A Match Made in Mistletoe

Serena Talbot has loved Paul since she could remember. She had been waiting for him to take notice and to know he wants to be with her as well. Serena will get her chance at happiness as it looked like Paul was going to propose but now Serena wasn’t as happy as she thought she’d be, as her mind was drifting towards Paul’s friend Giles.

A Match Made in Mistletoe is a novella by Anna Campbell. When I read novellas from Anna Campbell I usually almost always enjoy them and this one is no exception. I thought she did a good job on this novella and it was entertaining to read.

Now saying that I will say that I had a little problem with Serena. She was a little flighty with her feelings. I figure her feelings for Paul were because of a crush, a childhood crush. Paul was her fantasy and she was suck in that fantasy of him. She was not really seeing the man that he was. Then there was Giles who brought out lust with her. I wondered if she was really feeling things with Giles or it was just the lust. I believed that Giles did love Serena. I was cheering for him throughout the book especially as he had loved her from afar and was going to let her have her fairy tale with Paul. I thought Paul’s character was too perfect. He was the golden child and was loved by all. Though the moment things weren’t going his way he got all angry and was lashing out. He was still a good person but for me he was annoying.

Proposal

ProposalSuze Simon and Jesse are back after twelve years since the sixth book had been published. Alright so first off I had loved this series when I was a teenager. It had finished right in the my senior year of high school and I had loved how Meg Cabot finished their story. So when I heard that the series was being resurfaced with two more stories I was cheering, then I was hesitant. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to read these two stories because that would change my fairy tale ending with Jesse and Suze in the sixth book. Well I decided to take a chance and read the new stories.

Proposal is the 6.5 in the series Mediator by Meg Cabot and Meg Cabot takes us back to Suze and Jesse who are still together but are now in college and Jesse is becoming a doctor. I felt with this story it was almost like a teaser before the novel.

I liked the story of Suze helping out the ghost which is just how Suze has always been. She just has to do things the hard way. The one thing that bugged me was that Suze did not learn from past mistakes. She gets something from Paul and will not be telling Jesse. She has not learned that keeping secrets will get herself into trouble. Although I think the trouble will happen more in the novel.

I will be reading Remembrance next.

Three Proposals and a Scandal

Three Proposals and a ScandalLady Marianne Seaton had been jilted by a Duke but as the lady she was she made the most of it. She smiled towards society and moved on with her life. That life would soon change as her father had all but told her she would marry a man he picked out but the man that has Marianne wanting more was Elias Thorne.

Three Proposals and a Scandal looks to end the series Sons of Sin by Anna Campbell. Although, you never know if more will be written on this series. So I really liked this novella. I was wondering if Marianne would have her own story.

So the story is simple, Marianne is being courted by three men. Lord Desborough, the man her father wanted her to marry. Then there is Lord Tranter, who Marianne didn’t exactly trust. Lastly, was Elias Thorne who was the man Marianne didn’t want to want. He is of course the man that I was cheering for because he was not the fortune hunter everyone thought he was. Elias’s character was a man in love with Marianna. He loved her for the woman she was hiding, not for her fortune.  I liked Marianne’s character. She was a dutiful daughter but there was another side to her than the good society miss. I liked that Campbell had Marianne fighting an inner battle inside her. She did not just fall into Elias’s arms and pledge her undying love. Elias has to work for it and Marianne had to learn to trust.

The other two suitors were the complete opposite of each other, one a villain and the other a good man. The villain was a horrible man and I liked how Campbell ended his story. There was then her father who almost was like a villain. He didn’t believe his daughter when she told him the truth. His pride was too strong but it wouldn’t be a line severed forever. So, I ended up really liking the good suitor and kind of hope that Anna Campbell writes a story where he will find the woman he can love. Though it that doesn’t happen I’m still very satisfied with how the story concluded.

What a Duke Dares

What a Duke DaresMiss Penelope Thorne has loved Camden Rothermere for all of her life but she knew that she could never marry him. She could never marry a man who did not love her though circumstances will change and she will find herself with the man she has always loved.

Duke of Sedgemoor, Camden Rothermere, wanted a wife that he would like but never love as he didn’t believe in love. He had proposed to Pen years ago and found himself rejected. Now nine years later he will find himself side by side with Pen as he has to rescue her.

What a Duke Dares is the third book to the series Sons of Sin Trilogy by Anna Campbell. I liked this book a lot, it was another great book from the author.

You got to know more about Camden who was a man of structure and wanted everything to be perfect. He doesn’t want another scandal. If he had chosen Pen there would have been scandal after scandal but with nine years of maturity they both have grown up. Well Pen is still outspoken and Camden is still very straight laced. I liked that Camden was seeing Pen in a different light and was thinking of seduction rather than pushing her away. This gave them another chance.

There was another story happening which was with Harry, Pen’s brother, and Sophie, Jamie Fairbrother’s sister. I thought they were a little immature but they were a couple who fell in love and struggled to find a way to be together.

I don’t have the fourth book available to read but I would definitely be interested in reading the story especially to know more about Jaime Fairbrother.

Prelude to a Scandal

Lady Justine is willing to pay for what she needs most of all. Her father’s release from prison. The Duke of Bradford is willing to help her but on the condition they marry. Justine knows what she is getting into with Bradford but she is determined and soon finds out that there is more to the man.

Delilah Marvelle is bringing Prelude to a Scandal as the first novel to the three book series of Scandal. The first book sets the mood. I wasn’t sure of the story at first. I was a little lost. It takes the reader to get into the story to enjoy and understand what is happening.

Marvelle is a unique writer with her sensual scenes and intriguing plot.

Emilie by Cherie Claire

Upholding a household, refusing a proposal, dressing like a man and adventuring out to the bayou country to find her father were just a few things Emilie Gallant had to endure.

“Striking beautiful and stubbornly defiant, Emilie Gallant was used to fighting her own battles.  But when she arrived in bayou country hoping to track down her long-lost father, the spirited Acadian found herself struggling to safeguard her own heart.  As a child growing up in the Canadian village of Grand Pre, Emilie had worshipped Lorenz Landry.  Yet the Lorenz she meets on the banks of the Mississippi is not the boy she knew, but a ruggedly masculine stranger who fills her with longing.  Now, as they’re thrown together in treacherous territory, perilous days give way to sultry nights…and to a love that cannot be denied.”

As a romance novel I was immediately drawn to Emilie and Lorenz who were fighting love well only one, Emilie.  Emilie fought tooth and nail to not accept Lorenz’s proposal of marriage.  They have been friends since childhood and Emilie has been in love with him but would that be enough.  Emilie has been the head of her household as they were separated from their father.  She has been in charge of her family and has seen the hardship her mother had to endure without her husband at her side, she didn’t want to loose her own husband in Lorenz.  Though Emilie is attracted to Lorenz she can’t admit to it, she is afraid of being like her mother.  If something happened to him she would be alone and lose half of her soul.  And since Lorenz is impetuous, Emilie is afraid that he will be taken away like her father.  Lorenz finally understands Emilie behavior but he still must have her admit her love.

Through their struggle of coming together as a couple Emilie and Lorenz fought their way to Louisiana in hopes to find Emilie long lost father.  Befriending new friends they were able to get to thier destination only to be surprised by their own family had also journeyed the way with the help of their own suitors but disappointed as news of her father got back to them.  Supposedly he was finding his way back to their home town.  This was a disappointment for all of them since they have left there.  But they knew he would find them when he knew where they went.

I loved the book, the trials Emilie put herself through, the sisters relationships they built but I wished I knew for certain that the father did find his way home.  But in the romance way there is always a happy ending.
