school senior Camille Robins and her best friend are determined to snag the attention of their crushes before graduation next month.  Armed with red-hot outfits and killer hair, the sneak into the hottest nightclub in town-which caters to the rich and famous, both human and alien.  They end up following Erik (who is human) and Silver (who isn’t) through a guarded door and are soon separated and under attack…and not the good kind.

Bad boy Erik spares Camille’s life, but the two are soon being chased by gun-toting Alien Investigation and Removal agents.  Camille’s more confused than ever because Erik’s finally showing real interest in her, but the agents are accusing him of dealing Onadyn-a drug that ruins human lives.  Suddenly, with the heat of his kiss lingering on her lips, Camille has to decide whose side she’s on…and whether she’s willing to put her life on the line to save Erik’s.

The fourth book of Alien Huntress series is Blacklisted.  This novel is a continuation of Red Handed set in the teen genre for Showalter.

I liked this novel not as much as the third book but this one was good to read.  The main character Erik is a fun character to read about.  The whole time you are thinking what is going on.  He is good, now he is bad.

The new girl, Camille is priceless.  She is a strong character and intriguing with her need to be with Erik.

I liked that you got to read about the young recruites who were now full on agents.

The fourth book was interesting and intriguing to read.  Showalter keeps her characters real and dynamic.

Red Handed by Gena Showalter

The third edition to the Alien Huntress series surprised me.  I thought it was just going to be another book to the series but instead Red Handed was a teen book.  That caught me off guard because all her books have been adult fiction.  I was excited to see how she would incorporate the genre into a Teen novel.

Phoenix Germaine has been trying to earn back her mother’s trust after going into rehab and kicking Onadyn-teh drug of choice for New Chicago teens.  But when a party in the woods turns into an all-out battle with the most ferocious aliens Phoenix has never seen, she’s brought home in what appears to be an Onadyn-induced state.  Hello, reform school.

Except, what her mother doesn’t know is that Phoenix has just been recruited to join the elite Alien Invesigation and Removal agency, where she’ll learn to fight dirty, track hard, and destroy the enemy.  Her professional training will be rigorous and dangerous, and the fact that one of her instructors is Ryan Stone-the drop-dead gorgeous, nineteen year-old agent she met in the woods that night-doesn’t make things any easier.  Especially when dating him is totally against the rules…

Gena Showalter showed that she is dynamic with being a teen novel into the series.  The characters and plot were interesting and correlated to the series.

I liked that you got to read about the school where the agents were made.  I like the fact that Mia who was from the first book was involved in the recruiting of the teens.

In the book there is the mention of a drug which many kids use.  The main girl Phoenix uses but stops and she wants to be better.  I liked that it was a struggle.  Showed a very realistic person going through an addiction.

Since this is a teen book there are sensual scenes but Showalter cuts it down from her other novels, which is apporpriate.  But there is still plenty of fighting.

Enslave Me Sweetly by Gena Showalter

Gena Showalters second novel of Alien Huntress series, Enslave Me Sweetly, was amazing to read.  From the first page to the last I had the book in my hands not stopping for a break.

Eden Black walks among humans, protecting them from the murderous evil of other-worlders who abduct and enslave.  And though she appears to be human herself, Eden is an alien, a Raka, distinguished by her golden hair and skin, and gifted with the ominous ability to kill without remorse-and with total accuracy.  That is, until the fateful night she has one to eliminate her target, a human slaver-and misses.

“Failure” is not in Eden’s vocabulary.  Neither is “partner”-but that’s what she is forcibly assigned after recovering from her disastrous mission.  A sexy steely-nerved human agent, Lucius Adaire enjoys nothing more than sparking the fury-and rousing the desire-of the fiery female assassin too proud to admit defeat.  Locked in an assignment they cannot afford to lose, Lucius and Eden find themselves bound in two high-stakes, heart-pounding games: the sensual web of kill or be killed, and the erotic dance of seduction.

The second book was a hit for me.  I was awed by the novel with the characters and plot that enthralled me.  I think one of the best things about this novel was the fact that the two had such fantastic diaglogue.  I was on the edge of my seat reading how the two interacted with each other.  It was funny, sensual, and intriguing.

I liked the plot as well.  This time the woman is the alien and she needs the human to help her even if she wouldn’t admit it.  But the concept of selling off these woman was interesting because it is something that happens but here instead of all humans there are aliens in the mix.

I loved the sequel of Alien Huntress series.  Gena Showalter delivers her second novel of the series with triumph.

Awaken Me Darkly by Gena Showalter

Braving a new author I tried one of her series which only contained two books.  Now I am moving on to the series Alien Huntress which so far have a total of seven books.  Will I like these as much as the other series?  Turning the back cover over I read the summary…

In a time and place not too far away, Mia Snow is an alien huntress for the New Chicago Police Department.  Heading up her expert team of Alien Investigation and Removal agents, Mia’s unmatched at battling the elusive enemy among us, and she’s the perfect girl for the job.  She’s seen her brother die at the hands of aliens.  She’s earned each of her scars.  And she’ll die before she cries.  Now, a series of killings have Mia and her partner Dallas tracking alien suspects-but a sudden blast of violence leaves Dallas fighting for his life.

The chance to save Dallas appears in the form of a tall, erotic stranger.  An alien.  A murder suspect.  Kyrin en Arr, of the deadly Arcadian species, holds the power to heal the injured agent but not without a price.  For Mia Snow, that price is surrendering to Kyrin’s forbidden seduction…and embracing their electric attraction.  She’s walking a knife’s edge, risking her badge and even her life.  The closer she gets to Kyrin, the more Mia learns about her own heart, her human needs-and the shocking secret that will shatter everything she’s ever believed.

I was floored by the story of the characters and enthralled by the concept of aliens.  The aliens in this series are not the little green men but multiple types of exotic looking beings.  I liked the idea of the aliens.

The plot you knew something was off with Mia but not sure of the exact details.  You had a hunch but there of course was a little twist.

The sensual scenes  were really well done between the two characters.

I like the concept behind the novel as it is a thriller with paranormal romance thrown into the mix.  I liked the fact that this story was a cop thriller but a thriller in the near future.

Gena Showalter gives us her first novel of the series Alien Huntress and she brought a sense of humor, sensuality, and adventure.

The Stone Prince by Gena Showalter

Reading one book from Gena Showalter and I found myself hooked. Her style of wit and sensual characters/plot were incredible to read. They were enticing to read about.  I was lucky to find Showalter as an author with reading her first book Catch a Mate which was unbelievable.  I knew that she was an author to look out for.  So now I venture off to one of her series. The first book of the series Imperia is The Stone Prince.

Katie James is unlucky in love-so unlucky she’s been reduced to kissing the marble statue in her own garden. But her luck changes when the statue warms to life in her arms-and turns out to be a hunk straight out of any woman’s fantasy! Well, almost…Jorlan en Sarr hails from a distant planet and like all the other men Katie’s known, he ocmes with a lot of baggage.

Entombed in his stony skin for centuries, Jorlan has been waiting for a maiden fair to break the spell. Yet this statuesque beauty with the will of an Amazon and kisses like flame is a far cry from the obedient damsels of Imperia. And though Jorlan is tempted to abandon all for the sake of Katie, unless he can convince her to give him her heart in two weeks time, he’ll be turned back to stone. And she’ll be lost to him forever.

I loved this book. The Stone Prince was not the most original idea but I like the added in with Jorlan being an alien of kinds. The book was witty and fun to read.

The characters of the five brothers were priceless. They brought a lot of human and cavemen attitudes to the book but then so did Jorlan. Katie though was her own cavewoman which I loved. She didn’t take the crap thrown at her and stood up for herself. She didn’t obey or become a meek little woman.

Gena Showalter shows that love can start from anywhere even a statue.
