Bedroom Games

Kandis Thornton was on the show for one reason, the money. She wanted to help her mother and the money would do that. Kandis had a plan going into the show but it will be blown away when she gets a partner, Brodie Short. Though as they work together Kandis wonders if something real could come from a fake show.

Brodie Short was wanting to be famous, that was why he was on these reality tv shows. His first show had him as a villain and he wanted to change that. He had become a flirt instead but his partner will have him wanting more.

Bedroom Games is the fourth book from the series Games by Jessica Clare. I really liked this novel. I am a big fan of Big Brother reality tv show and this was based off that popular tv show. Reading this novel definitely brought me back to the show especially with all the deals that are made between the contestants.

Kandis’s character was someone I appreciated because she was playing the game but even through all of it you could still tell the real girl beneath it all. I liked that she found lust with Brodie but she still kept her guard up around him. Brodie’s character was considered the villain from the previous book and I fully expected to dislike him but I didn’t. Within this game it is expected to sneaky and he did a good job, but you got to read his thoughts in the interviews and knew that he was starting to feel something that was real. Though all through the whole book I wondered if those feelings would truly last. I got the answer at the end of the book.

I am reading Body Games next.

Dirty Rowdy Thing

Dirty Rowdy ThingHarlow Vega liked to experience life and took all that it had to offer especially having fun with guys but since her quickie marriage she hasn’t been successful. Then Finn Roberts will come back into her life on business. They make a deal to have fun while he is in town but when things start to get real between them they start to back off of each other and question what they want.

Dirty Rowdy Thing is the second book to the series Wild Seasons by Christina Lauren. I liked this book. It was a good addition to the series.

Harlow’s character is very loud and says what she wants, when she wants. I liked that she was protective and someone who fixed things for those she loved. She was perceived as a wealthy socialite by Finn when she was actually not a snob. Though one things Harlow does wrong is act first, think later which will get her into trouble. Finn’s character was quiet and had an attitude. He was always saying the wrong thing or he was bantering back and forth with Harlow. I actually liked the bantering but I wanted them to find that they were good together because initially it was like they were oil and water.

I found that they are actually very similar as they are the take charge kind of people. That is good and bad because they are both wanting to help or to take charge of the situation. They will work it out but it takes some time.

I am reading the third book next.

Definitely Not Mr. Darcy

Chloe Parker is a complete Austen fan. Most days she feels as if she is from a different time period as she longs for those easy days of Austen’s. Chloe will have her chance to live the life with a documentary that will have several women dressing, acting and living the part of the Victorian lady. What Chloe did not know was this was not a documentary but a dating show to find who will win the heart of an English lord.

My cousin lent me the book giving rave reviews as we are both women who love the Victorian time period. Ironically I had seen this book before. The cover intrigued me and I had put it on my list of books but never went to find the book again.

The character of Chloe was wonderful. She was not the youngest heroine but a mature woman playing a game full of girls. Personally I thought all the characters were very intriguing to read about and how they interacted in this mock Victorian time period. The brothers were interesting when you read this book you will find out which one you like the most and I had my favorite. I liked Henry right from the beginning with his quiet ways but he had sarcasm down perfectly.

I had my suspicions with this story on what would happen. You read enough romances and you will have the clues to lead you. I had found out early or at least suspected but the journey was well worth the ride. I am a complete Jane Austen fan and this book was perfect. After reading this book I now know there would be a few things I would miss if I were truly back into the Regency time period.

At the end I had hoped for more but the ending gave you hope and a way back. This was a wonderful first book for the author Karen Doornebos and for those who love Jane Austen.

Kitty’s House of Horrors by Carrie Vaughan

Kitty Norville, an average woman with a husband, friends and family.  Everything is normal except for the fact that she gets a little furry, along with her husband and few friends.  Kitty is a werewolf, but a werewolf DJ making her voice heard among all the supernatural creatures.

“Talk radio host and werewolf Kitty Norville has agreed has agreed to appear on TV’s first all -supernatural reality show.  She’s expecting cheesy competitions and manufactrued drama starring shapeshifters, vampires, and psychics.  But what begins as publicity stunt will turn into a fight for her life.

The cast members, including Kitty, arrive at the remote mountain lodge where teh show is set.  As soon as filming starts, violence erupts and Kitty suspects that the show is a cover for a nefarious plot.  Then the cameras stop rolling, cast members start dying, and Kitty realizes she and her monster housemates are irronically the ultimate prize in a very different game.  Stranded with no power, no phones, and no way to know who can be trusted, she must find a way to defeat the evil closing in…before it kills them all.”

As I read the back of the book the first thought was the reality show “survivor”.  Through this day and age there are reality shows that are coming back and new ones being made.  It is a mad dash for the next one but to have it in book form I thought the author Carrie Vaughan was creative.  It was a concept that I really haven’t read about, especially with supernatural in the mix.

As the series continued Kitty and Ben have been married for one year now and Cormac, the bounty hunter, is now up for parole.  Instead of being there for Ben and Cormac, Kitty is off to an isolated mountain range for her own reality tv show that is going to be more intense than survivor, it will be survival.
