Clementine and Georgie were twins who were in the World Race games. Clementine was the nerdy twin and Georgie was the model. The two could not be more unalike but they would do anything for each other. Together they will have to go through the challenges and figure out who to trust within the game.
Partner Games is the last book in the series Games by Jessica Clare. I enjoyed this book.
I thought Clementine’s character was great. She was very nerdy and unsure of herself but she had guts and would do what was needed, especially for her sister. I didn’t like that Clementine was overlooked a lot, at least until Swift comes into the picture. Swift was another player in the game and he was all about Clementine. He had to keep his mind on the game but it had been hard as he was lusting after her. I liked that a romance between them started. It was lustful but sweet at the same time. They were a pair that you wanted to cheer for.
There will be a touchy subject, rape, that had happened to Georgie in the not too distant past, which I had a feeling about. She had showed all the traits of a person who had been abused. You felt for her and hoped that she would be whole again. I was thankful that Jessica Clare wrote in the character Plate who was a great match for Georgie, someone who will let her be the woman she wanted.
I thought this was a solid series from Jessica Clare and have enjoyed these characters.
Rose Thayer was the maid of honor for her best friend. She arrived in New Orleans expecting the usual wedding events but she will find herself being sent to the bachelor party as a stripper to find out if the groom will cheat.
New Orleans is the first book to the series Sex, Lies & Wedding Cake by Cat Johnson. Alright, I liked the novella for the most part but I felt that the author could have a lot done more. The transitions between the scenes were too quick, and it seemed that I was missing pieces. I wanted more to the story, for her to flush out the characters. I wanted to know more about Rose and Tim, but all we got was a strange situation and sex. Still there were funny moments, I just wanted more.
I am going to continue with the other two books of the series as I am curious about what will happen next.
Double the Pleasure is a collection of four stories by four different authors. My drive to read this book was because of Lori Foster’s novella Deuces Wild. This novella is part of the series Winston Brothers and Cousins. I loved this series especially the story that had Joe in it. I liked this novella. It was short but overall it was good. The story was about twin brothers and Hart had to leave but needed Dex to stay and pretend to be him. The problem happens when Dex’s meets and girl and she thinks that he is Hart, and Dex goes along with the lie. I felt that the girl forgave a little too easily but it had to be done quickly with the story being a novella. I liked the twin brothers. With reading Dex’s story I am intrigued with Hart and what was going on with the girl he had been with then left. It might be awhile before I find his story but I will be on the look out for it.
The other authors and their stories are The Lucy of the Irish by Deirdre Martin, which is about a carpenter who has the choice of going home to Ireland or sticking around in New York. With this one I wished that it was a book because then you would have gotten to really know the characters. You got to know them but it felt way to quick. The next book is Your Room or Mine? by Jacquie D’ Alessandro. This one is all about coworkers who judge each other to quickly but with a weekend to bond things will heat up. I liked the story. Once again I thought it was too short but it was enjoyable. The last book of the collection is Double the Danger by Penny McCall which is with an FBI agent and witness protection. Personally I wasn’t that into the book. I read it but it didn’t really thrill me.
Overall I will have to say that this collection was an enjoyable read.
Audrey Petty has loved Cade since she was young but he never saw her more than a sister. She hoped that spending time together would change that but she will have a distraction. The distraction is the playboy Reese whose goal was to annoy her. Audrey put up with his annoyance but when things started to get heated she will finally give into temptation.
The Wrong Billionaire’s Bed is the third book to the series Billionaire Boys Club by Jessica Clare. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
Audrey was very professional and strict with herself which I didn’t really mind though you wanted to at times shake her, so that she would wake up. I actually thought it was good that she was so responsible because it was needed. What she needed to learn though was when to walk away from her troubled sister. I have to say that when she got flirty with Reese I was cheering for them. I liked Cade but he was too much like Audrey. There was no real spark, now with Reese it was like an explosion of fire between them. With Reese being the playboy of the group you knew that things would get heated. I liked Reese. He sometimes went a little too far but then you are surprised by his action that shows you he is a good guy.
So the character of Daphne was annoying and sad at the same time. She will be in the last one book. I don’t know how I feel about that. I am sure that she could change but will she or will she continue to be selfish. My guess is continuing to be self destructive but I will see when I read the six book. Personally I don’t want Cade to be with Daphne because he would give into Daphne way to easily.
Well in order to get to the six book I will have to get through the fourth and fifth book. I will be reading the fourth book next.
Apollo Greaves, Viscount Kilbourne, has been convicted of murdering three of his friends four years ago. With the help of his now brother-in-law he escaped but he was still not free to take his place in society. He will have to find the murderer and will be helped by some unexpected allies. Though he will be distracted when an actress, Lily, captured his attention.
Lily Stump was a famous actress and playwright even though no one knew that fact. Lily, her son and a servant named Maude were temporarily living at Harte’s Folly while it was being restored. There will be one problem that happens which is finding a mute man in the gardens who is not who she thinks.
Darling Beast is the seventh book to the Maiden Lane series by Elizabeth Hoyt. I had bought this book awhile ago but had not gotten the chance to read the book until now. Usually the books I buy take a while to read because I am always checking out books from my library. Well I picked it up now because I also have the eighth book from the series. Alright so Darling Beast was a book that I really liked.
I was excited to read Apollo’s story because of his sister Artemis. I had really liked her character in the sixth book and her interaction with her brother. I wanted to know what had happened three years ago as you knew that Apollo was not the murderer. It was interesting with Apollo as he could not talk, he only could write down his words. I felt for the first half of the book there was a gentler side to Apollo especially as he interacted with Lily’s child. There is a dangerous side to Apollo but only when he is protecting those he loves. Now Lily is a confident actress who knows what she has to do in life. She protects those that she loves. When she interacts with Apollo I really liked them together especially when it started out with him just being a gardener. That let Lily really get to know the man and not the title or the scandal that was part of his life.
The mystery of the murderer was prevalent in the book as that was a major part of the plot. The question of who was the real murderer had stumped me, which I liked. I waiting for the big reveal. There is another little surprise that is with Lily and her past. I knew the mystery but only a small part of it.
I found that Hoyt was writing in some recurring names and new names that I know will most likely be given their own story. I figure that Miss Royal will have her own story and possibly Duke Montgomery who is an intriguing character.
I am excited to read the eighth book next which is with Phoebe, the sister of Duke Wakefield.
Mrs. Miranda Talbot was a widow who was finally living life for herself, though that will get interrupted by the Worthington’s. She will find herself being courted by two men at the same time who were brothers and twins. Miranda will have to be the one to decide which twin she wants.
And Then Comes Marriage is the second book to the series Wicked Worthington by Celeste Bradley. Well its been awhile since I read the first book to this series but I remember it well, especially with the chaotic family, the Worthington’s. There was a part of me that wondered if I wanted to read this book because I wasn’t liking the idea that the twins were going to fight over the same woman or that they would fool. I didn’t like the game but I decided to stick with it because I was curious, and I was happy I did because overall I liked the book.
I knew that once I started the book I would read it no matter what and it wasn’t a problem because Celeste Bradley writes this story well. You will go up and down with these characters with either loving them or thinking that they are being idiots. There is one of the Worthington’s that drove me crazy which was Attie. She is a little weird but I will definitely be interested to read Attie’s story if Bradley writes it.
So the brothers, they were very different but very much the same. I liked their banter back and forth but knew that trouble would come between these brothers when they went after Miranda. The ending is sad for one of the brothers but I would bet that he will have his own story, that will get his own happy ending. Now Miranda I felt sorry for as her life was completely shaken up, in a way it was good for her but it wrecked havoc on her reputation. I wasn’t sure in the beginning if I would like Miranda I will admit, but it was very clear that she was not a villain. She did not want to have both brothers, she only wanted one and she will get the twin for her.
I have the third book out which is with Elektra, and I will be reading that one next.
Miss Sarah Clarke-Townsend was taking a walk with her very pregnant sister when several men started to follow them. Sarah heard that they were after her sister and there was no way she was going to let that happen. Sarah convinced the men that she was the Duchess that they were looking for. Now all she had to do was find a way out of their clutches which was looking to be very difficult.
Rob Carmichael was a disgrace to his family when he turned to become a Bow Street Runner. He was good at his job and that will come in handy when his good friends sister-in-law was taken. He will search for this woman and get her to safety but their adventure would not be over.
Sometimes A Rogue is the fifth book to the series Lost Lords by Mary Jo Putney. I liked this book, it was something cute to read and I went through it pretty fast.
The character Sarah was quiet and shy at times but in a time of crisis she became a different person. She was brave and determined to keep her sister safe no matter the cost. Rob was honorable even though he said he wasn’t. He was a smart man and got the job done, whatever his case may be. The two of them traveling through Ireland does spark something between them and a fire is lit that brings passion. Their kind of love were not their first as they had loved and lost before. I kind of liked that. They both shared that loss which made them realize how precious love could be.
