Cyn and Raphael have faced many dangers together but now there will be one coming to them, a spy. This spy will have one goal in mind which is to take Raphael’s sister to his master.
Unforgiven is a novella, number 7.5 in the series Vampires in America by D. B. Reynolds. I have taken such a hiatus from this series. I wanted the series to grow so I had several to read in a row. So back to the story which I loved. This was a great story to get back into the series because it featured my favorite couple, Cyn and Raphael.
This novella is just a taste of the troubles that are yet to come in the eighth book, which I can’t wait to read. This novella held a lot of substance in a short story. Cyn and Raphael were amazing as usual. I loved how easily the Raphael’s men read the spy and how confident the spy thought himself to be. It was humorous. Then there was Alexandra. She was a character that I never really liked especially after her betrayal in the previous books. She certainly was portrayed well with the spoiled princess routine, though you don’t have to worry about her for long.
The mystery behind the new master who is coming after Raphael is intriguing and I can’t wait to know more.
Sir Brook Derring was considered a hero but all Brook did was his job. Brook will have to find another person but this time he will not be happy with the person he has to find. Lady Lillian-Anne Lennox was once a woman he had loved but she had made fun of him. Brook would do his job and leave but he will find that he will have to play bodyguard until the villain was captured.
Lady Lillian-Anne “Lila” Lennox had been taken by a villain and on the same night she had witnessed a murder. Lila will be shocked and distraught, but the changes in her life will not be over. Once she is rescued she will find herself sticking close to her rescuer until her kidnapper is captured.
I Kissed a Rogue is the third book to the series Covent Garden Cubs by Shana Galen. I really liked this book.
Brook’s character was not boring by any means but he was very serious. He was determined in his work and wanted to do everything right. I hated that he was heartbroken seven years ago as that harden his heart. Though I liked that he was opening up again especially when he finally understands that Lila was not the same as she had been. Lila’s character had been that spoiled brat, a character trait that I really of course dislike in heroines. Luckily she grows up due to a tragedy and she is not selfish or mean spirited like she used to be. Of course for Brook to forgive her will not be overnight but I liked how Lila never gave up.
As far as the villain in the book was was obviously Beezle but Galen will give a twist in the end that I actually did not see coming. Of course thinking back to the events that lead up to the end I should have suspected the twist, but I was too engrossed in the novel to analyze every scene.
Vanity Baker wanted Stack and with each day of seeing him around she started to fall for him. She made a plan to offer him a one night stand in hopes that he will want them be together longer. Her plan will work but there will be trouble that Vanity will find herself in the middle of with Stack.
Stack “The Wolf” Hannigan was a man who enjoyed woman and only for a short period. Though with Vanity he started thinking a longer period of time, but before they could really get started his dysfunctional family comes into the picture, and trouble follows.
Tough Love is the third book from the Ultimate series by Lori Foster. I loved this book. I seem to be a broken record with this series, but then Lori Foster is one of my favorite authors.
Vanity’s character was a carefree woman, but that was how she made herself appear. She was timid with relationships and she was vulnerable. I was horrified with what happened to Vanity’s family, it was so sad. I was happy that she was getting together with Stack because she should have someone to love, and Stack was that guy. I think the way she went about it to get his attention wasn’t the most honest but it really didn’t hurt anyone. Stack’s character was a good guy. He took care of his family and he hated liars, this fact will come back to be a problem between Stack and Vanity which was predictable. Though the outcome in the end was worth the problems.
I really liked Stack’s dysfunctional family. At first I thought that they were bad but they were the complete opposite. The sister needed toughing up but she was a good person, and she does get better at the end. The mother just wanted to make sure her children were happy. The trouble that comes after Stack and Vanity is related to Stack’s family. Things will quickly escalate for Vanity and Stack.
I am done with the series, that is until February. That will be when Armie’s story will be out. I can’t wait to read his story. His character has been outrageous and mysterious. There was something that happened in his past and I think I have an idea, then there is Rissy who will be the woman that will have Armie falling for. Well he already is, he’s just too afraid to take that chance.
Lisa Sommerville needed a break from her life. She was worn out from all the work she does and decided to come back home for the summer. Lisa will be shocked to find that there is a new person in her town and it just happened to be the man she had a one night stand with.
Gray Neely needed a change in location and took a chance on Buckhorn. He loved the small town and was looking forward to moving on. Then Gray will see the woman that has haunted his dreams after a steamy one night stand. Gray knows that he can’t let this opportunity slip and will make sure Lisa knows he wants more than one night together.
A Buckhorn Summer is the eighth book to the Buckhorn Brothers series by Lori Foster. I am really enjoying these stories. I am so happy that Lori Foster decided to write about the kids of these alpha males.
Lisa is a workaholic but has finally burned out. She needed a break and the best place for her was home. I liked Lisa. She was a strong woman and she had to be with her father and all of her uncle’s and cousins who were the macho males. Now Gray’s character was another macho male but he was a little bit broken due to his injury he had gotten on the job. I liked that Gray was one that didn’t tiptoe around a subject, he just asked or said what he needed to, well he did for the most part. The part about his injury was a very sore subject. You do find out about what happened which was tragic.
The sexual chemistry is again leaping off the pages just like in the other two novellas. Lisa and Gray are very steamy when they get together and there is no stopping them. It is humorous with all of Lisa’s family eyeing Gray but it made sense as they didn’t want him to break Lisa’s heart. Well aside from the sex there is a little danger that happens in the book. I was wondering if the threat would be bigger but in the end it was not what I was thinking.
Now having finished these novellas my only thought is when will Amber’s story be coming out and Adam’s. I want more and hopefully Lori Foster will be continuing the series.
