The Seductive One

The Seductive OneBrenna Marcelli passion was the winery but for the last ten years that life had died thanks to her ex husband. She wants to now prove herself that she is good enough to run a winery which will lead her to her family’s nemesis to ask for a loan.

Nic Giovanni was a direct competition to the Marcelli’s winery and his only goal was to claim it. His opportunity comes when the woman he loved ten years ago ask him for a loan. He will give it knowing that when he calls it in she will be ruined.

The Seductive One is the third book to the series Marcelli Sisters of Pleasure Road by Susan Mallery. With each book I love this crazy family even more. This one I will say had a little more of cruelty within the book as revenge was a focus. On a side note I had thought this was already published on my site as I was reading these books in order last week. I guess I just saved it instead of publishing it, so here’s the review.

I liked Brenna’s drive and courage to try the winery business on her own. I thought she was wrong ten years ago for not following her heart with Nic but life is messy. Alright now I liked Nic but he was too headstrong with the idea of revenge. I could understand Nic’s pain but he was taking it too far and when the truth came out he would be the one left with heartbreak. Now besides revenge there is a steamy chemistry that these two characters have with each other. It was something that they could build from.

One character that is still driving me crazy is the grandfather. He was so old school that you wanted to smack so sense back into him. Though there will be a little surprise at the end with this family that will show you they have a chance to move into the twenty first century.

So the new brother, Joe, was not what I expected which I liked. I am looking forward to reading his story and finding out how his life with the Marcelli family will change him.

A Marcelli Wedding

A Marcelli WeddingA Marcelli Wedding is a collection of two books, The Marcellie Bride and The Marcelli Princess by Susan Mallery. These are the last two series from the series Marcelli Sisters of Pleasure Road. I have already read the last book so I know what will be happening in Mia’s life but I will be rereading it right after the fourth book which will complete the series for me.

The Marcelli Bride

Joe Marcelli was new to his family and kept his distance as they wanted him to take his rightful place in the family. Instead Joe stayed with the Navy as that was his first love which will lead him to another job. He will have to protect one of the President’s daughter from another kidnapping attempt.

Darcy Jensen was the President’s daughter that everyone forgot. She didn’t like the limelight and felt like the outcast of the family. She will find herself being taken to a winery where she will feel special and loved for just being herself.

I really loved this book just like the other three. This one had a little more action with the kidnapping which Darcy went through. There is also a secret that Darcy carries which has made herself distant between her family. You find out the secret pretty quickly and I don’t blame her from being distant as it was a big blow to her reality. As far as Darcy’s character I liked her. She was not the strong heroine type but a nervous and scared woman who felt out of place. I liked that she flourished under the care of the Marcelli family. Now Joe is like an outsider as well to his family as he only has known them for a couple years. I liked Joe pretty much right from the beginning. He was a tough guy and guarded. You wanted him to let his guard down and let himself be loved, and you wanted Darcy to be that person to love him.

As a side note I thought Mia still was a little immature but you couldn’t help but like her. She does grow up in the last book and you get to see a knew side of Mia which I liked.

I thought that Marcelli Sisters of Pleasure Road series was a one that was worth reading and I enjoyed  every book to this series.

The Sassy One

The Sassy OneFrancesca Marcelli had a goal to get her degree in psychology which had her doing a social experiment. One of her experiments will lead her to Sam Reese. Francesca decided to take a chance and have a fling with Sam but things will get completed when his daughter shows up.

Sam Reese was thrilled when Francesca said she wanted no strings but things will get completed. Sam will find himself face to face with a daughter he had no knowledge about. He was out of depth handling a twelve year but he will find help from Francesca.

The Sassy One is the second book to the series Marcelli Sisters of Pleasure Road by Susan Mallery. I really loved this book. I am taken in with the story primarily because it was a really entertaining story. The family is still around and sometimes impossible but you know they love each other.

Francesca is self conscious of what others think about her and is doing her best to prove that she can do what she needs. In walks the complication which is Sam. She wanted a fling but of course you know that will not last especially when something Francesca had not expected happened. Now Sam was a good man but he was out of his limit when it came to children. It was pretty much like that throughout the book, it was like he wanted to pull his hair out in frustration and that whatever he did he screwed up with Kelly. It was realistic and it made me like his character because I was cheering for him to get it right. But with Sam there are more downs than ups.

There were a lot of things that happened within the book that were not just about Francesca and Sam. There was the introduction of Kelly, who is Sam’s daughter, who showed up out of the blue. I liked Kelly. I think Mallery wrote the character well because she certainly acted like a hurt teenager. Then there was the surprise brother. I was thrown with this but knew there was going to be a story with a male Marcelli as there are five stories and four of them are with the sisters. I am looking forward for the newest Marcelli’s story but first I have to read Brenna’s story who will be interacting with her first love. I will be reading her story next.

The Sparkling One

The Sparkling OneKatie Marcelli is a party planner and is landing a big job. The problem was the man who hired her, Zach Stryker, was too good looking and looked liked he was going to become her sisters Father-in-law, and he wanted nothing more to stop the wedding.

Zach Stryker knew that his son was marrying too young at eighteen. He just had to prove that his son was making a mistake but Zach will be distracted by the older sister of his son’s fiance.

The Sparkling One is the first book to the series Marcellie Sisters of Pleasure Road by Susan Mallery. I have to say that I really liked this book. It flew by as I wanted to know how Katie and Zach would find a way to be with each other.

I liked Katie’s character. She was a strong, independent woman but she was still timid when standing up to her family. Katie will have her moment which will have me cheering for her. Zach’s character I thought would be ruthless with this family but he really wasn’t. He was just a worried father. Now when Katie and Zach do find that they have chemistry the pages will sizzle. I really liked them together as they were perfect for each other, they just had to figure it out for themselves.

Alright now Mia I had already read about in the last book of the series, but it has been a while. I will be rereading that book as I go through the series. I liked Mia’s character, she was much more mature than David. Now David wasn’t a bad kid but that is what he was, a kid. I didn’t like how immature David got with what he did but it all turned out for the best.

Susan Mallery sets up the series by giving us insights to these sisters and this crazy family. The grandfather is a piece of work but you know they all love each other. I am going to be reading the second book next which will be all about Francesca.

Revenge at Bella Terra

Eli Di Lucca is the oldest siblings and has to face his demons of his past. Not only is his childhood past haunting him the failure of his families business is troubling. Loosing the money hit him where it hurt but now there is a chance to get it back. It would only cost him a wife.

Chloe Robinson is a new author with her first book published. It was only last year did she meet her father and since then he has been trying to get her married to the men he keeps throwing at her. Chloe will not know that Eli has been made an offer. Chloe doesn’t like to have her life manipulated but Eli will disarm her and love will follow but not before revenge.

The second book Revenge at Bella Terra was fantastic. Christina Dodd brings mystery, betrayal and heartache all the while a romance was building even if it was based on a lie. As I read on I found myself thinking of the other series of hers with the Fortune Hunters. There is something in the way the brothers are portrayed that they remind me of the ones in the other series. I guess it is they are all strong noble men with a tortured life (tortured emotional, no killing) due to their family.

Throughout the book I loved and hated Eli. He was the eldest and the one that was responsible and took it serious but you knew that once he made the deal with her father it would come back to haunt him later on. Dodd makes sure it does.

Now Chloe was a very enchanting character as she drew upon her innocence. But she was strong in her convictions. I liked that she didn’t back down and become weak when trouble started.

From the first book I noticed the family is very old world Italian and I liked that it was about the family and protecting each other. It was humorous with Chloe’s father (another Italian) and the contract he made, he was very old school Italian and just wanted his daughter to have security and protection, and of course grandchildren.

As a Dodd fan I was definitely pleased with Revenge at Bella Terra and can’t wait for Noah’s turn.

Secrets of Bella Terra

Christina Dodd’s stories I have found are always tough to read, not hard to understand but there is never an easy way with the characters in the books. In Bella Terra Deception series first book, Secrets of Bella Terra, Dodd packs a wallop in the very first scene and immediately you are drawn into learn about the secrets Bella Terra has to offer.

Rafe Di Lucca is the middle brother of his siblings and has been away for a time but now is back due to his grandmother. Seeing her in the hospital was not something he wanted to see. He knew he would find the killer but Rafe didn’t expect to find help from the girl he had loved back in high school. For Rafe finding the attacker was number one priority but it was hard to do when all he wanted to do was kiss her.

Brooke Petersson is good at her job. She loves her home, her mom and the people around her. When she saw Rafe walk through the hospital her heart skipped at beat. She knew feelings were still there for her but couldn’t tell on his part. She knew lust was still there but she wanted more, the love they once had. But love would have to wait as a murder was walking around and accidents were happening left and right at the resort.

With the first book you find out all about the Di Lucca and the dysfunction they call a family. That alone made the plot interesting but with the attacks Dodd gives intrigue in the plot.

Her characters are all harden to a point with how life had treated them. Both Rafe and Brooke are two strong willed people who will not bend for one another in fears of being rejected. I liked that there was a struggle for the true feelings to appear and really shine. Of course for Rafe half the time I wanted someone to hit him as he was bull headed and didn’t understand what he said to upset Brooke.

Now for the first book of this series there was a lot of intrigue and mystery surrounding the happening in Bella Terra that made you want to flip the pages. The stubborn grandmother who was attacked helped you want to stay involve as she was matriarch of the family and was an entertaining character.

Aside from the struggling love story I really liked the plot of betrayal and sabotage that was interwoven within the pages. You knew the bad guys but not to the extent of who would really be doing this and why. Dodd leaves that to the end to give a solid ending for Rafe and Brooke.

With one brother down it will be Eli who will be in the next one with Revenge at Bella Terra.

L.A and Napa Collide

Christie Ridgway’s book Crush on You is the first book of the series Three Kisses Trilogy. Reading the summary I was interested. There was something about the book that makes you interested and want to know more.

Alessandra Baci is known as the Nun of Napa through the town because of a tragedy which left her with a broken heart. Five years have past and Alessandra keeps up her vibe through town but there will be one man who will threaten to break what she has been holding on to.

Penn Bennett is known in Hollywood and is back with his half brothers in Napa. Starting a new job was not in this break but he ended up with that and working with the Nun of Napa. Penn doesn’t believe in Alessandra and finds ways to rattle her. Working with her on saving the winery seemed like the solution as he knew she needed him. But Penn will start something much more.

The book was slow to begin. Christie Ridgway brings you into the story but it is slow going. I liked the characters and you get to know them but not as much to stay completely invested. Then as you are diving into the story you get that connection. Penn and Alessandra’s characters start to make sense and you want to see how it plays out.

I liked the other characters of Gil and Clare being told at the same time. The one thing that I didn’t like was Alessandra’s weakness to stay the same but through the plot she grows and changes into the woman and all is changed at the end.
