The Accidental Demon Slayer

The Accidental Demon SlayerLizzie Brown thought her day couldn’t get any worse when her grandmother showed up on a Harley but it did with a demon showing up in her house. With help she is able to get away but that is just the beginning.

The Accidental Demon Slayer by Angie Fox is the first book to the series Demon Slayer was an accidental find at the library. I saw the red cover and picked it up. It sounded fun and strange so I read it. After reading it my assessment was the same, it was fun and strange more on the strange. I wasn’t completely taken with the story with the strange characters, like the witches, the griffin Dimitri who wasn’t all that he said and then there was Lizzie who was a little off beat but understandable as this was all knew. The quirky behavior at times was a little overwhelming that was set in a strange magical situation. The talking dog was a funny addition to the situation. Over all the book was not bad, fast pace and had its entertaining moments.

Devilishly Hot

You know picking up Kathy Love’s book there is going to be humor involved one way or another. I was excited to find she had a new series started, granted so far its only two books but a new one nevertheless.

Annie Lou Riddle found her dream job three years ago but its been hell literally. Working as the personal assistant to her boss costed her soul as the magazine was run by demons. Annie had seven more years to work off her contract or otherwise he soul was fore-fitted. If that is not bad enough a detective comes to the office investigating the disappearances of her bosses personal assistants all twenty one of them.

Detective Nick Rossi wasn’t thrilled with encountering the head woman Fionla but having the chance to meet the mystery woman Annie again thrilled him. It made matters worse that they could not be together but he wanted to solve the case and protect Annie the best he could which meant entertaining a demon.

Devilishly Hot was the first book of the series Hot. Love will entertain you once again with her witty and funny characters/plot. Once I started I was immediately taken back to the movie The Devil Wears Prada of course in this case the head boss really is collaborating with the Devil.

Annie was very much the naive character from a small town but changed in those three years. I liked that her character is growing in the book and the romance between Annie and Nick is sweet. You wanted them to have a happy ending right away. It was a little strange with Satan playing a role in the book but it was entertaining that Love adds him on the side.

You will be laughing at the antics and characters Love creates from the first page to the last. I liked that she is continuing the series with the same magazine adding in the demon hunters which will make their appearance in the book.

Devilishly Hot will have a final ending for the characters of Annie and Nick but the hunt is far from over.

Sex, Lies, and Vampires by Katie MacAlister

With each book to the series I seem to be liking the series more and more. The third book to the series Dark One is Sex, Lies, and Vampires. The story continues the stories of the Dark Ones.

Nell Harris was hired to do a job but when she got there the job turned quickly to a task she couldn’t do anymore. Nell is a former charmer or at least she thinks. She is being hired to find a little boy whose father is looking for him. Not all is what it seems. Nell is going to get involved with the boy’s Uncle, Adrian who is the Betrayer but soon Nell will find out that is not all he is to her.

Each story gets better and better. I like MacAlister’s new characters she brings in with Nell and Adrian. The series started out with mere humans but with every book she brings more supernatural characters who are staring for the role of Beloveds of the Dark Ones.

Bringing in the supernatural characters are fun to read and intriguing on how they are sent to save their Beloveds.

In this third book MacAlister brings in some surprises especially for Nell when she finds out about Adrian. It was a good twist that you didn’t see coming.

Overall Sex, Lies, and Vampires is a great third book to the series Dark Ones.

Intertwined by Gena Showalter

Going through some of her series I decided to try another one. I picked up the seires Intertwined which is also the name of the book. There are only two books in the series so far.

With no other family and a life spent in and out of institutions, Aden and the souls have become friends. But not they’re causing him all kinds of trouble. Like, he’ll blink and suddenly he’s a younger Aden, reliving the pas. One wrong move, and he’ll change teh future. Or he’ll walk past a total stranger and know how and when she’s going to die.

He’s so over it. All he wants is peace. And then he meets a girl who quiets the voices. Well, as long as he’s near her. Why? Mary Ann Gray is his total opposite. He’s a loner; she has friends. He doesn’t care what anyone think’s; she tries to make everyone happy. And while he attracts the paranormal, she repels it. For her sake, he should stay away. But it’s too late…

Honestly when I first started to the book I kept shaking my head.  This was not making any sense.  It seemed the book was going all over the place but I kept on reading hoping it would make sense.

I was glad I kept reading.  Still it is strange but it was intriguing and I needed to know what was going to happen.  The concept behind the book is strange but it is an entertaining young adult book.

Showalter seemed though to bring in all supernatural characters into play with the book.  In that sense it seemed a little busy within the book.

Now once everything is settled the book makes sense.  I like that Aden has the four souls in his head and is trying to find a way to release them.  The ending is very beneficial for one of the souls and a main character.

I liked the four main characters each were very different but all seemed to belong with each other.

Intertwined has a touching ending and leaves you wondering what will happen in the next book.
