Emma Shaw created a fake relationship with a man she had never officially met but with him back she has to act fast. She needs Sean to help fool her grandmother for one month so her grandmother can go back to Florida without worrying about her.
Sean Kowalski was back in his home town and was just given a proposition to be in a fake relationship. Sean will help Emma try to pull this off even though he doubts it will work.
Yours to Keep is the third book to Kowalski Family series by Shannon Stacey. I liked this story. At times it was a little silly with what Emma and Sean were doing to try to fool the grandmother but it was an enjoyable book to read.
Emma wanted only to ease her grandmothers worries which makes her a good person but a little crazy for creating such a lie. She was also hardheaded and went toe to toe with Sean which was good because I wouldn’t like her as much if she was going to submit to him. Now Sean was an army man getting back into civilian life and was just given an outrageous proposition. He doesn’t go for it then he changes his mind. He was a good man to help out Emma in this crazy situation. Stacey makes Emma and Sean believable in their fake relationship like when Emma blushes every time Sean touches her. Or how there is to very little contact between them. They were small things but it made sense.
The grandmother was someone I really liked. She was a smart woman and was not one to be fooled. She knew immediately the relationship wasn’t real but she was going to pretend innocence so Emma and Sean might develop a true relationship.
With reading this book I am curious to how the rest of the Kowalski family would be. Within the book you got to know the characters but as always with each book you will gain insight on that particular character who is featured. The Kowlaski Family series will be another series for me to get into, and there is plenty of books with this large family, siblings and cousins combined.
Lily Mansfield is a hired assassin who works side jobs for the CIA. She has been an assassin since eighteen and very good at her job but on this next mission it will be going against the agency she worked for. She was out for revenge against the man, Salvatore Nervi, who killed her good friends their daughter. She will have to watch her back as the agency will try to take her in.
Lucas Swain was on a job for the CIA to bring in Lily Mansfield and he was to do whatever he could to bring her in. He will be drawn to the woman and will find himself walking a thin line as he helps her discover the truth with what happened to her friends and what Nervi was do up to which would harm numerous people.
Kiss Me While I Sleep is the third book to CIA’s Spies by Linda Howard. I absolutely loved the first two books and although I did like this one I wouldn’t say it was my favorite. I suppose that in the previous two books I felt I connected with the characters a little easier. In this book I was drawn in but I couldn’t get into the characters all the way as there was too much deceiving going on. Then again that is what Lucas and Lily have to do, deceive. It is their job when working for the agency.
What I liked about the story was this mystery of why Lily’s friends and their daughter were killed. I thought how Howard developed that story was really well done. She kept you going with one small clue to another and another. I didn’t know how it was going to end with the mystery but when all was said and done there was justice to be found for those who had died.
I wasn’t too into the ending. Yes it was a happy ending for Lily and Lucas which for me was the problem. I wanted them to have a happy ending but with how things were shaping out to be it didn’t seem right. It seemed too force at the end for that happy ending. This ending though of course did not throw me off from Linda Howard as I plan on reading more because she is a very good writer and her books are enjoyable.
Lila Emerson was house sitting when she looked across and saw in the window a couple fighting like they had been before. Lila will be shocked to witness a woman being pushed out of the window but she will not have clear view of the person who pushed the woman. She will do what she can to help solve the case with Aston, the brother of the deceased. She will not know that doing this will be putting her life in danger.
Artist Ashton Archer has just lost his brother who was thought to have murdered his girlfriend and then killed himself. Ash knew that was not the case and would enlist the help of the key eyewitness, Lila, to help prove it wasn’t his brother who murdered the woman. But by enlisting Lila’s help he will be putting her life and his own in danger.
The Collector is a novel by Nora Roberts. I am an avid reader of Nora Roberts and will most always try her books as she is a good author and her books are enjoyable. I am not going to her books as much but when a book comes out that sounds interesting I willingly read the book. Now this book had its good moments with intrigue of this murder/suicide and who was the real mastermind behind it all, but other than that I didn’t connect with the main characters.
Lila and Ashton were characters that came together in time of tragedy and confusion. I liked them for the most part but I couldn’t believe that they were together. I get that with tragedy you bond but for some reason with how they were created to be I couldn’t see it. How Roberts writes her stories you are pulled into the story but I felt that I grew a little bored with all that was happening. When the action and intrigue part was upon us the story for me grew interesting because I wanted to know the person behind it all and know the reason why they are doing it.
You are introduced to one of the villains in the book pretty quickly and they are vindictive but to know the person who is pulling the strings to this job that is what was driving me to continue the story.
I will still be back for more on Nora Roberts as there are plenty of novels to read from her that I have yet to try.
CIA Black Ops John Medina is a legend among those in the field and has a new mission he must complete. To get close to his target he has to enlist the help of Niema Burdock who he worked beside five years ago. Not leaving on the best terms John will have to work hard to get her to agree to the mission.
Niema Burdock had stopped living her life once her husband was killed on a mission. She has recovered but was not prepared to have John Medina back in her life. She will be tempted and agreed to come back to the life, but she will be tempted in a new way when working close to John.
All the Queen’s Men is the second book to Linda Howard’s series CIA’s Spies. Linda Howard is a storyteller and a very good one at that. I was captivated with the story. I was quickly brought into this book with the tragic beginning which gave a quick insight to the two main characters and after that I only wanted more.
Reading the first book I knew that I would want to read the second for the sole reason of John Medina. I wanted to know more about this man who was an enigma. He was a hard man and one who has been trained to survive on these missions that are almost impossible. In the beginning of the book I found John a hard man but one of compassion. As the book continues he is still that hard man but he has some humor and a lot of sex appeal when he is squaring off with Niema. Now Niema’s character was one I instantly gravitated towards. She was a strong woman but very weak in parts of the field that she needed to survive. She grows stronger when facing this new mission which also gave back her life in a way. She has been like a ghost just walking the earth since her husband was killed, now she has a chance to live once again.
The bad guy is stated in the book but I didn’t necessarily hate him even though he was an arms dealer. I kind of liked him especially when Howard shows his soft side which is also his liability.
To finish off the series I picked up the third and final book, Kiss Me While I Sleep which I will be reading next.
Lord Kirk knew that he had missed his chance with Dahlia Balfour but he will get a second chance thanks to his godmother who decided to make him presentable. Lord Kirk will follow the advice but when it comes to Dahlia he couldn’t help but stumble along. He will have to get it right which just might be to seduce her with a kiss.
Dahlia Balfour believes in love and wants love in a marriage. She will actively seek it out at the party the Duchess of Roxburghe was holding. Dahlia was not expecting to see her neighbor at the party and will soon find that her anger with him will not hold out. She will wonder if she would be able to find her own happy ending in his arms.
How to Entice an Enchantress is the third book from Duchess Diaries series by Karen Hawkins. Reading Rose and Lily’s story were very entertaining to read and you fell in love with their story. Dahlia got her chance in the spotlight now and I have to say this was another book I thoroughly enjoyed.
Dahlia liked Lord Kirk and was coming to love him but a falling out happened and then fate brings them back together. Or course that fate is really the Duchess. For me this is like Beauty and the Beast when it comes to Dahlia and Lord Kirk. I liked Dahlia and her drive to enjoy life like her sisters who had found love. You wanted her to find that with Lord Kirk but he was a stubborn man. Lord Kirk was a man who was always with a scowl on his face and had a lot of pride especially when it came to those who thought to pity him. I did like Kirk and wanted him with Dahlia but only when he realizes his true feelings.
This seems like the final book as it concludes the sisters but at the very last page the Duchess makes a comment about how it is never too late to find love, she was talking about Charlotte. I don’t know if it will be written but I will certainly be reading more from Karen Hawkins.
Lily Balfour needs to marry a wealthy suitor to help her father out of debt and to help her sister not marry a man that she thought was too old. Lily will accept an invitation by her godmother who will lead her to a suitor but Lily will look to another man who will make her heart beat faster.
Prince Wulfinski or known as Wulf wanted a woman to love him for him, not his title or for his wealth. He will make up a lie and tell them he is poor. He will quickly fall for Lily but getting her to admit her feelings for him was a difficult task.
How to Pursue a Princess is the second book to Duchess Diaries series by Karen Hawkins. The first book was one I couldn’t get enough of and the second is the same way. I liked how the whole story flowed and I easily finished it from start to finish, not wanting to put the book down. When it comes down to it I really enjoyed reading about these characters. It was a book you could curl up and just read.
Lily is a straight forward kind of person but when she gets her first taste of passion she is torn between duty and love. I was cheering for her to chose love as you knew that Wulf was wealthy and would help but Lily would do what he had to do. Prince Wulf was all charm but not in a horrible rakish kind of way. He was a decent man who actually believed in love and wanted to marry for love. He does use seduction as a technique and is good at it but Lily will not quite give in. There is a happy ending for four people that is once all things are cleared up and the secret Wulf has been hiding is revealed.
I liked the godmother who interferes but in the nicest kind of way. What I also liked was reading her thoughts in the diary she wrote, which gave you more insight with what was going on inside the Duchesses mind. The diary placement was done like this in the first and more than likely will be in the third book.
I am reading the third book next and can’t wait to read Dahlia’s story.
Taylor Donovan was an up and coming lawyer trying to make partner when she will be given a task that will be her biggest challenge yet, babysitting a movie star. Helping out Jason Andrews, the sexiest man alive, was not something she wanted to do but her firm committed her to the job. She will help him prepare for his next film that is with lawyers and will hope that she doesn’t fall for him.
Jason Andrews was an actor who could get any job he wanted and any woman he wanted. Nobody ever said no to him that is until he met Taylor Donovan who was not falling for his charm. He wanted her and would do what he could to get her but will find out that it will not be easy and he might just have to follow his heart.
Just the Sexiest Man Alive is a novel by Julie James. I was thoroughly entertained by this book. I like Julie James style and how she develops her characters. Taylor was someone I liked a lot. She hardened herself when it came to love thanks to her past boyfriend/fiance who cheated on her. She will get a whirlwind of actors wanting her which was something different but she doesn’t really fall for either that is until she gets to know more about Jason. Jason was a spoiled actor who thought he could get anything. Taylor was the only person who didn’t throw herself at him and that made her to be a challenge. I did like Jason even though he was an idiot at times especially when it came to trying to get Taylor but he does grow up and show that he is a good man.
Okay who I didn’t like was Scott Casey who wanted nothing but fame and to steal what Jason had. He only wanted Taylor because she was hot and Jason wanted her. He was kind of an ass especially when it came to the paparazzi and getting a picture with Taylor. You wanted to shake Taylor and yell why are you trusting him but at least it doesn’t last long, up to only one date.
The ending with Jason and Taylor was perfect. I laughed at those last pages with how they were together but it also sizzled as they finally got together and made it work leaving us with the perfect happy ending.
