Sebastian Madinger, the Earl of Wriothesly, was devastated to learn that his wife and his best friend were having an affair and seemed to be running away when they died. He will want to keep this a secret but it will be hard to do when his best friends widow is causing scandal as she is not playing the grieving widow.
Leah George had stopped loving her husband after she found him with another woman. Now that he was dead she wanted to be free and decided to shock society which will bring scandal to her name. Her antics will be stopped, or attempted, by Sebastian who wants to move on. Leah has other things on her mind, freedom from the rules of society.
Romancing the Countess is the first book from Belgrave Square Affair by Ashley March. I liked the story, wasn’t blown away by it but it was a good story to read.
Sebastian and Leah are the ones who were hurt by their spouses who were in love. I felt for Leah as she was the one that found out about the affair first hand. I wanted her to be strong but at the time it was too shocking. I was glad that she found her courage to be more outspoken even though it was unorthodox according to society’s rules. Sebastian I understood his character but I felt like I wanted to yell at him because he was forcing Leah to keep being a shell of herself. She doesn’t listen to his advice which is good as she needed a way out of her life. I liked Sebastian for the reason that he was a good dad to Henry.
The couple were on the verge of seduction at the house party but then everything chances after the house party. Romance for these two characters was something that became very quiet. It was almost nonexistent as they both had to deal with different issues that were stopping them from finding that love between them. Love will blossom between Sebastian and Leah, it just takes a while.
Benjamin Elliot, the earl of Foxburn, was surprised to meet the woman whose portrait he has that hangs in his study. She is the exact opposite of what he thought and will figure he knows her type but will find out that is not true. He will be asked to help her locate the other portrait and will find himself falling for this woman.
Daphne Honeycotte had posed for two paintings that were slightly scandalous. She is now in good society and is frightened that her reputation will be torn apart if they see them. She will enlist the help of Ben who was the owner of one of them to help find the second portrait. Daphne will be thankful for the help but knows that she had to keep her distance from Ben because every moment she is at his side she falls deeper and deeper for the man.
Once She Was Tempted is the second book from Honeycotte series by Anne Barton. The first book for me was one I loved. Anne Barton can weave a story that got me to notice the characters and the plot. I loved this second book for very much the same reasons.
Daphne wasn’t someone I got to know much in the first book but with this book you certainly get to know her character. I liked that she did whatever she needed for those she cared about. Ben was a stubborn man and one who liked his isolation but that will be that life will be shaken up when Daphne comes into his life. It was interesting with the location of this painting and what depths Ben did to get this painting for Daphne.
The ending of the book was fantastic with the scene at the Ball where all is about lost but Daphne will triumph with how the situation is handled, Ben as well. His part was a little more sneaky which I loved. It brings that happy ending I was waiting for and a not so happy ending for Mr. Hallows, the villain. Mr. Hallows was not a very nice gentleman. He liked to drink and gamble and make life miserable for others around him. His target was Daphne as she was the woman in the painting and he wanted to see her suffer.
There are not many books to choose from by Anne Barton but Olivia’s story will be available sometime in October, so the book will be coming out soon as we are approaching that month on Wednesday.
Marnie Price needed certain things to survive all her friends finding happiness. At the bar she finds it in drinks and she wouldn’t be alone in drinking as Dylan will be by her side. She will be waking up with him in her bed and it wouldn’t stop there. Marnie will want more but find that Dylan might not want that.
Dylan Brookes is a sensible man who is organized and does the right thing. He messes up with sleeping with his ex’s best friend. After that one night Dylan wanted more and will pursue this woman but he isn’t sure if he wants to take it all the way thanks to his parents.
Last Groom Standing is the fourth and final book to this series Wedding Season. Kimberly Lang finishes up this series with her story that pairs off the last of the friends. This was a cute finish up to the series.
It was interesting pairing between Marnie and Dylan but I liked them together as they were very much alike. The chemistry they have is obviously compatible especially as they continue this fling. I liked Marnie as she knew what she wanted but she also gave up too quickly. She didn’t want to be hurt by Dylan so she took the easy way out. Dylan is the straight-laced sort of guy and his world is shaken up with Marnie in it. I thought the information about his parents was interesting as it shaped him how he was and how he acted. As with the other books there were up and downs but when the time was needed I thought Dylan finally got it together.
I don’t read too many series where multiple authors contribute but I felt that the Wedding Season series was written well by all four of authors.
Gina Carrington was not one to shy away from flirtation and sex but with one night with Carter ten years ago she felt shame. She broke up a friendship and damaged a soon to be marriage. Gina changed after that, she was still a flirt but wiser. She will now be making apologies to Carter but old habits are hard to get rid of. She will find herself with Carter once again but this time there was nothing stopping the relationship.
Carter had never forgotten Gina since that night and now he has a second chance with her and this time he wouldn’t let her get away. Though it wouldn’t be easy to keep Gina at his side.
Maid of Dishonor is the third book to Wedding Season series by Heidi Rice. I liked this book at lot and found it intriguing to read with the secret that Gina had been holding, and the hurt feelings that night which ruined a friendship.
As I am going through this series it is very interesting that it is being written by four different authors and yet they all work. The personalities are all the same from book to book which is great as you get the fluidity of the series.
Carter and Gina’s story which was talked about in hushed terms throughout the series with what happened between them ten years ago. Though this book will go in more discussion with what happened and give Gina’s side of the story, not just the crude one she had given. Gina to me seemed more with this story. I liked her before but she is a better person to me as I find out what happened that night and the aftermath. Carter to me seemed like a player but that was deceiving as he was much more. I liked that he was focused on what he lost and was determined to find a way to win her back. There are bumps in that road a secret that Gina was keeping will come out and will be shocking everyone, but it gives them that second chance that was waiting for them.
The final book, Last Groom Standing, is next for me.
Samuel “Tuck” Tucker was seen as a jock foremost but what most did not see was that he had a brain. Cassie was the girl who thought him stupid and he was having fun making her think otherwise but the joke will be up and he will find that the more he spends with her the more he wants her.
Cassie Barclay was genius smart, she wasn’t the normal girl next door. She will brush off Tuck and didn’t want to give him a moment of her time because he was a jock. The problem was she was attracted to him.
Girl Least Likely To Marry by Amy Andrews is the second book to Wedding Season series by four different authors. I liked this book, it was cute and a fast paced. Its a Harlequin romance, the first one was as well, so they tend to be shorter than other novels. I felt that this story flowed a little more than the first. I think it was because I have know gotten to know the friends a little better. It didn’t hurt that there were no hurt feelings that started with these two characters. There was a little annoyance with each other, really on Cassie’s side, but that quickly evaporated especially when they started to sleep with each other.
I honestly liked Cassie’s character as she was a genius, she just didn’t have much at experience with living life. It was kind of humorous when she started to act normal with feelings at the end. It was something she had never felt before. Tuck was kind of a player but all in good fun. I didn’t like he took Cassie on a dance with a wager but I warmed up to his character. He was fun loving and was smart which worked well for Cassie. I liked them together and was cheering for them to find that happy ending.
I am reading the third book, Maid of Dishonor, next which is with Gina.
Reese Michael had been married ten years ago and it nearly broke her as she loved him. He was back now and Reese can’t deny the chemistry but she doesn’t want to feel that as he was her past.
Mason Hicks was back facing his ex-wife wanting closure but it was hard to have a conversation when she was glaring daggers at him. He was the reason for her now fiance walking away. He wants to make things right which is why he will have to stay away from her as the chemistry between them is still alive.
The Unexpected Wedding Guest by Aimee Carson is the first book to the Wedding Season series. This series is written by four different authors all about these four friends finding love. I liked the story. It didn’t grab me right away but it was sweet in the end as it was all about second chances.
Reese needed to grow up and figure out what went wrong in her marriage which does happen giving her clarity. I thought Reese was a little naive with the idea of going through with this other marriage as she clearly had some issues thanks to her first marriage. Mason was a solider who had been been through a very traumatic time in war. He was broken now and looking for closure. I wanted Mason to stop dragging his feet and really talk which is what he wanted to do. Instead he just avoids the topic and walks away. As the story went on I was happy that they were able to have that time to talk and get their second chances.
I have all four book in my possession so I will be reading the second book next with Cassie.
Elizabeth Scott was taking a leave of absence that was being enforced by her job as she was on probation due to a scandal. Elizabeth was able to enjoy herself some as she puts her dog through dog shows. She will find a new job opportunity in England which will keep her in proximity of Donovan Darcy who had mad and wanting him.
Donovan Darcy was judging another dog show but this time it was different. He will meet a woman who will have him smiling and annoyed at the same time. He will be surprised to find her in London and Donovan will want nothing more than to spend more time with the woman who was driving him mad.
Unleashing Mr. Darcy is a standalone novel by Teri Wilson. I absolutely loved this book. There is certainly parts of this book that are familiar to Pride & Prejudice with scenes that are very much like the classic story, but Wilson makes her own story.
It was a charming tale that happened between Elizabeth and Donovan and how dogs brought them together. I liked the instant dislike that Elizabeth had for Donovan as based on her own experiences with the wealthy. The dislike does not go away as Elizabeth is stubborn and nervous about letting him get closer. Donovan is not the stuck up man you would think him to be. He is a fun guy to be around, a little serious, but that was too be expected as he had to grow up fast when his parents died. I love his kindness with animals and that is shared with Elizabeth which does bond them.
Their relationship is anything but a fairytale as Elizabeth doesn’t always like him and Donovan finds her annoying. Of course they work it out and then more bumps in the road happen. Donovan will be persistent in his pursuit of Elizabeth and you can’t help but sigh over his attempts and want a Donovan for yourself.
The villains are certainly Helena and Grant. Helena was the jealous one when it came to Elizabeth as she wanted Donovan. She will do anything to get rid of the competition. Halfway through I was thinking I bet Grant will be making an appearance. He does as his part in the story wasn’t quite finished. I really wanted these two characters to be kicked to the curb and thankfully Wilson will not disappoint.
After such an enjoyable story I want to read more but am hesitant as sometimes you read such an amazing book and the next one is not up to those standards which I doubt. You just never know. Though I have a feeling I will be back for another Teri Wilson’s book because I am curious about the other books she wrote about.
