A Marcelli Wedding

A Marcelli WeddingA Marcelli Wedding is a collection of two books, The Marcellie Bride and The Marcelli Princess by Susan Mallery. These are the last two series from the series Marcelli Sisters of Pleasure Road. I have already read the last book so I know what will be happening in Mia’s life but I will be rereading it right after the fourth book which will complete the series for me.

The Marcelli Bride

Joe Marcelli was new to his family and kept his distance as they wanted him to take his rightful place in the family. Instead Joe stayed with the Navy as that was his first love which will lead him to another job. He will have to protect one of the President’s daughter from another kidnapping attempt.

Darcy Jensen was the President’s daughter that everyone forgot. She didn’t like the limelight and felt like the outcast of the family. She will find herself being taken to a winery where she will feel special and loved for just being herself.

I really loved this book just like the other three. This one had a little more action with the kidnapping which Darcy went through. There is also a secret that Darcy carries which has made herself distant between her family. You find out the secret pretty quickly and I don’t blame her from being distant as it was a big blow to her reality. As far as Darcy’s character I liked her. She was not the strong heroine type but a nervous and scared woman who felt out of place. I liked that she flourished under the care of the Marcelli family. Now Joe is like an outsider as well to his family as he only has known them for a couple years. I liked Joe pretty much right from the beginning. He was a tough guy and guarded. You wanted him to let his guard down and let himself be loved, and you wanted Darcy to be that person to love him.

As a side note I thought Mia still was a little immature but you couldn’t help but like her. She does grow up in the last book and you get to see a knew side of Mia which I liked.

I thought that Marcelli Sisters of Pleasure Road series was a one that was worth reading and I enjoyed  every book to this series.

Rescue Me

Rescue MeSadie Hollowell was coming back home for a wedding but will find herself staying longer as her dad will find himself in the hospital. Sadie will find other things to do when she is not in the hospital and that is to be with Vince. It was supposed to be causal but Sadie could not help but get her heart involved.

Vince Haven was coming to help out his aunt but will find himself doing more than help. He will find himself the owner of the Gas and Go within days of visiting. Vince will be working on the renovation but will be distracted with Sadie who was only supposed to be a one night stand.

Rescue Me is the second book to Lovett, Texas series from Rachel Gibson. I have only read one book from Gibson and it just happened to be about Sadie’s half sister. I liked the book with Sadie’s southern charm but I will have to say that I had to read several pages to really get into it. It wasn’t an instant love but towards the end I was cheering for Sadie and Vince to find a way to make it work. Of course reading the other book I already knew but it was fun to read how they got to their happy ending.

Now within the story I felt I was missing something with Vince’s relationship that he had with his soon to be brother in law and his sister Autumn. I found out that one of the other books,¬†Any Man of Mine, I got from Rachel Gibson tells the story of Sam and Autumn which I will be reading once I get to that particular book in my pile.

Against the Edge

Against the EdgeBen Slocum had no idea that he had a son, a nine year old son who is now missing. He will team up with a social worker Claire and will try to keep it professional but can’t seem to stop thinking about her.

Claire Chastain needed to find Sam and the only way to do that was to get Ben to help. Going to Ben was risky but she had no other idea. Claire had a feeling that he would not be one to leave his son to die in the arms of the kidnapper.

Against the Edge is the eighth book of the series Raines of Wind Canyon by Kat Martin. I had already read the book Against the Odds which started the need to read this series. I re-read the book again just so I was reading the entire book order. So back to Against the Edge which was a very good book. I think that Ben was the most frustrating man out of the group of the tough guys. He was making all the wrong choices or saying the wrong things. Of course things do go better at the end when he learns how to express his thoughts correctly and Claire will take that chance. Claire was someone who did not give up but knew when to cut her losses.

Now aside from the two characters of Ben and Claire who I loved there was Ben’s son, Sam. I really liked his parts that Martin wrote in the book. You got to read how strong this little boy was and how brave. I loved the interaction he had with the dog Pepper.

Now the villain was plainly obviously because you knew he was the one who took Sam. What you didn’t know was his real name or where he was going. Martin leads you on a hunt for Troy which was written well with all the clue Ben and Claire find.

I am taking a break from the series as there is only one more to go but it has come to my library yet but I am looking forward to continuing the series Raines of Wind Canyon.
