Final Target is the fourth and final book to the series Wind Dancer by Iris Johansen. I have loved this series since I have read them years ago. There is action, drama, betrayal, violence and love all in the mix. But the act of love is hard for the characters especially in the previous ones. I will say that as a whole the series was great. This book was great just not my absolute favorite of the series, but it was well written and it pulled me in the action that took place in the book.

I liked Melissa and this different ability she had. These dreams and visions she had was interesting and it made the book more for me. I liked how she had created that bond with Cassie and one with Michael, which was really Cassie’s bond. Michael was shifty at times but you knew he was a good guy. He just was a little ruthless when it came to getting things he wanted. I like how Johansen spins her story but I felt that with the romance that happened between Melissa and Michael was really more of an after thought. For me I thought the romance wasn’t even needed because the story for me was all about the dreams and these bad guys that were after them. You did not need for Melissa and Michael to start something during that time period. Of course I still liked that they were together and had that happy ending as it resulted all the characters to have a good conclusion for all the good guys.

The Stone Prince by Gena Showalter

Reading one book from Gena Showalter and I found myself hooked. Her style of wit and sensual characters/plot were incredible to read. They were enticing to read about.  I was lucky to find Showalter as an author with reading her first book Catch a Mate which was unbelievable.  I knew that she was an author to look out for.  So now I venture off to one of her series. The first book of the series Imperia is The Stone Prince.

Katie James is unlucky in love-so unlucky she’s been reduced to kissing the marble statue in her own garden. But her luck changes when the statue warms to life in her arms-and turns out to be a hunk straight out of any woman’s fantasy! Well, almost…Jorlan en Sarr hails from a distant planet and like all the other men Katie’s known, he ocmes with a lot of baggage.

Entombed in his stony skin for centuries, Jorlan has been waiting for a maiden fair to break the spell. Yet this statuesque beauty with the will of an Amazon and kisses like flame is a far cry from the obedient damsels of Imperia. And though Jorlan is tempted to abandon all for the sake of Katie, unless he can convince her to give him her heart in two weeks time, he’ll be turned back to stone. And she’ll be lost to him forever.

I loved this book. The Stone Prince was not the most original idea but I like the added in with Jorlan being an alien of kinds. The book was witty and fun to read.

The characters of the five brothers were priceless. They brought a lot of human and cavemen attitudes to the book but then so did Jorlan. Katie though was her own cavewoman which I loved. She didn’t take the crap thrown at her and stood up for herself. She didn’t obey or become a meek little woman.

Gena Showalter shows that love can start from anywhere even a statue.

Bride by Command by Linda Winstead Jones

Reading the back of the book I knew that I didn’t want to wait to read the first two books.  The first two talk about the Emperor Jahn and his potential brides but in the first two, two of his potential brides are getting married to the men they truly love.  Of course after reading the book which was so entertaining I was interested in what happened in the previous books.

Lady Morgana Ramsdam is an ordinary pampered young lady of 25 years of age who has been privileged all her life but refuses to marry until love is found.  But that is not the true reasoning behind Morgana’s method for she holds a secret that kills.  Morgana has the ability to kill with the touch of her hand when angered.  She proves this as a young man comes after her and tries to rape her.  Morgana places her hand on him and within seconds he becomes dust.  Morgana knew at that moment she must never be married.  But life is not that easy for Morgana for her stepfather will make the decision to marry her off to a sentinel that came to bear the news of the Emperor.  Since Morgana refuses the Emperor the sentinel, who is really the Emperor decides to marry her in this disguise.

Jahn is only having a little fun but he knew he would not consummate this marriage without telling her the truth.  He was intrigued by Morgana’s refusal and wanted to play a trick on her but the trick will be on him in the end.  Morgana now nicknamed “Ana” by Jahn will agree to becoming his wife after she understands the way that he makes her feel.  Jahn makes Ana feel safe and she feels that her curse is leaving because of his warmth.

As they live together Ana is still in the illusion that Jahn is just a sentinel as they move into a room of the palace.  Jahn is determined to tell Ana the truth but every time it is not the right time.  He feels guilty every time but he doesn’t want to lose her, Jahn loves her and Ana loves him.

Living in the palace is better than Ana could have ever thought but she wants a place just for them, but she is very happy here with her husband until she finds the truth out.  Ana is hurt by his lie and tells him that she never wants to see him again.  And Ana finally shows secret, her true side.  Jahn sees the destruction with his own eyes but he does not scare easily.  He wants to help Ana.  He wants her to control her powers and he gets Rainer to help who is the minister of magic.

Now confused, angry with herself and pregnant Ana is locked in her room.  She wants to leave since Jahn hurt her terribly but things start to change when Ana meets her real father Kristo, who is a monster.  Ana doesn’t want him around or his revenge but she must go along with it to save Jahn and her child.

This was an amazing romance book to read.  There is action, love, and magic all the elements that make a book compelling to read.  The magical element of the book is fascinating to read about.  It was something different from what I have read before, done in a different style.  I was drawn into the book as soon as I read the first page.
