Ice Games

Zara Pritchard had been an Olympic but her reputation was in ruins when she walked away during her routine when she was fourteen. Now Zara has a second chance at figure skating with a reality tv show. She is hesitant and even more so when she meets her partner.

Ty Randall did not think that a ice skating show was going to repair his reputation with the MMA but he was forced to go with it. He will fight with his partner every step but then something will change between them.

Ice Games is the third book to the series Games by Jessica Clare. I really enjoyed this novel. It was a fun story based on Dancing with the Stars.

I liked Zara’s character because she had learned from her mistake. She had been young and thrust into the limelight. She was doing her best to still make something of herself. The reality tv show was funny with how it was rigged, which you have to wonder how many of those shows are rigged. Ty’s character was at first someone I thought I would hate. He was going to be too cocky but all he really wanted was a second chance at his career. He got it together with the help of Zara. The romance reader in me loved the ending because it wrapped up everything in a nice bow, and I was happy with that.

I am moving forward with the series and will be reading the fourth book next.

Smooth Talking Stranger

Jack Travis was astonished when a woman and a baby showed up at his office claiming the child was his. Jack knew he was not the father but instead of sending them away Jack helped them. He wanted to keep Ella and Luke close to him.

Ella Varner always helped her sister which was why she ended up taking care of her nephew, Luke. She was out of her depth but was determined. Ella will end up getting help from an unexpected source, Jack.

Smooth Talking Stranger is the third book to the series Travises by Lisa Kleypas. I really loved this book. For me this series gets better and better. Hopefully the last book will keep going with the trend.

For me this was all about character development of Jack and Ella. These two characters very much had commitment phobia. Yet they were placed together and feelings towards each other started to take form. I really loved Jack. He was a dater of women but from the moment he saw Ella he wanted her, and for more than one night. I liked how he handled Ella with care and truly wanted her for her. He was very persistent. He was also very patient when helping with Luke. Ella character was a fixer. She tried to help her sister but it never really helped, though she always tried. That is why she helped take the baby Luke. She was very determined especially keeping away from Jack. I liked that she did try her best to stay away from him and didn’t just jump in his bed. Their courtship was a slow seduction that is until Jack made it clear to Ella with what he wanted.

Ella’s mother was a piece of work. She was all about herself and very manipulative especially when it came to Ella. I liked that Jack was able to handle her but it broke my heart how she couldn’t truly love her daughters. Then there was Tara’s character who started the whole mess. It wasn’t that I disliked her greatly but she did think more about herself than others. I will say that she made up for her mess at the end.

Now the mystery behind Luke’s father was very easy to figure out once the players were introduced, but I enjoyed the mystery behind it.

I am reading the last book to the series next.

Dirty Sexy Cuffed

Levi Kincaid liked control in his everyday life and especially in the bedroom. He will find his world getting twisted around when he meets Sarah. He will want her more than any woman he ever had and he will protect her at all cost.

Sarah Robins was on the run from her ex-boyfriend and the cult that had taken her in. She was trying to get her life together when Levi shows up in her life. She knows that nothing can come of a relationship but Sarah will give in anyways.

Dirty Sexy Cuffed is the third book to the series Dirty Sexy by Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde. This was another book to the series that was very enjoyable. These books for me are very quick reads. I will say that I wouldn’t have minded a little more on the cult aspect. I think it would have added a little more to the story.

Levi’s character thrived in life with control. He avoided anything that would make him lose his control. I liked that with Sarah in his life he was letting go. Levi’s dominant control was always going to be there but he was softening. Sarah’s character was a young woman who needed help but she was too proud to ask and weary of strangers. I liked that Sarah was able to take a chance with Levi though he had to work hard to gain her trust.

This series has one more book which will be about Clay’s twin brother. I am thinking that this brother will be a surprise to the others as throughout the last three books no twin brother had been mentioned. I am reading Dirty Sexy Sinner next.

Devil in Spring

Lady Pandora Ravenel just wanted to create her board games and sell them. She had no need to enjoy society as she was not looking for a husband, although that is exactly what she will get. Pandora will get caught up in a scandal and find out that having a husband might not be a bad thing.

Gabriel, St Lord Vincent, was only trying to help a young woman out of some trouble. Then he will be brought into a scandal and be forced to make that woman his wife. Though Gabriel will find out that it wouldn’t be quite as dismal as he thought.

Devil in Spring is the third book to the series Ravenels by Lisa Kleypas. So I have been waiting for this book and waiting since I had heard about it. It was only because I was excited to read about Gabriel, who is Evie’s and Sebastian’s son. They are from the book Devil in Winter, which has to be one of my favorites. After finishing the book I can say the book was okay, it was by no means my favorite, which is a shame as I was really anticipating loving this book.

I think my issues with the book was that it just felt very slow, I was pushing myself at times to read the story. Then the story line with the villain which really was rushed. I think a story line could have been developed a little better with the problem but it was just not. The last is Pandora’s character. Now I didn’t mind that she was clumsy or spoke her mind without thinking. You knew that she loved her family and did the best that she could. The part that was weird was when all of a sudden Pandora’s character became more childlike. It was strange and it threw me off the story a little.

Alright, enough of the bad and now with good. I loved that Evie and Sebastian make several appearances within the story. They made the story more interesting. Gabriel’s character was similar to his father. I liked that when he found the right woman he was to be devoted even when his ex-mistress comes into the story. Now Pandora, even though I disliked her at times, I loved her business sense. She was making her own board games and selling them. She was a strong female who knew that she wanted more from her life.

So even though I had some issues with this book I know when the next Ravenels books is out I will pick it up and read it.

Wrong Question, Right Answer

Wrong Question, Right AnswerAntoinette “Toni” Delacourte was used to being tough and distant from those around her. Though that will change when she sleeps with Lucky. She thought their one night would be done but then she finds out about the consequence from that night and her world has completely changed.

Lucky has gone through a depression after the loss of his sister. He wants to be happy and he will finally take a chance with the woman he has loved since he was a teenager.

Wrong Question, Right Answer is the third book to the series The Bourbon Street Boys by Elle Casey. I thought this novel was good, not great but still entertaining.

The thing that bugged me about the novel was Toni and her attitude. Now her attitude has been there since the beginning but it does get a little annoying. I liked that she loosened up a little especially when she was pregnant but it takes a lot of time for that to happen. Lucky’s character was too good to be true. I loved that he was ready for whatever life threw at him especially as he was battling his own demons. Lucky was able to help heal himself and Toni.

This is the end of the series, that is until Toni’s brother has his story which is coming out in March.

Winning Lord West

Winning Lord WestHelena, Countess of Crewe, had gone through nine years of marriage to a man she loathed. She wanted to be free and to just live her life. She did not want to find another man to be with but Lord West will tempt her with wanting more.

Vernon Grange, Lord West, has loved Helena but was too young to realize it at the time. After ten years West was finally going to pursue Helena and would not stop until she was his.

Winning Lord West is the third book to the series Dashing Widows by Anna Campbell. I really liked this story. I had been waiting for Helena and West because there was always that connection between them.

The plot surprised me with West. You knew that he wanted Helena and that he wanted marriage because he loved her, but West had gotten sick while in Russia. I was really hoping that the sickness wasn’t going towards a premature death for West. What I liked with West was that he did put his heart on the line with Helena. He pursued because he truly loved her. I also liked that Campbell went back to the picnic that was in the first book which let you see what was said between West and Helena. So Helena’s character is very much a woman who doesn’t want to be with anyone because she had enough hurt for the last nine years. She didn’t want to open her heart up again. I liked that she was brave to do just that and because of that she became a stronger woman emotionally.

There is an epilogue which goes into what is happening several years later. I like it when authors do that so as the reader I know a little more on the characters and whether they are happy or not. Overall this was a really good series to read but this series is not over as I had thought. There is another book out Pursuing Lord Pascal which I will be reading soon.

Some Guys Need a Lot of Lovin’

Some Guys Need a Lot of Lovin'Marcus Weston was a paramedic and beloved coach of the football team for young kids. He was happy with his life then a brush fire will change everything for Marcus when one of his players will die in the fire.

Juanita Slattery was moving to a small town for a couple months to work. She never expected to find her one night stand in the town or that he was a man who needed therapy. Juanita will know to stay away but with Marcus she will not be able to help herself.

Some Guys Need a Lot of Lovin’ is the third book to the series Outback Heat by Amy Andrews. I liked this book. This felt different than the others, it had a more emotional pull with how Marcus was feeling.

Juanita’s character was a strong driven woman who was very independent. I liked that she was like that but also that she was a woman to make her own decisions. She didn’t let the man dictate what she needed to do. Though I did like Marcus’s take charge attitude when he was with Juanita, although Juanita had that same take charge attitude. Marcus’s character was a happy go lucky guy and someone who was a bit of a player. Though it was interesting to read how it all changed with him. I thought Amy Andrews did a really good job writing about Marcus’s PTSD. I could believe that his character had it. The ending was heartbreaking but it was what was needed for Marcus.

I am reading the fourth book next. I am looking forward to Ethan’s and JJ’s story.
