Sophia will enlist the help of her fellow lords to help find her mate, Colin. She had been betrayed by one of her own and needed help. She will entrust the help of Eleanor her trusted bodyguard and Lucifer who was recommended by Aden.
Eleanor and Lucifer will be thrust together to find Sophia’s mate, Colin. The task will be difficult as no one knows who was the vampire that betrayed Sophia. Eleanor and Lucifer will investigate and as they spend time together they will find that the love they shared years ago had not changed.
Lucifer is the eleventh book to the Vampires in America series by D.B. Reynolds. I really loved this book and it was gripping especially with Colin being taken by those he had trusted. I was hoping that Colin would not be killed which would break Sophia’s heart, it was breaking her heart with every photo she had received of Colin’s torture. I appreciated that Sophia’s part was limited and it was more focused on Eleanor and Lucifer who were searching for Colin.
Eleanor and Lucifer were interesting. Their relationship was lustful and quickly turned to love when Eleanor had still been human. Their relationship ended when Eleanor was turned. She had thought that Lucifer would no longer want her. I thought Eleanor could have tried and gone back but in the end it had not matter because they had found each other again. I liked them together, they were each strong in their abilities as vampires, Lucifer’s stronger of course but Eleanor was no slouch.
I think the epilogue was really well written especially the words that Raphael had said to the council, which ended the story.
Vincent Kuxim was the lieutenant of the Lord of Mexico. Everyone knew that he would be the next Lord of Mexico but Vincent was biding his time. Then he will have a bounty hunter come to his home and ask for his help. Vincent will help because it was a favor to Raphael. On their journey Vincent will quickly discover things that make him want to over throw his sire the Lord of Mexico.
Lana Arnold was hired to find a vampire and she needed the help of Vincent. Together they travel around Mexico to find the vampire but they will come to an obstacle when Vincent is taken. That will lead to them to some disturbing facts about the Lord of Mexico.
Vincent is the eighth book to the series Vampires in America by D.B. Reynolds. I really loved the book. Vincent and Lana actually reminded me of Cyn and Raphael. Although, Vincent was a little more free with the smiles towards Lana as he liked to tease her a lot. Vincent’s character was intriguing. He was carefree and loved women but he had a blood thirsty attitude when he needed to protect those who were being mistreated. Lana misunderstood him but she learns differently. Lana’s character was a bounty hunter which was cool. She was very good at her job. I also liked that she fought the attraction with Vincent. She of course givens in but it does take some time.
The mystery behind the European vampire is still a mystery but it is intriguing and I want to know more. Enrique, Lord of Mexico was basically an ass. He thought he was all powerful, which he was though he underestimated Vincent’s power. The fight scene was well done and I liked the little twist at the end. I thought the scenes with the mistreated vampires had me cheering for Vincent as he protected those who could not.
John Matthew has wanted one woman since he had first seen her and now she was in danger. John and the Brothers searched until they found Xhex and brought her back. The trouble will not be over for them because Xhex’s kidnapper is still out there and John will do anything to help her.
Lover Mine is the eighth book to the series Black Dagger Brotherhood by J.R. Ward. I really liked this book. I was pulled in right away. I have been waiting for John’s story since he was pretty much brought into the series. I wanted him to find happiness with all that he had gone through.
So John’s character had lived through a tragic past that effected him as an adult. He finds something with Xhex but it is over before it could really begin. I liked that John never truly gave up on her. He kept fighting. I also liked that he was able to open up to Xhex, he was able to tell her about his past. His past and her present was a shared experience that they had. Xhex will have been taken prisoner by Lash and will be sexually assaulted for weeks. She will find her way out but she is broken, though not all the way. She is still a fighter and keeps going. I liked how Ward writes Xhex and John’s relationship. They healed each other by sharing, by moving on.
The bad guy is clearly Lash who is a sadistic man. For those who read this series will know that Lash was now different and the enemy. I knew that when his transformation happened there would be trouble and he would be an enemy that would cause problems.
So there are two characters who are John’s friends, Blay and Qhuinn. Blay loves Qhuinn but Qhuinn wouldn’t be with Blay. I want them to be happy together but that really doesn’t look like an option. It is also ruining a friendship. If they don’t get together then I just want them to be able to move on. There are times in the book that it gets a little much with the agony of not being able to be together, though it did the trick because I want them together. I am sure that their story or at least one of their stories will be told in the series.
Edward “Easy” Cantrell job was to protect Jenna Dean but wasn’t there when she truly needed him. Now he will make sure that he is there for her after her traumatic experience with the drug dealers.
Jenna Dean had survived her torture but was not sure if she would survive after the ordeal. She found herself terrified every moment. She will bond with the one who had helped rescue her that night, Easy. She will find that she is not the only one that needs to be healed.
Hard to Hold on To is a novella which is part of the series Hard Ink by Laura Kaye. This novella is number 2.5 to the series, it was a novella that was worth the read and fit right into the series. It had been a while since I read the first two books but I will say that I fell right back into the series. The novella starts right off where the second book ended. Jenna is being brought back to Hark Ink Studio, she had been hurt and drugged.
I was intrigued to read this novella because I had gotten to know her character from the previous book. I wanted to know what had happened in that room as she sounded broken, luckily she had not gotten the torture that her sister had received four years ago. Nevertheless Jenna was harmed and was traumatized over the event. She makes a bond with Easy. I liked Easy, he was quiet but there was a dangerous side and damaged. They were both in need of healing.
The mystery of what had happened to these men was still up in the air. They are retrieving some information that is helping them decipher what had happened thanks to Sara from the previous book. What happened to these men to me was not the focal point of the book, it was Jenna and Easy. I didn’t mind that as I wanted to know more about Easy and Jenna. I’m sure that more information will come in the third book, which I will be reading next.
Sir Gideon Trevithick was on his way home when he finds a young woman nearly beaten to death struggling on the road. He will help her and get her safe. Even though with protecting her means he will have to marry her.
Lady Charis Weston was on the run from her step brothers who were cruel men that wanted her fortune. She will meet Gideon who will be her savior. She will still try to runaway to keep everyone safe.
Captive of Sin is a novel by Anna Campbell. Now after reading Tempt the Devil I was all set for my next Anna Campbell book. I started the book and I just couldn’t get into the story. I immediately stopped because it was actually very late when I started to read the book. I decided to pick it up in the morning and start over. Starting over the next morning helped greatly. Sometimes I am just too tired to read as I am looking at a computer screen all day.
Well once I started to reread the novel I started to enjoy the book. You were brought into a situation where this young woman who had been severally beaten by her stepbrothers and was on the run from her family. She was a strong character in an impossible situation. I liked that she still fought even when she was severally beaten, she didn’t give up. Gideon was the man that had found her and immediately helped. Gideon was an interesting character who had a hard past. I wanted him to be healed by Charis but he will not be too accepting.
I am on the look out for my next Anna Campbell book.
Zsadist has lived through his own hell and became a ruined man bent on keeping everyone who would care about him at arms length. He could not abide being touched that is until Bella came into the picture. He wanted her like he wanted no one else but he could not have her because he was not what she deserved.
Bella survived the torture she endured by the lesser and her savior was Zsadist. She had wanted the warrior when she first saw him and as he became her savior she wanted to save him. She will succeed at times but there was always something stopping them, namely Zsadist.
Lover Awakened is the third book from the series Black Dagger Brotherhood by J.R. Ward. The second book left you with a to be continued story with Bella as she was captured by one of the lessers. I knew that she would be saved by Zsadist as they are the main two in this book who were being written about. J.R. Ward wrote this story well and it was another one I really loved reading.
There were some touchy subjects that were talked about which Zsadist had to endure when he was forced to become a sex slave. It was terrifying for what he had to go through and so sad with the aftermath. He was a ruined man/vampire but he will be saved so he might have not have been as ruined as he thought. He will be saved by Bella who wanted him for the man that he was. She saw beyond the scars. I liked them together but it was not an easy road for them to be on as he kept pushing her away and he is very insistent on pushing her away.
There are plenty of things happening in this book, some good and some very bad. I hated what happened to one of the brothers as he will lose what he will never be able to bring back. That tragedy makes me want to read his story which will be later on in the series. There is the kid who was introduced in the second book and you find out that he is part of the brotherhood and of Darius’s line which is interesting. I really want to know more about John but once again that will be later on in the series.
With the third book finished I am taking a break from the Black Dagger Brotherhood series but I will be back for more.
Celia Vallerand was on a ship with her husband who will be killed by the pirates. She will be abducted by these pirates and will fight for her freedon, but there will be no stopping these pirates. She will be rescued by a man called Griffin who was a Captain and a pirate. She will be shocked when he tells her that he will take her to the Vallerand family, but she will be more shocked to find out the identity of her rescuer.
Only With Your Love is the second book to the series Vallerands by Lisa Kleypas. I thought this was a fantastic book to follow up the first book, When Strangers Marry.
I was happy to read that this story was about the twins or at least one of them. Philippe will be married to Celia but will be killed by the pirates. Celia’s rescuer will be Justin although he is unrecognizable with his long hair and beard. There were times that I did not like Justin throughout the book. He was sometimes too cruel to Celia with his teasing and reminding her that she succumbed to his charm. He was trying to push her away but then he wanted her at his side. His character from the previous book had not changed that much but towards the end I was happy to read that he truly accepted his family, that helped him change at least a little. Celia was a woman in a horrible situation. Her mind fought the attraction but her body wanted the pirate, Justin. I thought she was strong in the sense of her desire to do right. She did not need to nurse Justin back to health but she did because it was right. Now although their relationship was not anything romantic it did end up that way.
The bad pirates are pretty despicable in the book and there will be a betrayal which will have Justin fuming towards the end and very well could have killed more than one person.
In the book you will find out that Philippe was not the saint that everyone thought and there will be a twist towards the ending which I was wondering if Kleypas was going to go that route. I was wanting her to but at the same time didn’t because it would disrupt the happy ending that I wanted. Well even with the twist there was a happy ending for everyone which I loved.
Nate “Ghost” Weller was not expecting his best friends sister to show up asking for help, but Nate would not turn her away especially with all that she had been through. He will find that there is more going on and it linked to a zip drive that Grigg sent to his sister, Ali.
Ali Morgan needed help as she knows that she is being followed and now almost mugged. She will go to Nate who she had loved since seventeen years old. Ali will demand to be part of the investigation as it was dealing with understanding what had happened to her brother, Grigg.
Hell On Wheels is the first book to Julie Ann Walker’s series Black Knight Inc. This is a scorching book and I figure will be a scorching series. I have the first five books in the series. First off loved this book. I could not put it down. It had danger, a lot of sex appeal, raw emotions especially guilt at least on Ghosts side, and a compelling plot that I needed to read. I will say that I am reminded of Laura Kaye and her Hard Ink series which isn’t a bad thing. The two series are different though with their style of writing and what is happening in them but similar with these tough men. I will say that for me there is more danger in Walker’s story and I loved that because it makes the plot compelling to read.
So Nate or Ghost as he is called is a man of few words and when he says them he is not loud or really obnoxious. He has guilt that is consuming him because of what he did. He also has guilt plaguing him as he feels things towards Ali and he knows that he shouldn’t. Ali needs help from the man she could trust with her life. She is a brave person with all she had to deal with but it is almost comical as her flaw is a weak stomach and that will result in a mess at the most inopportune moments. What I liked about Ali was she was scared but could handle herself thanks to her brothers training which comes in handy.
The scene with the torture I was expecting it to be bad and had a feeling with what happened in that room especially to Grigg. It was horrifying and I thought Walker did a good job writing those pages and how Ghost was forever changed because of that.
Becky “Rebel” and Frank’s “Boss” story is next to read and I can’t wait to find out what will happen.
Basha Argeneau or known as Divine has been running from her family for a long time. She is fearful that she will be caught and killed along with her son. Divine will be caught by a family spy and find truths that had been hidden from her.
Marcus Notte was working for Lucien and his job was to locate Basha. He will find her but it will shock him that she will be something more to him.
Vampire Most Wanted is the twentieth book from the Argeneau Family series by Lynsay Sands. I have read all of the books to this series and am always wanting to read the next installation. I liked the book for what it was but I have to say that it took me longer to get through than most of her books. I think for one there was little to no humor that Sands usually would write especially in the beginning of the series. This book was more dire in the situation and more violent which I don’t mind but I felt that I had to force myself to read. I guess for me the beginning was slow and I wanted more to happen a little faster. Once I get over half of the book I do find myself picking up the pace because now it seems the story is moving along. It is still without much humor but the truth is becoming clear and Basha’s past is being revealed which I thought was interesting and horrible at the same time.
Sands write Basha’s past well and you feel for the character with all that she goes through. When you find out all that had happened to Basha you feel horrible for her as no person should be tormented that much. She only grows stronger as she finds the truth. I am happy that there was a light at the end of the tunnel for Basha and Marcus, and for Basha and her family.
What I thought was interesting was the mention of nanos which is usually present was not so much. Sands focuses more on the no fangers which were the bad guys and one that will be a problem as he is not caught at the end. You know that he will be trouble as he has been in the past but now his identity is known and you know he will be visiting again in the book as he will more than likely become a bigger threat. I will just have to wait for the next book to find out.
Reynaud St. Aubyn has been tortured and captured seven years ago. He is free and determined to get back his life that was taken from him. Reynaud will be sidetracked when he meets Beatrice who he will make his and his alone.
Beatrice Corning lived with her Uncle who was had been given a title but now it looks to be taken away as the man who was thought to be dead was alive. Beatrice has gazed at Reynaud’s portrait when he was a young man but seeing him in person she will see that much has changed.
To Desire a Devil is the fourth and final book from the Legends of the Four Soldiers series by Elizabeth Hoyt. This was once again a very enjoyable book to the engaging series. What I liked about this book was that Hoyt throws in a twist with Reynaud showing up. He was not dead as everyone thought he was for seven years.
So the character of Reynaud was a little too demanding when it came to Beatrice but Hoyt does a good job at writing him to be a very gruff, broken man. Hoyt goes into what he went through over those years as he tells Beatrice of his past which was brutal. Beatrice becomes a little wild when it came to Reynaud but she was also very brave and determined in her convictions. Both of the characters were committed to their beliefs and desires.
The nice thing about this being the last book I knew there would be a conclusion for this mystery of who betrayed the soldiers. I wasn’t expecting the person who betrayed them but it was fitting and Hoyt explains the motives well leaving us to have a perfect ending for all of the soldiers.
