Rita Lucero will find a hidden necklace that was located in the bakery thanks to a new employee. She will be delighted with the find but as she learns more about the necklace Rita wonders if it is indeed cursed.
The Cakes of Monte Cristo is the sixth book to the series A Piece of Cake Mystery by Jacklyn Brady. I really liked this book, I got into the story right away. The mystery of the ruby necklace intrigued me. You wondered what family it truly belonged to and why was it hidden.
Rita is still stressed and jumping to conclusions but she seems a little less stressed. Though she is as curious as ever and stubborn as she does not believe everyone’s warning about the necklace. To be honest I don’t know if I would believe but I would be wary. I was happy that Miss Frankie wasn’t so overbearing with things she was having Rita complete. It seemed their relationship was back on track. Rita is still wondering about Ox and his resentment. It really seems that he doesn’t have any but Ox is not what you call a people person.
If this series is finished then I am happy for the most part, but there was no conclusion on to who Rita will be with and that bugs me. Jacklyn Brady is leaving it open. Although maybe this isn’t the end, if it isn’t I think I would be willing to continue reading it.
Clementine and Georgie were twins who were in the World Race games. Clementine was the nerdy twin and Georgie was the model. The two could not be more unalike but they would do anything for each other. Together they will have to go through the challenges and figure out who to trust within the game.
Partner Games is the last book in the series Games by Jessica Clare. I enjoyed this book.
I thought Clementine’s character was great. She was very nerdy and unsure of herself but she had guts and would do what was needed, especially for her sister. I didn’t like that Clementine was overlooked a lot, at least until Swift comes into the picture. Swift was another player in the game and he was all about Clementine. He had to keep his mind on the game but it had been hard as he was lusting after her. I liked that a romance between them started. It was lustful but sweet at the same time. They were a pair that you wanted to cheer for.
There will be a touchy subject, rape, that had happened to Georgie in the not too distant past, which I had a feeling about. She had showed all the traits of a person who had been abused. You felt for her and hoped that she would be whole again. I was thankful that Jessica Clare wrote in the character Plate who was a great match for Georgie, someone who will let her be the woman she wanted.
I thought this was a solid series from Jessica Clare and have enjoyed these characters.
Tyler Dare wanted to do his job but when his sister ask him to help Ella he has no choice but to say yes. For years Tyler tried to put distance between him and Ella but now he is wondering if he should close that distance.
Ella Shaw had wanted Tyler as long as she remembered, but he had broken her heart. Ella will be cautious when she lets Tyler back into her life. She tries to keep things light between them but she will not be able to control how her heart feels.
Dare to Take is the sixth book to the series Dare to Love by Carly Phillips. I really liked this story. This series is very fast paced and easy to read which for me is because of these characters.
Tyler’s character takes everything onto himself. He doesn’t ask for help even though he really needs it. I liked that Tyler will finally get it and he will be changing. Ella’s character was a girl who felt like she was worthless. She had come from little and because of disappointments in her life it left her self-esteem very low. This effected her but it didn’t consume her. Though when it came to a relationship with Tyler it made her wary, but he will also help show Ella that she is a strong woman. I will say that it will be Ella who takes that final step, which I liked.
The chemistry between Tyler and Ella is of course explosive. I wanted them together but I wanted Tyler to stop being scared and running from what he wanted. Every time he ran from Ella he hurt her that much more.
So, the father, Robert Dare, really disappointed me. This is a spoiler alert. If you don’t want to know what Robert Dare did stop reading now. I had thought Robert Dare made progress with getting along with Avery but in this book Tyler will find his father with another woman. So Robert Dare is now cheating on his present wife, Savannah. You also learn that Tyler had learned about his father’s cheating with Savannah when he was 14 and was told by his father to keep quiet. His father obviously wants Tyler to do the same. Now I don’t know if he would be the best person to confess to Savannah, a part of me doesn’t want him to since Savannah was the one who helped break up his family. In the book Tyler will tell his mother but nothing gets resolved. I suppose that it will in the next books.
I am looking forward to reading the next book and finding out which sibling will be written about next.
Mac wanted Delilah from the moment that he had seen her but he had to stay away. He did not want to repeat past mistakes, but then Mac will have to help Delilah and he will find himself in close proximity to her. For Mac it will be hard to concentrate but in order to keep Delilah and her uncle safe, Mac had to keep his head in the mission.
Delilah had fallen in love with Mac but she knew he was just not interested. Though when Delilah’s uncle is taken she goes to the Black Knights, specifically to Mac, for help. She will be grateful for the help especially when she finds out there is much more to her uncle’s kidnapping.
Hell for Leather is the sixth book to the series Black Knights Inc by Julie Ann Walker. Its been awhile since I picked up a book from the author and I found myself not having a problem following along. Though I will say it took me a little time to get back into the book. It was mostly because I was trying to remember the other characters that were being mentioned in the book. Once I let go of that notion I sat back and enjoyed the book, and it was very enjoyable.
I found Mac’s character likable and a badass, but was a little annoying with his need not to fall for Delilah especially when you find out the reason he needs to stay away. I can understand his reasoning especially when you get the whole story but every situation is different. Mac can’t see beyond what had happened to him in the past. Then there is Delilah who is a vibrant woman but she had gone through a lot within the past couple of years. I liked that she stays strong but inside she is an emotional mess. That made her feel real.
Well there is some definite action that comes to the Black Knights thanks to Delilah. Through the first half of the book I was wondering why would the bad guys had taken Delilah’s uncle. The truth will be revealed which made sense for why the bad guys were going after the uncle and Delilah.
Kylie was a makeup artist and on her way to a great new job. The only problem happens when she meets a guy, Cade Archer. She will have a one night stand but will find that Cade will be following her. Kylie wants more but the problem was her new boss, Daphne, wants Cade as well.
Cade Archer had been in love with Daphne for years but he finally saw the light and knew she would never be that girl again. It will be then that Cade will meet another woman and will instantly want her. She was everything he had wanted but he just had to get her to believe him.
One Night with a Billionaire is Billionaire Boys Club sixth book by Jessica Clare. I really liked this book. I thought it was a good finish to the series especially the last scene of the book. It gave some humor and a place for these brothers and their significant others.
Alright now Cade’s character was always the good guy, the calm guy, and the dependable guy. I liked that he was all those things but it drove me nuts that he kept wanting Daphne. Though he wanted the Daphne that he knew years ago. I liked that he let himself let loose and tried to be happy. The other character is Kylie who has had her own troubled childhood where she had felt like a burden. She never wants to feel like that again which is why she is so independent. I liked that she tried to make sure that her relationship with Cade was secret to protect Daphne but it got annoying. I wanted her to be just happy with Cade and be accepted, not hide. But what was worse was how Daphne’s people just let her get away with anything. Daphne’s manager was the worst of them all.
Daphne, Daphne, Daphne. She was a character. I really disliked her to the point that is was really hoping that Cade wasn’t stupid to fall for her again. There were some times that you saw her as not a bad person but there were plenty more with times she was horrible. I will say this and I think Jessica Clare gave the right ending to Daphne’s story.
So that is it for the Billionaire Boys Club but I am looking for more books to read. One series I am going towards is Hitman.
Heath Champion wanted a wife and decided to hire a matchmaker to make it happen. Though when Heath set out to hire a matchmaker he wasn’t expecting to hire a second matchmaker, but he found himself not being able to say no to Annabelle.
Annabelle Granger wanted to make her grandmother’s old business of matchmaking into success. Her first big client was Heath and she was determined to find him a match, and will be just as determined not to fall for the client.
Match Me If You Can is the sixth book to the series Chicago Stars by Susan Elizabeth Phillips. I really liked this book but I will have to be honest, at the beginning it wasn’t pulling me into the story like the others. Of course once I got through the first chapter I was enjoying the story.
Heath and Annabelle together seemed like oil and water, they just didn’t mix. Of course that is not the case as they will find themselves attracted to each other which made it difficult to find Heath a match. Annabelle’s character was strong in believing that she can do what she needed even with others telling her it would be too hard. I liked that she had a backbone when it came to standing up against Heath. It didn’t work all the time but she was not weak. Heath’s character was a man that worked until he got what he wanted. He was a hard man at times but throughout the book he will start to soften up, especially when Pippi, Molly’s daughter, interacts with him.
Annabelle’s family was very loud and gave their opinions. Annabelle resented or a better word was embarrassed by them. She felt bullied at times but she still loved them. I thought it was interesting when Phillips described Heath’s interaction with them and what he saw when they were talking with Annabelle. It gave a different spin from an outsiders point of view.
I have the last book to the series which I will be reading next.
Phury chose to sacrifice himself for the Brotherhood and become the Primale. He will have to mate with the Chosen to secure the new generation. Phury though will not want the responsibility especially when he starts to feel things for one of the Chosen in particular.
Chosen Cormia was ready to be the First Mate but it appeared that the Primale didn’t want her. Cormia was heartbroken as she started to feel things for this man. She will have to sacrifice her happiness to make sure that her kind prevailed.
Lover Enshrined is the sixth book to the series Black Dagger Brotherhood by JR Ward. So I really liked this book. I thought it was well written like the others. I had been waiting for Phury’s story and to find out more about him but there were problems for me with the book. Alright they aren’t serious problems but there were parts to the book that got me annoyed, though I had to keep reading the book because I had to make sure that a happy ending happened.
Phury’s character is flawed with the drugs and guilt that he feels for his twin and how he thinks he loves his brothers mate. I wanted to shake Phury and tell him that it wasn’t real love like what he could have for Cormia. I also wanted to yell at him for not going with Cormia. He kept looking towards her sisters which if he completed the mating then she would be heartbroken. Honestly Phury was his own worst enemy. So then the character of Cormia was very much like an innocent. Everything in the world to her was new and strange. Though what she felt for Phury as she got to know him was real. I wanted her to find that chance with Phury but he kept pushing her away.
Towards the end of the book I was really wondering if there was going to be a happy ending between Phury and Cormia because there were too many obstacles around them. I was left happy especially as there was another surprise at the end that dealt with the Brotherhood.
There has always been a lot going on in this series with each book but I felt that this one has even more. One side story is with John and his two buddies, which will parallel with Lash’s story. I am really looking forward to reading John and about his two friends stories which I know that they will have their own story. Now Lash was a bully and it seems that he is even more of one now, and he is bad news. I have no doubt that he will be trouble later on in the series.
So I am continuing the series with the seventh book.
Gillian Dashwood had enjoyed her first marriage in the beginning but her husband had changed and he became a different man, a man that she did not love especially as he offered her up to pay a wager. Gillian will find freedom when her husband will be murdered and she is suspected but never accused. She survives the rumors but two years later the rumors are there and someone knows what had happened about her husbands wager that night. She will find help from Lucien Joslyn who is a friend of her uncle’s. Together they will find out what happened that night and more.
Desire Becomes Her is the sixth to the series Becomes Her by Shirlee Busbee. I absolutely loved this book. I liked the previous one but it didn’t grab me. I was grabbed right away into the plot with the sixth book and only wanted more which propelled me to continue with the book. I kept flipping the pages wanting to know who was the murderer.
I liked Gillian and how strong she had to make herself become especially with her first husband. She built a tough exterior especially with the rumors but Luc will break through them. His seductive ways will help him in that task. Within the last book you got to know him but now you get to read about his character and yes he is charming and seductive but you liked him because he wasn’t a bad man. I was cheering for Gillian and Luc to find a way to be with each other and of course they do. I also liked that they were a team especially when it came down to finding the murder but Luc still kept things from Gillian and she was the same way. That will not stop love from blooming and when trust happens their happy ending is not far behind.
There was more mystery within the novel which got my interest because there was something to solve. I will say that I did not guess the villain but it made sense once they were revealed.
As I am done with the series it is time to move on to another author.
Pierce Waverly, the Earl of Devonmont, had been turned away from his own family when he was a little boy which left him estranged from his mother. He will receive a letter telling him that his mother was deathly ill and Pierce flees but will find out that was a lie by his mother’s companion. Pierce will be angry but will find himself staying to seduce the companion. By staying at his mothers home he will start to feel things again and will want his childhood he missed.
Mrs. Camilla Stuart was a widow with a young son and was companion to a countess. She will write a letter wanting the Earl home for the countess. Camilla had seen how sad the countess was and wanted to make her feel better. When Pierce does come home Camilla will find out that there is more to the story and neither mother or son were willing to discuss, at least not right away.
‘Twas the Night After Christmas is the sixth book to the series Hellions of Halstead Hall by Sabrina Jeffries. First off loved this book. I would say that my favorites of the series were with Oliver, Minerva and now Pierce who was an extension of the family. He was first introduced in the fourth book with Gabe. Pierce is the cousin of Virginia who made life a little difficult for Gabe in that book.
This last book is all about Pierce and his story which as I said above I loved it. This story is a heartbreaking tale of a son who loved his mother but was rejected by her and he was sent away to school and never to come back home for the holidays. You felt for Pierce, it was actually heartbreaking reading his thoughts about his mother. There was a strong sense of betrayal but in the back of my mind I thought that it did not make sense. The mother loved her son, so why did she turn her back on her son. Then you read what she said when he was twenty one and it further broke your heart for Pierce. Though once again it felt wrong with the mother. The mystery behind those years left me wondering and turning the pages.
Pierce was a cold man but that was thanks to his upbringing or lack there of. Though he had his good moments because he was a good man but it was under his exterior. He wanted to stay angry and to punish his mother. I like Jeffries writing for Pierce. With his thoughts you got to know the man much better. I liked Camilla who was the widow and companion of his mother. She was on the mothers side but she kept an open mind and soon becomes Pierce’s champion.
Love blooms between Pierce and Camilla though he doesn’t realize that because he doesn’t want to. Camilla wants him but knows he cannot love which means her future would be uncertain. I liked that Pierce did not stay the cold man as he was and doesn’t give up. There was also a surprise with Camilla that gave her something more.
The mystery of why Pierce’s mother turned her back will be solved at the end which was not as bad as I thought it would be. You felt for the mother as well but Jeffries will make sure that this mother and son have a chance for a do over and get that relationship that they were denied for years. So in the end we got our happy ending all around.
Lucas Donlon, Vampire Lord of the Plains located in the Badlands of America, is at war with the Midwest Vampire Lord. Lucas is someone who enjoys life and can be charming but when trouble is coming to his borders he will do everything to stop the intruder.
Kathryn Hunter is Special Agent of the FBI and has gone off on her own to find her brother who went missing in the Badlands. Armed with her gun and knowledge Kathryn knows that she will have no help from the FBI but she will be surprised when help will come her way in the form of a Vampire Lord, Lucas.
Lucas is the sixth book to the series Vampires in America by D B Reynolds. Since starting this series I have found myself very impressed with the plots and characters that were detailed in these books. There is that instant sex appeal but also a lot of good action that has the characters having to find a way out of the trouble that is getting too close to them. So basically Lucas was really a fantastic book just like the others in the series.
Lucas I liked a lot as he was very charming and he had that personality that made you feel like he was your best friend but get on his bad side and he would do what needed to be done. Kathryn was a strong woman, all the woman in this series are strong in their own ways, and was determined to find her brother. I liked that she was not one to back down especially when facing Lucas who could be intimidating.
Like the others in the series Lucas and Kathryn will find themselves intensely attracted to each other and they will succumb to that attraction. It would be hard for these mates to resist each other and Reynolds writes those scenes between them very well. Now lets not forget about Daniel who will have a good ending which has Kathryn rejoicing to have found her brother.
There is an enemy that has been identified at the end of the book which was not a stretch to the imagination as Reynolds will let you know that she is one pissed off vampire. At the end of the book there will also be Aden who is mentioned right on the last page. This of course intrigued me and now I really want to know more about this Aden.
So I have the novellas Betrayed and Hunted on my kindle and as I was trying to re-read and read the first time these books in order then I screwed up because I didn’t read read Betrayed before the sixth book, Lucas. I have a feeling it will still be a very good read as Reynolds has not disappointed me with her books. Hunted is right after the sixth book so I will be reading that in the correct order and then it will be on to Aden which is the seventh book to the series and last one that I own, at least for now.
