The Sparkling One

The Sparkling OneKatie Marcelli is a party planner and is landing a big job. The problem was the man who hired her, Zach Stryker, was too good looking and looked liked he was going to become her sisters Father-in-law, and he wanted nothing more to stop the wedding.

Zach Stryker knew that his son was marrying too young at eighteen. He just had to prove that his son was making a mistake but Zach will be distracted by the older sister of his son’s fiance.

The Sparkling One is the first book to the series Marcellie Sisters of Pleasure Road by Susan Mallery. I have to say that I really liked this book. It flew by as I wanted to know how Katie and Zach would find a way to be with each other.

I liked Katie’s character. She was a strong, independent woman but she was still timid when standing up to her family. Katie will have her moment which will have me cheering for her. Zach’s character I thought would be ruthless with this family but he really wasn’t. He was just a worried father. Now when Katie and Zach do find that they have chemistry the pages will sizzle. I really liked them together as they were perfect for each other, they just had to figure it out for themselves.

Alright now Mia I had already read about in the last book of the series, but it has been a while. I will be rereading that book as I go through the series. I liked Mia’s character, she was much more mature than David. Now David wasn’t a bad kid but that is what he was, a kid. I didn’t like how immature David got with what he did but it all turned out for the best.

Susan Mallery sets up the series by giving us insights to these sisters and this crazy family. The grandfather is a piece of work but you know they all love each other. I am going to be reading the second book next which will be all about Francesca.

Should’ve Been a Cowbow

Tyler O’Connelli is back for the week visiting her now very pregnant sister. Tyler is excited about seeing her sister, but there is something that is worrying her and that is seeing Alex again. She was caught off guard with his appearance. Feelings are brought back to surface of their one night stand. She doesn’t want to love Alex as she likes her life on the cruise but she knows it is possible.

Alex Keller is over his ex wife and is struck with feelings still for Tyler. After a one night stand his feelings were still strong with just one look at her. He wants something from her but is a little timid to let his heart get involved as he knows she wants much more.

The fifth book, Should’ve Been A Cowboy, is another for the series Son of Chance. I find myself drawn to the series from Vicki Lewis Thompson and its not just the very steamy scenes, which Thompson writes well. There are the characters which you love to love.

Once again the plot is simple but nevertheless it is a fun series to read. Start at the being so you get to know the Chance brothers.

Unguarded by Tracy Wolff

Unguarded was actually a surprise to read. Tracy Wolff’s summary on the back cover was very general but as you start to read there is something not right with the main character and then you find out…

Rhiannon Jenkins plans events and is getting better as she is in the job but now there is a problem. A man who is ten years younger is needing her help for a party but he is stiring something inside of her.

Shawn Emerson is known for his graphic novels and has made his fortune that way. He dates but stays uncomplicated until he gets a look at his events planner. He wants her so he flirts but there is not a lot of emotion he is getting from her and he wants to know why.

Tracy Wolff is creative in the sense she does not out right tell you what is wrong with Rhiannon but lets it slowly unfold. This story is really about a woman’s emotional battle to let a man back into her life after three years of not being intimate with a man because of her rape.

The story hits to the heart and you feel invested in the character and caught off guard how the story will impact you as it is read.

Animal Instincts by Gena Showalter

Looking for a funny, strange, sensual book?  Gena Showalter gives you that with this creation with Animal Instincts.

Unleashing your inner tigress isn’t easy when you’re a doormat by nature!  Still, after escaping a wretched marriage to a cheating SOB, Dallas part planner Naomi Delacroix isn’t about to let another man sweet-talk her into sheathing her protective claws.  Not even hunky millionaire Royce Powell, who’s hired her to arrange his mother’s surprise party.  Even if he does make her purr like a kitten with on heated glance…

Royce claims he’s been in love with her ever since she threw a party of one of his friends years ago.  But if that’s true, why is this incredibly eligible CEO currently taking applications for a wife?  Despite herself, Naomi is tempted to fill one out.  But can he inner tigress believe a man might change his stripes?

Reading the back I knew it would be fun to read and it was but it was also addicting.  I couldn’t put it down.  The characters were real, relatable and fantastic to read about.

I loved how Royce knew he wanted Naomi and went for her again and again.  Did not give up for one moment.  Everything about the book was sensual and extremely funny.

I liked how Naomi tries to be a trigress, a strong woman who is succeeding to but not completely.

Animal Instincts was a delight to read.
