Isabelle West was an artist and was very guarded. She was guarded as she had been hiding for years from her past, though her past was about to be revealed.
Tom Duncan was on a task to protect a judge, his job did not include checking out an artist who had trust issues. Tom will follow his gut and find that Isabella was not who she seemed.
Flirting with Disaster is the third book to the series Girls Night Out by Victoria Dahl. I liked this third book to the series. I thought it went in a different direction than the others with a mistaken identity and dealing with cops. Although with all that was going on it still felt light (not a suspense novel) but full of romance.
The characters are strong in their convictions and passions which makes Isabella and Tom almost explosive when they interact. I liked how Dahl created Isabelle’s character, you got the impression that she did not trust easily and was a loner for most of the time. The mystery behind her past intrigued me as a reader. Now Tom was a good man and solid US Marshall. He did his job well but he gets in trouble when he meets Isabelle, especially when he finds out that she is hiding something. You knew immediately there would be trouble when he didn’t come clean that he knew about her past.
The fourth book comes out this month and I’m sure that I will I will be picking it up in the near future.
Sophie Heyer had lived with scandal since she was a child when her mother had disappeared with another man. She had lived with the rumors and made sure to play the part of the good girl so no one compared her to her mother but then she will meet Alex.
Alex Bishop was back at his brothers request. He did not want to be back in Jackson but he gave in. Alex will ride into town and find that nothing had changed except that his mother had become crazier and that he was lusting after a librarian.
Looking For Trouble is the second book to the series Girls Night Out by Victoria Dahl. I liked the book. It was full of passion and lust with some heartbreaking moments.
The character of Sophie was one who was sweet and shy but there was another side to her. She was also wild and wanted more. I liked that she found it with Alex. Now although their scenes were definitely steamy I wasn’t thrilled with the way that Sophie wanted to be treated in bed. There were only a few lines that I thought weren’t necessary but overall they were steamy scenes. So then there is Alex who is the big bad biker boy. He is rough and doesn’t want any attachments. He found the perfect partner with Sophie but you know that real feelings will bloom between them.
Rose Bishop’s character was unbalanced. I know in the end there was a reason for her recent behavior but even before that she was crazy. I felt bad for her at least to a point. She should have gotten help and not neglected her children or spread the rumors around town that made Sophie’s life very hard.
Also for those who read Jackson Hole series you will notice Shane and Merry’s character from Too Hot to Handle. Shane is the brother of Alex.
I am reading the third book next which is with Isabella who is friends with Sophie and Lauren.
Lauren Foster was looking for a night of sex. She had not expected that night would involve Jake Davis who was a firefighter and her ex husbands good friend.
Jake Davis was told by his adult daughter to get out and find someone. Jake will take the advice and find himself looking at Lauren, a local librarian.
Fanning the Flames is the first book to the series Girls Night Out by Victoria Dahl. I liked the book but I felt that it should have been longer. This was a novella under one hundred pages.
The story was about two characters who were middle aged and will be lusting after each other. I was happy to read that Jake, who was forty seven, was wanting Lauren who was a few years younger than him. He was not looking for a twenty something girl. Though as I said before I wanted more, I wanted them to find love with each other and have that struggle but find their way back together. Dahl did hit those points it was just really quick. I guess it seemed just too short for me to really love either character, I liked them just wasn’t loving them.
I, however, am going to read their next two books to the series which are full lengths book. The second book is with Sophie who was mentioned in this book.
Sir Richard Kenworthy needed a wife and needed one quickly. When he goes to the concert he will find Iris who looked to be faded in the background. He will quickly set his plan in motion to make sure that Iris had no choice but to marry him.
Iris Smythe-Smith was one that was overlooked but was loved by her family. She will be suspicious when Sir Richard starts to pay attention to her. She will be even more suspicious when he wants to marry her.
The Secrets of Sir Richard Kenworthy is the fourth book to the Smythe-Smith Quartet which is the last book of the series by Julia Quinn. I liked this book a lot. I thought it flowed well and it got me interested to know the secret which Richard was holding.
I liked Iris’s character. I thought she was a well rounded character that was someone you wanted to cheer for. I wanted her to have a happy ending and you knew that she wouldn’t or at least until Richard told her the truth. I liked that she wasn’t some fearful girl but was intelligent and was emotional but not overly excessive. I liked as well with how she helped out in a big way even though she was hurt. Now Richard’s character was all charm but it was a lie for the most part. He was a good man in a desperate situation. You kind of wanted to hit Richard for being stupid in the situation and not thinking of all the ways that his plan would hurt those around him.
So the secret that was being held back from Iris was not so terrible as I thought but it was still pretty bad of Richard. I was not all too happy with Richard and how he dealt with the problem that had fallen on his shoulders. I thought he should have come clean a lot earlier. He might have even had more help. On a side note I was surprised I didn’t think of the secret sooner. I suppose I thought it would be much more terrible that I didn’t catch the subtle clues which Quinn had written.
As a whole I thought that the Symthe-Smith Quartet was a fun series to read from Julia Quinn.
Brenna Marcelli passion was the winery but for the last ten years that life had died thanks to her ex husband. She wants to now prove herself that she is good enough to run a winery which will lead her to her family’s nemesis to ask for a loan.
Nic Giovanni was a direct competition to the Marcelli’s winery and his only goal was to claim it. His opportunity comes when the woman he loved ten years ago ask him for a loan. He will give it knowing that when he calls it in she will be ruined.
The Seductive One is the third book to the series Marcelli Sisters of Pleasure Road by Susan Mallery. With each book I love this crazy family even more. This one I will say had a little more of cruelty within the book as revenge was a focus. On a side note I had thought this was already published on my site as I was reading these books in order last week. I guess I just saved it instead of publishing it, so here’s the review.
I liked Brenna’s drive and courage to try the winery business on her own. I thought she was wrong ten years ago for not following her heart with Nic but life is messy. Alright now I liked Nic but he was too headstrong with the idea of revenge. I could understand Nic’s pain but he was taking it too far and when the truth came out he would be the one left with heartbreak. Now besides revenge there is a steamy chemistry that these two characters have with each other. It was something that they could build from.
One character that is still driving me crazy is the grandfather. He was so old school that you wanted to smack so sense back into him. Though there will be a little surprise at the end with this family that will show you they have a chance to move into the twenty first century.
So the new brother, Joe, was not what I expected which I liked. I am looking forward to reading his story and finding out how his life with the Marcelli family will change him.
A Marcelli Wedding is a collection of two books, The Marcellie Bride and The Marcelli Princess by Susan Mallery. These are the last two series from the series Marcelli Sisters of Pleasure Road. I have already read the last book so I know what will be happening in Mia’s life but I will be rereading it right after the fourth book which will complete the series for me.
The Marcelli Bride
Joe Marcelli was new to his family and kept his distance as they wanted him to take his rightful place in the family. Instead Joe stayed with the Navy as that was his first love which will lead him to another job. He will have to protect one of the President’s daughter from another kidnapping attempt.
Darcy Jensen was the President’s daughter that everyone forgot. She didn’t like the limelight and felt like the outcast of the family. She will find herself being taken to a winery where she will feel special and loved for just being herself.
I really loved this book just like the other three. This one had a little more action with the kidnapping which Darcy went through. There is also a secret that Darcy carries which has made herself distant between her family. You find out the secret pretty quickly and I don’t blame her from being distant as it was a big blow to her reality. As far as Darcy’s character I liked her. She was not the strong heroine type but a nervous and scared woman who felt out of place. I liked that she flourished under the care of the Marcelli family. Now Joe is like an outsider as well to his family as he only has known them for a couple years. I liked Joe pretty much right from the beginning. He was a tough guy and guarded. You wanted him to let his guard down and let himself be loved, and you wanted Darcy to be that person to love him.
As a side note I thought Mia still was a little immature but you couldn’t help but like her. She does grow up in the last book and you get to see a knew side of Mia which I liked.
I thought that Marcelli Sisters of Pleasure Road series was a one that was worth reading and I enjoyed every book to this series.
Francesca Marcelli had a goal to get her degree in psychology which had her doing a social experiment. One of her experiments will lead her to Sam Reese. Francesca decided to take a chance and have a fling with Sam but things will get completed when his daughter shows up.
Sam Reese was thrilled when Francesca said she wanted no strings but things will get completed. Sam will find himself face to face with a daughter he had no knowledge about. He was out of depth handling a twelve year but he will find help from Francesca.
The Sassy One is the second book to the series Marcelli Sisters of Pleasure Road by Susan Mallery. I really loved this book. I am taken in with the story primarily because it was a really entertaining story. The family is still around and sometimes impossible but you know they love each other.
Francesca is self conscious of what others think about her and is doing her best to prove that she can do what she needs. In walks the complication which is Sam. She wanted a fling but of course you know that will not last especially when something Francesca had not expected happened. Now Sam was a good man but he was out of his limit when it came to children. It was pretty much like that throughout the book, it was like he wanted to pull his hair out in frustration and that whatever he did he screwed up with Kelly. It was realistic and it made me like his character because I was cheering for him to get it right. But with Sam there are more downs than ups.
There were a lot of things that happened within the book that were not just about Francesca and Sam. There was the introduction of Kelly, who is Sam’s daughter, who showed up out of the blue. I liked Kelly. I think Mallery wrote the character well because she certainly acted like a hurt teenager. Then there was the surprise brother. I was thrown with this but knew there was going to be a story with a male Marcelli as there are five stories and four of them are with the sisters. I am looking forward for the newest Marcelli’s story but first I have to read Brenna’s story who will be interacting with her first love. I will be reading her story next.
Katie Marcelli is a party planner and is landing a big job. The problem was the man who hired her, Zach Stryker, was too good looking and looked liked he was going to become her sisters Father-in-law, and he wanted nothing more to stop the wedding.
Zach Stryker knew that his son was marrying too young at eighteen. He just had to prove that his son was making a mistake but Zach will be distracted by the older sister of his son’s fiance.
The Sparkling One is the first book to the series Marcellie Sisters of Pleasure Road by Susan Mallery. I have to say that I really liked this book. It flew by as I wanted to know how Katie and Zach would find a way to be with each other.
I liked Katie’s character. She was a strong, independent woman but she was still timid when standing up to her family. Katie will have her moment which will have me cheering for her. Zach’s character I thought would be ruthless with this family but he really wasn’t. He was just a worried father. Now when Katie and Zach do find that they have chemistry the pages will sizzle. I really liked them together as they were perfect for each other, they just had to figure it out for themselves.
Alright now Mia I had already read about in the last book of the series, but it has been a while. I will be rereading that book as I go through the series. I liked Mia’s character, she was much more mature than David. Now David wasn’t a bad kid but that is what he was, a kid. I didn’t like how immature David got with what he did but it all turned out for the best.
Susan Mallery sets up the series by giving us insights to these sisters and this crazy family. The grandfather is a piece of work but you know they all love each other. I am going to be reading the second book next which will be all about Francesca.
Steven Creed is an attorney who will find himself becoming a guardian of an orphaned five year old boy. He will move to Stone Creek to be near his family and to make a home for himself and Matt. While Steven was making a home Matt wanted to complete his new family with a new mom, the prosecutor Melissa O’Ballivan.
A Creed in Stone Creek is the first book to the series Creed Cowboys by Linda Lael Miller. So when I started this series I had read the second book then the third book and I am finally finishing the series with the first book.
Well as a whole I liked the series. Personally for me I liked the first book as it was a good book but I thought the other two were better. I guess I was just more intrigued with the twins in the other two books. Although Matt was pretty entertaining to read about and I thought the build of romance between Steven and Melissa was good.
I was happy to read the series because I don’t read a lot from Linda Lael Miller. I tend not to read tons of stories with cowboys, its usually ballrooms and rogues for me, but its always good to change things up.
Jessie Pringle had survived a brutal attack and came out of the attack with scars on the outside of her body and inside. Jessie moved to Maine to start a new life where she was not the victim. She will meet a man, Ian MacKeage, who attracts her and has her taking the next step. Though before she starts a new life there are questions that Jessie will start to ask about her tragic night as her memory lapse started to clear up.
Highlander for the Holidays is the eighth book to the series Pine Creek Highlanders series by Janet Chapman. I really liked this book which has finished up the series. I thought there was a little more mystery to the book especially with the tragic past which Jessie survived.
Jessie’s character intrigued me when I found out that she had a rescue dog. I wanted to know what had happened and why the dog was there to help her. I also wanted to make sure that she found her happiness with Ian with her going through so much and for her find out what really happened that night. Now Ian’s character I was confused for just a moment. For one moment thought he was the original Ian that was introduced in the first book. Well obviously that didn’t make sense as he would be an older man. This Ian was the son of Sadie and Morgan which is written into the story. I really liked Ian. He was a little laid back but very protective of Jessie especially when he finds out about her past. I liked that Ian was like his father and telling Jessie that scars did not matter. His kindness will have you cheering for him and Jessie to be happy.
The villain I had to say was predictable for me. I only guessed one person and I was right. There were many clues about the person that had murdered Jessie’s husband and had injured Jessie in the process.
I thought that Chapman gave a great ending for Jessie and Ian that followed well for Pine Creek Highlanders series.
