Max has wanted Lucy for years and he will finally make a move at her brothers wedding. Max knows that he will be able to seduce Lucy and he will do what he can to hold on to her, to show her that they belonged together.
Lucy has wanted Max for years but she closed her heart for him when he had married another. She will find herself then taking a chance when Max pushes for more.
Dare to Seduce is the third book to the series NY Dare to Love by Carly Phillips. I liked the book.
Lucy’s character was like her brothers in regards to being very guarded and damaged from their past. I felt that Lucy was even more so because of her age. Lucy drew away from people to protect herself from further hurt. I liked that she gave a chance to finding something with Max even though she wasn’t completely committed. Max’s character was another dominant man. I thought with how Max was acting this book would be going towards the darker side of BSMD but it didn’t. Well Max was probably rougher than all the men though I was okay with that as it was not in the whole book. I liked that Phillips focused on Max and Lucy who yes had that chemistry but they were also damaged due to their past.
Carly Phillips next book to the Dare to Love series is out but before I read that book I am moving on to a couple other authors, then coming back to the book.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Cade Morgan had been a prosecutor before and a rising football star before that, but right now he was working with the FBI to bring down a senator. Cade will enlist the help of Brooke Parker and with her help they will be successful. He will keep the work relationship going with Brooke but bring it to a personal causal level. Things will get complicated when he starts to have real feelings for Brooke and when he meets his half brother he never knew.
Brooke Parker was a good businesswoman and knew when it would be good to play ball especially with the Assistant U.S. Attorney and two FBI agent staring back at her. Brooke would do them the favor which would bring her closer with interacting with Cade Morgan. She finds herself wanting more and hoping that this one would work instead of failing like her other relationships.
Love Irresistibly is the fourth book from the series FBI/US Attorney by Julie James. After reading It Happened One Wedding not too long ago I wanted more from Julie James and now I picked up this one and Just the Sexiest Man Alive. I liked this book a lot.
Cade’s character was like a playboy at times and had some humor laced through the book. There was a serious side to the story. One being the investigation and the second with Cade’s past. How his father abandoned him and how his half brother showed up. There is a secret that came out of the end and you wanted to cry for Cade but with how James leaves the story there is hope and a chance for peace between certain characters. I liked Brooke as well. She was a savvy business woman and knew what she wanted and knew what was wrong with her in regards to relationships. When Cade and Brooke finally get together it sizzles but it is also comforting for each other. They are both in the same fields so they know the work schedule but they make it work and into something more. Of course things will get intense and things will get complicated making them weary of each other but James will not disappoint us and give a happy ending.
I will be reading Just the Sexiest Man Alive next.
Adelaide Davis was back in Whiskey Creek to help out her grandmother. She would never have volunteered to come back after that night when she was sixteen but to help her grandmother she would do anything. Now that she is back she is quickly set in danger once again and this time she will have a person to rescue her, Noah Rackham.
Noah Rackham has lived through tragedy when his twin brother was killed and his grief was still there. He will soon find someone to distract him when he saves Adelaide from inside the cave. Since that encounter Noah will want to stick close to this woman as he will find that she is someone he wants to take a chance with.
Home to Whiskey Creek is the fourth book to the Whiskey Creek series by Brenda Novak. This was an emotional story. I was sitting there reading hoping for some thing good to happen to Adelaide after all that had happened to her all those years ago. I wanted justice and for those four men to take the punishment. You are not disappointed with what happened as the system worked.
Adelaide was courageous with coming back to the town that had hurt her long ago. I wanted her to keep strong and be brave, and take a chance especially with Noah who was the man she wanted. Now Noah was a player but he was wanting more and I loved that he hated that he was considered a player. He goes after Adelaide with a determination but what is really impressive was when the situation got really tough he stuck around. He also sided with her when most would have abandoned her.
The mystery of who was behind the attack in the beginning was unclear and I wasn’t sure which one did it. I had thought of someone but that was ruled out towards the end. I wasn’t surprised with the person as he was the one who started this whole thing all those years ago. I wondered why he had to even start up again because if he didn’t he would’ve gotten away with it all. I am glad that Novak brought justice to the situation.
There was the issue with Baxter in the story. I am happy that everything is finally out there but feel for him as he just lost his chance with the man he loved, even though there was no chance they would be together.
After this book I have the fifth book with Sophia and Ted. I have been wondering about these two since the beginning and am excited to read their story next.
Tilly Milek was in high hopes of a successful restaurant but it all came crashing down to one disastrous night when a food critic was at the restaurant and gave a horrible review. Tilly had to save her restaurant but she will be distracted by a stranger who started to barge into her life. Tilly started to have feelings for him but she froze when she found out he was the food critic.
Dan Meier was a freelance writer and was doing his friend a favor with writing a column on restaurant reviews. He took his mother to a polish restaurant and the night was disastrous and he gave the review under stress. He knew he didn’t make a mistake but when he meets the owner/chef he finds that he is attracted to her. He knew that if she found out things would be over before they even started, but he knew that things would come out sooner than later.
Reservations for Two by Jennifer Lohmann was one that was a fun short novel to read. The plot is set in Chicago and around the time of the Taste of Chicago. I liked that simple fact as I am an Illinois residence.
Now to the characters I thought Lohmann did a nice job at making them realistic. I had thought at first Dan’s over analysis of his guilt playing over and over was a little over done but its realistic. Tilly was one person who I loved in the book. She was determined and optimistic but when it all finally got to her she felt defeated and then hopeful again. She was a ball of emotions but once again realistic.
The villain here was the sabotage that was happening within the restaurant. I didn’t have a clue who was the person or why they were doing this. Lohmann will give the identity of the person almost at the very end and the explanation.
Reservation for Two was a fun book to read and I am looking forward to reading about Tilly’s sister when the next book comes out.
Darcy Gordon has worked as a waitress for three years but the owners are more like brothers to her. But she is not being all that honest with them. Darcy is not who she says she is and now could be in danger.
Patrick Devereux is here to help his brother run the restaurant due to his accident. Patrick will take the task on to find out what happened along with the task of running the restaurant and gazing at Darcy.
The Woman He Knows is a Harlequin romance novel by Margaret Watson and the second book to the series Devereux Family Trilogy. I liked the book. I felt through most of it there was already a story that had been told with the sister. When I started the book I didn’t know it was part of a series. The book is easy to follow as Watson gives background on things that have happened.
I felt that this was a very quick paced book and it had a lifetime movie feeling to it, a good lifetime movie. There is no big surprise with the plot but it was well written with the characters who seemed real. I would be interested to finish this trilogy to see how it started and finishes.
The next day quickly I opened up the book Bad Boys Do. Since reading the first book of the series Donovan Brothers Brewery I was completely invested in the series, I had to find out what would happen with Jamie.
Jamie Donovan has decided to change his ways. He didn’t want a causal relationship that was just sex. He wanted to be taken serious especially to his older brother. He wanted to get educated on how to improve the brewery. He didn’t expect though to find a woman in this class that intrigued him, his teacher.
Olivia Bishop did not love teaching but it was something she knew how to do. With a divorce behind her she still had to provide for herself. Olivia’s goal was to enjoy life, to try something different. She was horrified to find herself in Jamie’s attention as she was six years older than him. Age was thrown aside and Olivia let herself go into the arms of Jamie Donovan.
I can’t get enough of this series Donovan Brothers Brewery. This series feels real with the siblings drama that happens throughout the book. You can’t help but love the feisty dialogue that travels through the story. As the second book of the series you already know the siblings but now Victoria Dahl gives insight in Jamie.
Jamie Donovan is everything a playboy should be but I loved that he was changing his ways and it was with an older woman. He found someone who let him be himself, his better self. I liked that Dahl gets Jamie to grow as he had changed from the first book, you also see a darker side of Jamie which was interesting to read.
I love Olivia. She was a shy woman who didn’t know her own self worth. Dahl lets her evolve throughout the story. She becomes confident as her time with Jamie is spent. Dahl includes her ex-husband which was the cliche professor and someone you wanted to hate.
I found myself disliking the older brother Eric as well due to his poor mood he is always in and for those who have read the first book and this one would understand. Of course I can’t hate his character the entire time through the book, but I am intrigued to read his story.
Calen Valens who is part of the Argeneau family is done looking for a lifemate. After two thousand years he knows he will never have one. Then Alex is thrust into his sight and sparks fly. A lifemate but it gets tricky for Calen as he starts out lying to his mate. Calen will work beside Alex to help her in every step which includes saving her life as accidents find their way to her.
Alexandra ‘Alex’ Willan is a cook on edge of a nervous break down as nothing is going right with her preparation of her second restaurant. To make matters worse her cook was tempted away from her. Now Alex has to find a new chef but luck gives her a break when Calen comes her way. Of course things are never that easy. Calen is not who he said he was but still her heart is racing every time they touch. She wants to ignore the feelings but it gets harder and harder to do.
Hungry For You another book from the Argeneau Family series number fourteenth written by Lynsay Sands.
I liked that Sands gave all the Willan girls their chance to find their own immortals so they could still be a family. Alex was a fun character as she was always stressed and Calen was stern but in a comical way.
The book had minimum lies and betrayal which I liked. It wasn’t about the ultimate bad guy they are chasing but one that you don’t exactly think as one which left you guessing. Technically I had a feeling I knew who the bad guy was but it was not for the reason that was found out at the end.
Hungry For You to me was a happier go lucky story as it was cute and fun to read.
