Seduction Becomes Her

Seduction Becomes HerDaphne Beaumont was struggling to keep her family together when a sizable inheritance comes to her brother. Their future seemed to be looking up. Daphne will have a problem when she gets stuck in a cave and a man will come to her rescue and will have to marry as they were stuck together for two nights. At first she is outraged but will find that Charles Weston was an intriguing man.

Charles Weston had come to Cornwall to track down a murderer. He will be sidetracked when he will find himself being married after two nights stuck in a cave with her. He is not heartbroken about the decision and will be intrigued by his new wife and will make it his mission to show her that they could make it work.

Seduction Becomes Her is the second book to the series Becomes Her by Shirlee Busbee. I had read the first book to the series a while back and thoroughly enjoyed the story. The second book was also very entertaining. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series which I have already checked out of my library.

Daphne was a strong woman with a lot of responsibility on her shoulders. She will get help from Charles who will end up marrying her but I like that she keeps him at a distance for a little. Of course you are happy for their chemistry which is explosive when they take that second step. From the first book Charles seemed like an enemy but turned out like to be a good man. You continue to see him as a good man in the second book. He is charming and very good in his seductive ways but an all around good man. Though he was a man who was tormented with what he had done and what he needed to do about his brother Raoul who was still out there.

Busbee is continuing the theme of supernatural. Like the first book Nell had vivid nightmares of people being murdered over the years since her accident. Daphne will not have dreams but will see ghost who will be helpful in surviving a dangerous threat that will be after her. I liked how the ghost interacted throughout the book and that Busbee gave the setting of the old house with secret passages which helped create the scene.

The villain is obviously Raoul who had survived and continued to murder. He is a vile men who will keep going if he was not stopped. There will not be a happy ending for Raoul as it should be with villains.

I am continuing the series with the third book.

Marrying the Marquis Revisited

Blaze Flambeau never wanted to marry as she knows the suffering her mother went through. But Blaze will find herself in the attention of three suitors. She will find herself responding though only to one, Ross MacArthur. He will challenge Blaze and help her with her horse but still she will deny marriage even as she is seduced in the bedroom.

Ross MacArthur found the idea of the match interesting but once he meets the lady he know she must be his. Ross will charm Blaze with the use of his knowledge on horses and racing, but all will not be well as there is a problem revolving around the horse track and his family. Ross must protect Blaze before she becomes the next victim.

Marrying the Marquis is the last book of the series Karanov at least that is until she writes another for the series. I remembered most of this book from reading it before but the villain I couldn’t remember. Of course once Patricia Grasso gives you the clues they are pretty easy to figure out the villain but nevertheless it was still fun to read.

Blaze was delightful to read with her unique ability to hear animals thoughts. She is a strong sister but her insecurity is with her looks. Red hair and freckles make her feel insecure and that no man would want her. I really liked that Grasso brought in Ross who is a highlander so red hair and freckles to him resembled beautiful as any other woman. As a highlander Ross was stubborn just as Blaze but they matched well and it was fun to read how they would butt heads.

The only downside of the story was the animals that suffered. I know this is a book but even on paper or movies I hate when animals are harmed. So reading that part was not so great for me.

On a side note I was worried about Raven and Alex’s relationship but the end gives you hope that things will be back on track. I don’t know when the next book of this series will continue. I hope soon as I want to find out what will happen with the rest of the sisters.

There is a new book out that was published this year which is Pagan Bride. This goes back to the highlanders. Loving Patricia Grasso’s book I know I will hunt down this one eventually and then of course wait for the next Karanov book to come out.

I highly recommend any series of Patricia Grasso to those who love romances.

Intertwined by Gena Showalter

Going through some of her series I decided to try another one. I picked up the seires Intertwined which is also the name of the book. There are only two books in the series so far.

With no other family and a life spent in and out of institutions, Aden and the souls have become friends. But not they’re causing him all kinds of trouble. Like, he’ll blink and suddenly he’s a younger Aden, reliving the pas. One wrong move, and he’ll change teh future. Or he’ll walk past a total stranger and know how and when she’s going to die.

He’s so over it. All he wants is peace. And then he meets a girl who quiets the voices. Well, as long as he’s near her. Why? Mary Ann Gray is his total opposite. He’s a loner; she has friends. He doesn’t care what anyone think’s; she tries to make everyone happy. And while he attracts the paranormal, she repels it. For her sake, he should stay away. But it’s too late…

Honestly when I first started to the book I kept shaking my head.  This was not making any sense.  It seemed the book was going all over the place but I kept on reading hoping it would make sense.

I was glad I kept reading.  Still it is strange but it was intriguing and I needed to know what was going to happen.  The concept behind the book is strange but it is an entertaining young adult book.

Showalter seemed though to bring in all supernatural characters into play with the book.  In that sense it seemed a little busy within the book.

Now once everything is settled the book makes sense.  I like that Aden has the four souls in his head and is trying to find a way to release them.  The ending is very beneficial for one of the souls and a main character.

I liked the four main characters each were very different but all seemed to belong with each other.

Intertwined has a touching ending and leaves you wondering what will happen in the next book.

Incubus Dreams by Laurell Hamilton

With every book in the Anita Blake series the plot is more aimed to Anita and what is happening in the supernatural world.  Slowly cop work is being forgotten about or it is being diluted into very little.

It is a sad thing that the police work is not a forerunner for the plot.  I find the crime investigation interesting to read.

The plot for Incubus Dreams is Anita is the best man at Larry’s wedding but trouble starts when a killer starts making bodies appear.  Anita is asked to help find the killer that is going after strip clubs which inhabit wereanimals.  But in life Anita is finding more problems with the men in her life and trying to maintain power.

So as I said there is police work but it is not forth coming with many scenes.  Hamilton is concentrating on Anita and her men.

One new thing is Anita is finally with Nathanial in every way.  By doing this Anita brings another man in her bed but also becomes stronger with the bond that Nathanial and Damien share with Anita.

Power is overflowing Anita as well.  Hamilton is getting to the point that Anita is uncontrolable if she delays feeding the ardeur which again can be fed through sex and blood.

The one thing I liked that really dealt with the sexual theme was her and Nathanial because that was a long time coming but the continual battle of Jean Claude, Richard and herself.  They create very steamy scenes together.  But I do not mind them.  I think because they were the very first attraction for Anita.

As far as the book goes it was interesting to read.  Hamilton knows how to write but I am getting a little tired of stories which seem to be all alike.  Incubus Dreams was long and it seemed in parts to keep going but surprisingly it was not really boring.  I think though there is too much filler that are in the pages.

All I Want For Christmas Is A Vampire by Kerrelyn Sparks

Kerrelyn Sparks brings her fifth book with Ian making his way into the vampire world but with a new look about him.

The Plot of All I Want For Christmas Is A Vampire:

“This Christmas isn’t so merry for Toni.  Her best friend’s been locked up in a mental hospital ever since she told the police she was attacked by vampires, and the only way for Toni to get her out is to prove that bloodsuckers really do exist.  So she’s taken a job as a bodyguard for the Undead, but she gets more than she bargained for, especially when she meets Ian MacPhie, a Scottish rascal looking for Ms. Right.

Although Ian’s nearly five centuries old, he looks and acts like a twenty-seven-year-old hunk.  How can a dead man be so damn sexy? Could Mr. Wrong be Mr. Right?  One forbidden kiss could lead to an eternity of passion-and all it takes is one moment under the mistletoe…”

I am actually very glad to have found this author.  For her writing about the supernataural of vampires I love her humor among the Undead.  Ian is a fantastic character who has now changed but he can’t change his old fashioned ways which I love.  Then there is Toni who is helping the vampires but really helping herself.  But I love her strength.  And they are perfect together.

In the book there are going to be surprises.  More were-animals, a panther and a bear.  Then there is Constantine who is even more different from just hoovering.  He is possibly a healer?  I am still confused.  And then Vampire blood just might be a cure for humans who are in trouble and that will help for Toni.  Then there is a little humor with Ian as he goes on the search for his true love but he does it through 21 century technology, which is funny to read about.

Kerrelyn Sparks is a hit with All I Want For Christmas Is A Vampire.  There is a lot of wit, adventure and humor thrown into the mix and is a pleasure to read.

The Undead Next Door by Kerrelyn Sparks

The fourth book of the series Love at Stake has Sparks bringing out Jean-Luc for a final fashion store before he goes into retirement but that will stop when he sees a true woman he could fall for.

The Plot of The Undead Next Door:

“Heather Westfield has always lived a quiet life, but that all changes when she helps a very handsome, very mysterious stranger. There’s something not quite right about Jean-Luc, but still, she’s never been with a man so charming, so attractive…so wonderful. Now if only a murderous villain wasn’t after them, they might get their happily-ever-after.”

The Undead Next Door was brilliant. I was laughing, smiling, sighing over the whole book. The characters of Jean-Luc and Heather were fantastic and had great depth to their characters.

Jean-Luc doesn’t want to harm anyone and doesn’t want to fall in love but he can’t help it when Heather comes into his life with her cheerful daughter and wise-ass babysitter. Heather is a teacher who is unsure of herself in a lot of things. She can’t seem to be strong for herself all the time. But I do love that she is already aware that Jean-Luc is not everything he seems to be. I like that she thought he was an immortal which is almost right.

The bad guys are not really showing right now, but there is an enemy from Jean-Luc’s past who wants nothing more but to put Jean-Luc into the ground permantly.

As far as the other characters I still love how they are all interacting little by little. Ian is taking the potion to age himself so he can find love. Then Shanna and Roman are going to have another baby who will probably be like Constantine. Not quite human but the best part is she is going to turn to a vampire when the children are older. I didn’t know how they were going to do this with keeping them together, so maybe the same thing will be with Jean-Luc and Heather at a later point.

Kerrelyn Sparks is delivering hit after hit with the series Love at Stake and I can’t wait for the next one.

Potter vs. Twilight

In a battle between Harry Potter and Edward Cullen who would win? Vampire verse Magic. It can be a tough question but my thought is with all the spells Potter would blast Cullen back into nothing.

As strange of a question it is there is a value to this question. So many have read these books and many have become obessed with these types of stories (me being one of them). They are what is popular. Right now the craze in today’s media is Vampires. That is the keyword which is everywhere; movies, tv, books and toys. But magic lays at the base of this media craze as well in the world of supernatural. One case is with the new series of Percy Jackson which just came out with a movie, Percy Jackson & The Olympian: The Lightning Theif. The series is interesting with gods and half bloods, the children of the gods. The books are like Harry Potter in a way with a prophecy and the three friends but it is something fun to read. Again the media is staying in the world of supernatural.

The thought of this question came from when I was watching tv and saw two commericals. One for the new amusement park of Harry Potter (side note looks like it could be very entertaining for those avid fans of Harry Potter) and one for Twilight or really the New Moon release of the movie to DVD. These two commericals got me thinking if I were to choose between these two who would it really be? Didn’t take a second for me to decide, it would no doubt be Harry Potter hands down. Now why? Why is Harry Potter for me so amazing…?

Well, I have long since loved the world of magic way before vampires came into my world. The Supernatural has been a very cool fantasy to live in through reading and viewing shows. For years for Halloween the costume of choice for me has always been witches. Their magical abilities for me has always been appealing. I guess the idea of living in a world where you could peform magic would be thrilling, exciting and amazing. Then there is too be a Vampire, live forever and drink blood…I am not sure that is something which would be so thrilling.

Now I picked up the first Potter book in my junior year of high school. I wasn’t interested in the book when it came out during sixth grade but years later I decided to give them a try, and since then it has not stopped. I even was one of many waiting at the bookstore for the final book.  I am an advid reader of the Harry Potter series and have continued to read these books over and over along with watching the movies. This series, Harry Potter, has and will be one of my favorite for most likely the rest of my life.

Now Twilight. A couple of years ago I got introduced to Twilight and thought it was something interesting to read, then I found out it was a nationwide interest with teenage girls. So I read all of the books and I ended up liking them, but now it seems too much. Actually from the sound of my little speech it makes it sound like Twilight is just not as superior to Harry Potter and that is not quite true but it is. Now don’t get me wrong I like the Twilight sage and have read the books and seen the first two movies, will see the next two mostly out of curisoity. I like the books and the movies are okay. To be honest the acting of some of the characters are not so great. It got better in the second movie but still there needs to be a lot of work. I hope the third movie is better than the first two.

But now if we compare the two, Harry Potter and Twilight, then Harry Potter would win out. Through the novels I love how there is the amount of details and in the movies it is there but a little is cut out. You can’t have everything but through the movies there is enough to satisfy the reader. Harry Potter shows more amazing work in their movies and by far the acting skills is unbelievable. I loved to see how they started out to how they are now. Still just as good and getting better, never bad acting. Twilight made me cringe a little.  Still love the story line and the actors but they need to shape it up. Of course that could be due to directing or the situation but still it seems at times a little too forced or fake.

So overall for me Harry Potter wins out with books and movies. Magic themed books and movies has more variety and interest than vampires who are still playing to a certain mold with a few little twists. Of course this is all my opinion. Many friends of mine love the Twilight and think it far superior because vampires are a lot more interesting to them than magic.

Are you a Potter fan or Twilight? Perhaps both?

I think for me the world of magic is amazing.

So now that I have talked and talked about the world of magic and vampires it kind of makes me want to read Harry Potter once again. I looked to my bookcase and saw all seven of the books aligned. I decided it was time to take out the first book again and be aborsbed into the world of magic.
