Rock Solid

Connor Prescott wanted more when it came to relationships but he seemed to be unable to forget the one who had gotten away. He had been with her almost three years ago and only knew her first name. Then by chance he will get a call from her three years later and she will give him unexpected news.

Rock Solid is the fourth book to the series Book Boyfriend by Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde. I liked this novel. Like the others it was fun, fast and steamy but I will say that out of all the books I would have to rank this one my least favorite. I suppose I just wasn’t pulled into the story as much but again it was well written and I was happy with the ending.

Connor for me was lovable like all the other guys, he was someone you wanted in your corner and he was sweet. The mystery woman, Katie, was heartbroken when she met Connor. She just wanted a one night stand. I did like that this was not a story of her holding on to a secret because she did not trust him. She was holding on to her secret because she honestly could not find Connor.

Overall this Book Boyfriend series was worth reading.

Well Built

Kyle Coleman wanted to do what was right for his mother but by doing that he was going to crush the dreams of the woman he had loved ten years ago. He will find a way to help her and find that his feelings never really went away.

Ella Fisher wanted the building next to her fathers store. She had a dream for her business but it will be interrupted when the man she had loved put a stop to her dream. She will learn to adjust but it will bring a lot of old feelings to the surface.

Well Built is the third book to the series Book Boyfriend by Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde. I really liked this novel. It was another quick and easy read that was filled with steamy scenes. Kyle and Ella have sexual chemistry that sizzles the pages.

Kyle was a man who had nothing and worked hard to build his life. He had everything, then when he saw the woman he loved it was a sign for him to try again. He was very determined to win Ella, at least after the auction. He wanted a second chance and he used their chemistry to make sure that happened and they had a lot of steamy chemistry. Ella was a young woman who wanted more but she didn’t really get out of her comfort zone to do more. I liked that she was starting to spread her wings some but she needed to take that final step.

I wish there was more on Gwen and at least her getting some responsibility but it did not happen. I did like that the father did show that he could change.

I am reading the last book of the series, Rock Solid, next.

Faking It

Max Sterling loved his job and his life but his mother would not leave him alone when it cam to his personal life. She thought he needed a wife, then something changed for Max. He will find out that woman he had been lusting after was not truly engaged. With the help of Hailey he will let his mom think he has changed as he steps in as Hailey’s fake fiance.

Hailey Ellison had been hurt by her last boyfriend and as a match maker she needed to show that she had a steady relationship. She created a fake fiance but she will be shocked when Max will step up and play the part.

Faking It is the second book to the series Book Boyfriend by Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde. This was another fun story that was easy to read, steamy and entertaining.

Max was a good man who loved his family and friends. He was a charming and smooth talking man but he was genuinely a good man. He was content with his life but when he meets Hailey he knew that he wanted more. I love that he was falling hard fast.  Hailey was a woman who had lived through tragedy and was still healing over criticism that had cut deep, which made her self conscious. But she was determined to make something of herself and she did. When she interacted with Max, a playful side came out. I really loved them together because they made sense and balanced each other.

I did want more with Addison. I think I wanted to see her get more in trouble and a little more justice but at least it was served.

I am reading Well Built next.

Big Shot

Wes Sinclair was adamant about winning the bet which he won fair and square. When he won he got Natalie to be his slave for two weeks. He will find ways to drive Natalie crazy but she will turn the tables on him until they both give in to desire.

Natalie Prescott was determined to win the bet she made with Wes but in the end she will lose, though things will quickly change between them. Natalie will find herself losing the bet but getting much closer to Wes.

Big Shot is the first book to the series Book Boyfriend by Carly Phillips. I really enjoyed this light and steamy read from Carly Phillips. Its a book that you can just sit down and read and enjoy the banter between Wes and Natalie.

Wes was an egotistical male but you could not help and like him. I wanted him to take a chance and just be honest with Natalie but it is hard to cross that boundary. I was cheering for him especially when he showed his gentler side, he was a true romantic at least when it came to Natalie. Natalie was a determined woman who wanted to do all that she could, she wanted to be the best. Like Wes, I wanted Natalie to open up to him about her feelings and tell him once and for all how she felt. Although I did like that she was not waiting for him, she was doing what she could with her life.

I really liked the cross over with the Dirty Sexy series. It was fun to read about the Kincaid brothers. It actually makes me want to reread their stories.

I am reading Faking It next.

The Longest Night

Mary Cameron, a Highland widow, was helping her best friends daughter get out into society. Mary missed her home in Scotland but she wanted to help. She will shocked to see Valentin, who was a man and something more. She had helped heal him back in Scotland and never thought she would see him again.

Baron Valentin, a Nvengarian bodyguard, was sent to be a bodyguard for an Ambassador and his wife of Nvengaria. He was on a mission but that will not take his complete attention away from searching for Mary. He wanted to find the woman he loved.

The Longest Night is the fourth story to the series Nvengaria by Jennifer Ashley. It had been a while since I read the other three stories from the series but I was quickly brought into the novella and enjoyed it. I wish it was a little longer. I wanted Mary and Valentin to get more to their story but what they got was enough to make a great story.

Mary was a widow and a woman in her thirties. She thinks she is over the hill and too old to be running away with a man. She was afraid to step out of place, but she was stronger than she knew. I liked that she became more brave and took that chance. Valentin was a bodyguard and a shapeshifter. He was loyal to the Prince and Grand Duke, although that was not always the case which was shown in the previous books. I really liked Valentin, he was a good match for Mary to shake up her stiffness and let her enjoy life and not be afraid of passion. It was also interesting to learn about him and the tragedy that feel upon his sister.

The mystery of who was shooting after who was intriguing and it kept me invested in the story. I wanted to get answers and find the villain. The Longest Night was a great addition to the Nvengaria series.

Catching Captain Nash

Captain Robert Nash was presumed dead for the last five years but he was back home and wanted his life back. He will come home and find his wife was about to be engaged to another man. Robert will put an end to that engagement but will wonder if he will be able to make Morwenna happy as they had been.

Morwenna Nash had grieved for five years for the husband that she had lost. Finally she has accepted a marriage proposal even though she did not love the gentleman. She will be stunned when her husband comes back from the grave. She hopes that she will be able to help him back into society and reclaim the love they had.

Catching Captain Nash is the six story to the series Dashing Widows by Anna Campbell. I actually enjoyed this book. The last couple stories have been good but not as good as the original trilogy. I was hesitant to read this one as the reviews were not great. There was not a lot going on with the story, it was primarily about a couple renewing the love that they had lost.

Now I will say that I think to do this story justice it could have been longer. With the story being so short the sex scenes were strange to me. I would not think that after five years of absence Morwenna would sleep with her husband the same night he came back, she would have been in shock. Though saying that I did like the relationship between them. I was cheering for Robert and Morwenna. I thought the scene with his daughter was sweet and I really enjoyed the epilogue. It was full of happiness and fluff but I would not have it any other way.

Anna has written another story in the series which features the man Morwenna jilted. This one will be a full length novel. I have a feeling I will be reading this story in the near future.

Vampires in America Vol 2

Vampires in America, The Vignettes Vol 2 is a collection of stories from the series. D.B Reynolds had written Vol 1 several years ago which were very enjoyable. Vol 2 was also very enjoyable and most of them were very steamy. I liked some stories more than others. Most of the stories were very short. There were a couple that were a little longer but again very short.

Cyn and Raphael’s stories are of course some of my favorites. Then there was one with Jared, who is Raphael’s lieutenant, which was very sweet. The one that I was looking forward to was Luci and Juro’s story. The story was a short story at the beginning of their relationship.

I am now waiting for the next installment of the series which will be Quinn.
