Jessica Jakes was on the run from some men who wanted her friends dead. Jess gets some help from a fellow tattoo artist, named Ike Young. He will take her somewhere safe but with them alone and in close proximity things will start to heat up.
Hard as Steel is a novella that is part of the Hard Ink series by Laura Kaye. I really liked this novella. I had wondered about Jess’s character who was another tattoo artist. She had been brought into the dangerous situation but I hadn’t seen her story linked with the series, then I found this novella.
I was definitely interested in reading Jess’s story because I wanted to know if there was more to the mystery with these soldiers. Now I have already read the rest of the series so I know the conclusion, but I had wondered if more detail was going to be given. Within the book there was no new detail about the soldiers except what had been found out in the other books.
Ike’s character was a man of few words. He closed himself off and did not let people know the real him. Though there will be one to break threw the exterior, Jess. So Jess’s character is a woman who likes to have fun and be wild. This will get her into trouble when a one night stand will bring danger to her and her friends. There is a vulnerable side to Jess which is mostly due to her past with what happened to her father. Ike had a similar past with a death that he places all the blame on his shoulders. I thought that the input of the background stories were a good addition as it gave the story more depth.
Within the book Ike and Jess fight the attraction but it is a loosing battle. They will find that passion together and it will ignite the pages. Laura Kaye writes those steamy scenes well.
There is one more book to the Hard Ink series which I will be reading when it comes out. Laura Kaye has also started another series which stars the Raven Riders that were introduced in the Hard Ink series. The first book does not come out until April of 2016.
Chance Mackenzie had one target in mind but until know that man would stay alive. Chance will get lucky and find the terrorists daughter and use her as bait. He will feel remorse as he will quickly find himself caring for Sunny.
Sunny Miller had been on the run since before she was born. She was ready for anything expect a plane crash. Sunny will find herself stranded with a pilot though everything is not as it seems.
A Game of Chance is the fifth book to the series Mackenzie Family Saga series by Linda Howard. I found myself engrossed with the story. I wanted to know more about this family and what had happened to Sunny’s family. The book itself is just about 250 pages which went by quickly. The story was simple but I liked how Howard wrote the characters. They were each very strong and had secrets of their own but they were not sharing, at least not yet. Now even though the characters didn’t know each that well it did nothing to stop them when it came to those lustful feelings. Of course before this couple walks into the sunset they will have to resolve one tiny problem which is how to get over the fact that pretty much everything Chance told Sunny from the start had been a lie and to stop her father.
Well after reading the fifth book I find myself wondering how the series started. I know that I will be back to the MacKenzie Family Saga series.
After catching up to the whole series it wasn’t long until another book had been added to this ever growing Argeneau Family. The Lady is a Vamp is the seventeenth book.
Jeanne Louise Argeneau works for her family in research and development and likes her work but lately things have been off. Her taste of food is leaving her which depresses her and now she is being kidnapped. It doesn’t take Jeanne long to figure out why this man would do it. Jeanne will though finding herself helping especially as she find that this man is her lifemate. She will construct a plan to keep them a family but nothing ever goes as planned.
Paul Jones is in need of help from a vampire. As he works for them its easy to find one but has to choose the right one. He struggles with his kidnapping of Jeanne but ultimately its his daughter who needs this. Paul will grab Jeanne for his daughter but he will soon find that he wants her for more.
The Lady is a Vamp for me had me thinking about the first book of the series as a person is kidnapped and needs that particular person for help. Of course this time roles are reversed. As usual I start Lynsay Sands book and end up loving it as her characters are witty and quirky like most of her plots. It reads very quickly and there is a heartwarming side to the book especially with the little girl and her situation.
Now Lynsay Sands will have a happy ending like all the others but she throws in a twist at the end having you yelling at the book. You will want to throw the book down but the upside is you are greeted to a little family reunion and the situation will definitely make you laugh at what they do.
I was certainly happy that Jeanne Louise finally got her own book as she was talked about but there was something I didn’t understand. Justin who has been in the series has never found a lifemate for himself. In this book he can’t read the little girl, thought it was due to her tumor but afterwards could he? It would be interesting if she were to be his lifemate but that part was just unclear. I suppose I will just have to wait and find out.
