Helen Ravenel was a sheltered young woman who will be awakened by Rhys. He will bring out the passionate woman that is inside Helen, a passion that had been suppressed. Though Helen will find trouble in paradise when the secret she is holding could tear apart her relationship with Rhys.
Rhys Winterborne was an ambitious man who wanted more than he had grown up with. He will succeed in business but he wanted more, he wanted Helen. Rhys will do what he can to get Helen.
Marrying Winterborne is a novel by Lisa Kleypas. This is the second book to the series Ravenels. I liked the first book to this series but I loved this one. Lisa Kleypas has a formula for how her characters are and it really works. I was drawn into this book a lot quicker than the first and it really was because Helen and Rhys story was already being told in the previous story. Their interaction intrigued me and I wanted to know how they would end up together.
Helen was shy and quiet. She did not raise her voice and was often overlooked when her opinion was being addressed. I liked that Helen did not stay that way. Because of Rhys, she was able to have authority and have her opinions be heard. Rhys is a hard man and from appearances he seemed very cruel but his character surprised me. I liked that he had a soft side especially when he was dealing with Helen later on in the book.
There is a secret that Helen has carried for years that will come out. I figured I knew how everyone would react but I think Rhys reaction surprised me.
The third book will be coming out in February 2017 and I am excited to read it because it will be about Gabriel, who is the child from Evie and Sebastian in the book The Devil in Winter.
Calista Langley operated a business that helped single men and women find someone they could possible be with. Her business was going well with the help of her brother but she was plagued with someone who was watching her. When she receives her third gift she will get help from an author who will help find her stalker.
Trent Hastings was an accomplished author and he had come to Calista’s to make sure she was not a fraud as his sister was Calista’s client. Trent will find himself intrigued by Calista and he will find himself helping with her stalker issue.
‘Til Death Do Us Part is a novel by Amanda Quick. I really liked this novel. I will say that at times I thought the transitions were a little abrupt. I wanted more details with the characters. I also found the romance between Trent and Calista was not a big part of the novel like it is with some of her other novels. Though I will say that didn’t really bother me, it was more of an observation. What I really liked was that they had formed a partnership to help each other with the case, that brought me back to an earlier series Lavinia Lake/Tobias March.
Calista’s character was a business woman. I liked Calista because she had endured and was resourceful. She was level headed and did not believe in romance, not as she did as a young girl. I liked that her character stayed true till the very end. Although she did soften up a little. Trent’s character was interesting as he was a writer. I liked that he took on the style of his character when trying to solve the case.
With the side characters I wanted to know more about them. I really liked Trent’s sister and Calista’s brother. With Trent’s sister it looks like her story is finished but I wonder about Andrew. It would be interesting if he got his own story as he started his own detective agency.
Now in Quick’s style of mystery she certainly had me guessing about who the villain was which I liked though it was short lived as I guessed who the villain was pretty quickly. Though there was a twist that had me rethinking my guess.
I am looking forward to reading the next novel by Amanda Quick which comes out in May of next year.
Amy Comfort moved to the small town after a horrific incident in Seattle. She was looking for a quiet life so she could sell houses and write her romance novel. Then when her aunt becomes engaged and Amy is worried about the fiance. She will ask Owen to investigate him which will bring them a lot closer.
Owen Sweet wanted Amy from the moment he saw her. Owen will take the subtle approach when it comes to Amy but then things will get complicated when she needs his help as a private investigator. He will take the job and hope to get closer to Amy.
Connecting Rooms is a novel by Jayne Ann Krentz. I have read many books from Krentz and have liked them all, some more than others but they have all been enjoyable. It feels like its been a while since I picked up a book from Krentz and I will say it was fun coming back to the author. I thought this book was enjoyable and one that went very quick.
Amy’s character was a woman who was healing after a tragic event and moving on in her life. I thought she was funny with her imagination which came from her being a writer. Owen’s character was a private investigator and he really was a good guy but he wasn’t being assertiveness enough. That will change when he will show Amy that he does want her. The chemistry between the characters is subtle until Owen steps it up a notch and really shows Amy he wants her. I liked them together.
The mystery was good because I was thought I had the perfect suspect, but I was wrong. It is sometimes the most logical choice.
I don’t know what my next book from Jayne Ann Krentz will be but I will be on the lookout for one.
London Hughes was happy with her life. She surfed, tended bar, and hanged out with her roommate. Then things change when she meets Luke Sutter. They will have a one night stand followed by a couple more times but London will know it wouldn’t last because of Luke’s reputation and her trust in the opposite sex.
Wicked Sexy Liar is the fourth book to the series Wild Seasons by Christina Lauren. I really liked this book.
London’s character is a confident woman except when it is with men and relationships. She had been burned by her ex which left her doubting love. I liked that London was trying to live again and open her heart though it will take some time for that to happen. Luke’s character was a good guy but he very much was a player and he enjoyed it because he was in it for just sex. Though when you get to the deeper part of the Luke your heart will break for him. When he broke things off with Mia a little of him died then too. That was why I was happy to read that Luke was opening himself up for something more with London.
This is the last book of the series but there could always be more written. If another story is written I would like to see either Dylan, aka Not Joe, or Magot. Maybe one some story with them getting together.
Lola’s dream was to write her own story and she finally had accomplished that task. Though now her life is in chaos as her comic book is being made into a movie. Lola is not ready for all that is going to happen especially when Oliver decides it was time to take their friendship to the next level.
Oliver has wanted Lola since he had drunkenly married her but he knew it was not the right time. Then Oliver will find himself and Lola drifting out of the friend zone to more and he will take a chance. He will be thrilled but when her life gets complicated she pushes him away.
Dark Wild Night is the third book to the series Wild Seasons by Christina Lauren. I really liked this book. It was fun as Lola was a writer for comic books and Oliver worked at a comic book store.
Lola’s character was a nerd which I loved. I also loved that she was a writer of comic books. She was a shy person and unsure of herself but I liked that she was shinning when she got the deal for her book. Oliver’s character was also a nerd and he was adorable. I wanted him to speak up more and he does but it is not about what he really wants.
Their relationship was not easy. There were some definite bumps in the road and pretty early on. I hated what Oliver did to hurt Lola, it wasn’t that bad but it hurt her emotionally. Though what Lola was doing and how she was handling the relationship was not right either. She needed to be brave and take a chance.
Harlow Vega liked to experience life and took all that it had to offer especially having fun with guys but since her quickie marriage she hasn’t been successful. Then Finn Roberts will come back into her life on business. They make a deal to have fun while he is in town but when things start to get real between them they start to back off of each other and question what they want.
Dirty Rowdy Thing is the second book to the series Wild Seasons by Christina Lauren. I liked this book. It was a good addition to the series.
Harlow’s character is very loud and says what she wants, when she wants. I liked that she was protective and someone who fixed things for those she loved. She was perceived as a wealthy socialite by Finn when she was actually not a snob. Though one things Harlow does wrong is act first, think later which will get her into trouble. Finn’s character was quiet and had an attitude. He was always saying the wrong thing or he was bantering back and forth with Harlow. I actually liked the bantering but I wanted them to find that they were good together because initially it was like they were oil and water.
I found that they are actually very similar as they are the take charge kind of people. That is good and bad because they are both wanting to help or to take charge of the situation. They will work it out but it takes some time.
Mia Holland was done with her college graduation and with two of her friends they went to Las Vegas to celebrate. Mia was ready to let loose which meant a possible one night stand. Though Mia chose the wrong guy for a one night stand because Ansel Guillaume wanted more. If Mia was honest with herself she wanted more as well and she was going to take that chance with him in Paris.
Sweet Filthy Boy is the first book to the series Wild Seasons by Christina Lauren. I really liked this book. This was one that I sat down and just read, not taking any breaks to stop reading.
Mia’s character was a young woman who was contemplating life after graduation. She didn’t want to go to Boston, it wasn’t in her heart. I liked that she took a chance even though it was one heck of a chance. It is a brave person who just ups and leaves their home to another country. Now Ansel’s character was a Frenchman who wanted that romance and lust and he will get it with Mia. For me Ansel was a mystery at times. I sometimes felt he wasn’t really showing his true self but that was because he was so busy at work, and everything for them is very new. I liked that you did get to know him more.
The chemistry was explosive between these two. This book has a lot of sex and I mean a lot of sex. Being with Ansel seemed to bring out a playfulness to Mia especially in the bedroom. The chemistry doesn’t seem to be going anywhere even when a problem happens.
So I got all four books to the series since I saw that they were available to check out. I couldn’t resist. I am reading the second book next.
