Coral Smythe was known as the Aphrodite. She had stopped entertaining men but she will be won through gambling for seven nights. Coral will be scared as her job was one she hated especially when Captain Wargate was not like all the other men out there.
Captain Isaac Wargate disliked his men gambling away their earnings but there was little he could do. All he could do was make sure his men made it back to the ship. Though this time Isaac will stay behind to help the Aphrodite who was being sold for seven nights.
The Ice Princess is the fourth book to the series Prince Trilogy by Elizabeth Hoyt. I really liked this story right from the start. I was pulled into the story right away.
Coral’s character was a woman who led a hard life but she did what she had to do. You felt bad for Coral when her freedom was taken away but she was a clever woman. Then there was Isaac who was a stern but a fair man. He had a softer side which showed when he saved Coral from the other men. Now since this was only a novella the story was fact paced but I liked how with each night she wrote them getting closer, they were connecting with each other.
The ending had a twist but with a nice surprise that left the romance reader in me happy.
Lucy Craddock-Hayes was country bred and lived a quiet life. That life will be shaken when she finds an injured man. She will nurse him back to life and will find that her life will never be the same. Lucy will want to be with Simon who was different from any man she had ever met.
Viscount Simon Iddesleigh had been beaten to death but that would not stop his plan for revenge. He had to make sure the men who had killed his brother paid, their payment was death. Simon though will be distracted when Lucy will help him and have him wondering if death was the answer.
The Serpent Prince is the third book to the Prince Trilogy series by Elizabeth Hoyt. I liked this book a lot more than the previous books. I was drawn into the story pretty much right from the beginning. I will admit its still not my favorite of Elizabeth Hoyt but it was good.
I liked Lucy. She was quiet but there was a fire that was inside her and that was drawn out by Simon. Though she was still very much the voice of reason when it came to Simon. The character of Simon intrigued me. He was out for revenge because of his brothers death. I found Simon like two people, a good man and a bad man, and he is explained that way in the book, so I think Hoyt does a good job at that.
The quest for revenge was one that went throughout the entire book. Hoyt does a good job at writing Simon’s mission of revenge and how he changed as he got closer to his goal.
Lady Georgina Maitland doesn’t want a husband to run her estates. All she needed was a good steward, Harry Pye, but she will have a problem when she starts to feel things for the man.
Harry Pye prided himself on doing his job well but Lady Georgina was distracting. He will want her for himself but knows that would be impossible. The situation gets worse when he is thought to be a murderer but Georgina will stand by his side.
The Leopard Prince is the second book of the series Princes Trilogy by Elizabeth Hoyt. I had read the first book around three or four years ago and I had liked that book but I wasn’t amazed by it. I have to say I have the same feelings for this book. It wasn’t that there was anything really boring about the book but I just felt I was reading for the sake of reading. That is the complete opposite in the Maiden Lane series where I have loved each and every book.
So I will say that I liked the second book a little more. The reason being there was the intrigue of a murder that had happened in the village. The man suspected was Harry Pye but as the reader you knew he could not have been the murderer. It was not just in the his character. I did like Georgina and how driven and independent she was in her life.
I am on to the third book next. I don’t know if I will be blown away by the book but I am interested in trying as Elizabeth Hoyt is one of my favorite authors.
Abby stays out of the limelight of her father’s political career but she will be sucked in when men will be after her. Abby will have her secret service but it wouldn’t be enough, it will take Carlos to save her and protect her from danger.
Carlos “Steady” had loved Abby from afar and he would do anything he could to protect her. When she is taken Carlos will go on his own to bring back Abby. As he keeps close to Abby, Carlos will realize that he doesn’t want to be parted from her when she is brought back home.
Full Throttle is the seventh book to the series Black Knights Inc by Julie Ann Walker. I really liked this novel mainly because of the two characters of Abby and Carlos.
I liked the character of Abby. She was someone who went about and did her job but mainly kept to herself. She wasn’t really able to live her life since she was the presidents daughter. The mystery of what was her fault kept me reading. Well it wasn’t that much of a mystery as I had guessed pretty early on in the book. But I thought that Walker did a good job writing Abby’s guilt that ate away for the last eight years. So Carlos was a favorite of mine. He was very charming, thoughtful, and of course lethal in a fight. He was someone who would do anything to protect those he loved. My heart broke for Carlos when tragedy had struck him but that was what made him into the soldier he had become.
The threat is obviously the men who are after Abby and they are determined. I thought there was a good amount of action and danger which kept me entertained throughout the book.
Well there is one more book to the series which is out right now, though I am going to take a break from Walker and move on yet again.
Mac wanted Delilah from the moment that he had seen her but he had to stay away. He did not want to repeat past mistakes, but then Mac will have to help Delilah and he will find himself in close proximity to her. For Mac it will be hard to concentrate but in order to keep Delilah and her uncle safe, Mac had to keep his head in the mission.
Delilah had fallen in love with Mac but she knew he was just not interested. Though when Delilah’s uncle is taken she goes to the Black Knights, specifically to Mac, for help. She will be grateful for the help especially when she finds out there is much more to her uncle’s kidnapping.
Hell for Leather is the sixth book to the series Black Knights Inc by Julie Ann Walker. Its been awhile since I picked up a book from the author and I found myself not having a problem following along. Though I will say it took me a little time to get back into the book. It was mostly because I was trying to remember the other characters that were being mentioned in the book. Once I let go of that notion I sat back and enjoyed the book, and it was very enjoyable.
I found Mac’s character likable and a badass, but was a little annoying with his need not to fall for Delilah especially when you find out the reason he needs to stay away. I can understand his reasoning especially when you get the whole story but every situation is different. Mac can’t see beyond what had happened to him in the past. Then there is Delilah who is a vibrant woman but she had gone through a lot within the past couple of years. I liked that she stays strong but inside she is an emotional mess. That made her feel real.
Well there is some definite action that comes to the Black Knights thanks to Delilah. Through the first half of the book I was wondering why would the bad guys had taken Delilah’s uncle. The truth will be revealed which made sense for why the bad guys were going after the uncle and Delilah.
Sydney, and her family, were dealing with the aftermath of Peyton, her brothers, mistake which destroys a life. Sydney knows that she has to play the perfect daughter, to fade into the background but she will then meet the Chatham family who really sees her.
Saint Anything is a novel by Sarah Dessen. I really loved this book. I have not read anything from Dessen for about five years. Its not that I don’t like her writing because I do. I thought Lock & Key was amazing. I think that Dessen is a wonderful storyteller. I think why I didn’t go rushing back to the author is the fact it is for young adults. Though why I should go back is because she gets you with the emotional turmoil that she writes well. Its not just teen angst, its deeper and you feel what those characters are feeling, and I felt for the character of Sydney. Though this was not doom and gloom, it was a journey she takes to rediscovery and Dessen did it right.
So the character of Sydney I loved. She was a daughter who was loved but she was almost pushed to the side. The parents only concentrated on their troubled son and didn’t see the daughter who needed them. They will get it together but it takes a lot for them to truly understand. I was happy the parents got their act together before something very bad happened to Sydney. I liked that Sydney started to live life for herself which was thanks to the Chatham family. This family I loved. They were dysfunctional but worked in the best ways. There were three characters of the family that stood out which was Mrs. Chatham, Mac, and Layla. The mom was courageous with all that she had to go through. Layla was kind and a vibrant young woman who made Sydney believe she could be more. Then there was Mac who was definitely the love interest. I liked that it was innocent and not a heartbreaking love, but a hopeful one.
Then there was the ending which was predictable, though I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Olivia lived her business and she was taking the next step with opening up a new shop. All that stood in her way was Tony, the owner of the hotel. She will thrilled when he grants her new shop but will be taken back when he proposes a completely different contract.
Scandalized! is a novel by Lori Foster. It is a standalone novel and another fun novel to read. As I was reading the book I knew that it could go several ways and with each scenario there was going to be heartbreak but you knew in the end there would be happiness. Well I was right in one of the situations that I had guessed and even though I predicted the story I enjoyed the book.
I think what got me was that Tony was a surprise. He was a complete family man and he loved his nieces and nephews. Though he was a little confusing with his need not to marry the woman. Although he will be thinking differently as he spends time with Olivia. Olivia’s character surprised me as well. Her background story was so sad and it really shaped her to the person she had become. I wanted Olivia to be happy but she will do something that will only create a problem between her and Tony. I liked how Foster handled the secret and the outcome of the situation between Tony and Olivia.
