‘Til Death Do Us Part

'Til Death Do Us PartCalista Langley operated a business that helped single men and women find someone they could possible be with. Her business was going well with the help of her brother but she was plagued with someone who was watching her. When she receives her third gift she will get help from an author who will help find her stalker.

Trent Hastings was an accomplished author and he had come to Calista’s to make sure she was not a fraud as his sister was Calista’s client. Trent will find himself intrigued by Calista and he will find himself helping with her stalker issue.

‘Til Death Do Us Part is a novel by Amanda Quick. I really liked this novel. I will say that at times I thought the transitions were a little abrupt. I wanted more details with the characters. I also found the romance between Trent and Calista was not a big part of the novel like it is with some of her other novels. Though I will say that didn’t really bother me, it was more of an observation. What I really liked was that they had formed a partnership to help each other with the case, that brought me back to an earlier series Lavinia Lake/Tobias March.

Calista’s character was a business woman. I liked Calista because she had endured and was resourceful. She was level headed and did not believe in romance, not as she did as a young girl. I liked that her character stayed true till the very end. Although she did soften up a little. Trent’s character was interesting as he was a writer. I liked that he took on the style of his character when trying to solve the case.

With the side characters I wanted to know more about them. I really liked Trent’s sister and Calista’s brother. With Trent’s sister it looks like her story is finished but I wonder about Andrew. It would be interesting if he got his own story as he started his own detective agency.

Now in Quick’s style of mystery she certainly had me guessing about who the villain was which I liked though it was short lived as I guessed who the villain was pretty quickly. Though there was a twist that had me rethinking my guess.

I am looking forward to reading the next novel by Amanda Quick which comes out in May of next year.

Almost Perfect

Almost PerfectLiz Sutton is back in her hometown to help the nieces she never knew. She will be thrown when she sees the love of her life who had hurt her all those years ago. She will do her best to stay away but it will be hard to do as he will soon be wanting to meet his son.

Ethan Hendrix had made his hometown his home once again a couple years ago and life had been okay but it will get strange when the woman he loved in high school is back. He will find that she was hiding more than he could ever believe.

Almost Perfect is the second book from Susan Mallery series Fool’s Gold. I started this book and soon found that I could not put it down no matter what I did. So I sat and read. The second book in my opinion was better than the first because there was so much emotion into the story that had you connecting to the main character of Liz. Almost Perfect was an up and down heartbreaking and heartwarming story. Now even though this story has been told many times in books over the years it was very engaging, and that really just has to do with character development which Susan Mallery did really well.

Now the characters there were ones you love which was Liz without a doubt. I loved her ability to survive and fight but with a rational head on her shoulders. Her story kept you wanting her to have that happy ending that she deserved. The other characters were not always ones you liked. Pia was on the list for what she had done in high school and how she treated Liz. Of course Pia will be forgiven but not right away, but she is a different person. There were many single minded people who were cruel to Liz because they only saw the side where she took Ethan’s child away from him, they didn’t know the other side where Ethan was too ashamed to be in love with this woman. Ethan was one of the characters who you wanted to shake or pull his hair and shout at him to fess up and actually admit to the woman you love her. To stop hiding behind the image and take a chance. Now for all the romance readers Susan Mallery will give a happy ending but it was a very close call leaving it to the very last few pages of the story.

Finding Perfect is the next book I will be reading which will be featuring Pia. Seeing that she has changed I think I will like her story.

Revenge at Bella Terra

Eli Di Lucca is the oldest siblings and has to face his demons of his past. Not only is his childhood past haunting him the failure of his families business is troubling. Loosing the money hit him where it hurt but now there is a chance to get it back. It would only cost him a wife.

Chloe Robinson is a new author with her first book published. It was only last year did she meet her father and since then he has been trying to get her married to the men he keeps throwing at her. Chloe will not know that Eli has been made an offer. Chloe doesn’t like to have her life manipulated but Eli will disarm her and love will follow but not before revenge.

The second book Revenge at Bella Terra was fantastic. Christina Dodd brings mystery, betrayal and heartache all the while a romance was building even if it was based on a lie. As I read on I found myself thinking of the other series of hers with the Fortune Hunters. There is something in the way the brothers are portrayed that they remind me of the ones in the other series. I guess it is they are all strong noble men with a tortured life (tortured emotional, no killing) due to their family.

Throughout the book I loved and hated Eli. He was the eldest and the one that was responsible and took it serious but you knew that once he made the deal with her father it would come back to haunt him later on. Dodd makes sure it does.

Now Chloe was a very enchanting character as she drew upon her innocence. But she was strong in her convictions. I liked that she didn’t back down and become weak when trouble started.

From the first book I noticed the family is very old world Italian and I liked that it was about the family and protecting each other. It was humorous with Chloe’s father (another Italian) and the contract he made, he was very old school Italian and just wanted his daughter to have security and protection, and of course grandchildren.

As a Dodd fan I was definitely pleased with Revenge at Bella Terra and can’t wait for Noah’s turn.

Divorced, Desperate and Dating by Christie Craig

The second book in the series Divorced, Desperate is Divorced, Desperate and Dating by Christie Craig.

Sue Finley plots murder and does her research all for her books she writes. But something is happening. Threats are coming to her in the form of a dead rat and phone calls that wouldn’t stop. Jason Dodd will be there to help. They had a moment, a brief kiss but nothing else. Jason now getting a second chance will change that. Sue hopes that as well but she wants more and hopes that Jason will understand that.

I love Sue’s character. She is a mystery writer and takes her research seriously. She has a lot of secrets which gives Jason something to find. I like how Craig creates Sue’s character to witty and sarcastic and Jason’s as charming and a little pig headed. Together they make the pages sizzle.

The added in cats and dogs makes the story charming and sweet.

Divorced, Desperate and Dating is a great second book to the series. The next and last friend will be Kathy. The sole divorced women of the group but that will change.

Concannon Sister Trilogy by Nora Roberts

Nora Roberts brings Ireland back to the pages with the three novels, Born in Fire, Born in Ice, and Born in Shame in the series of the Concannon Sister Trilogy.

Born in Fire

Maggie was a loner, liked it that way unless she was with people she loved.  Like her father who she loved more than life it’s self.  Or her sister Brianna.  Maggie tolerated her mother to the best she could but there was no love lost on either side.  When Maggie started to sell a few items of her glass tragedy hit Brianna and Maggie.  Their father died while Maggie was with him.  But he left a small mystery behind him, who was Amanda?

Maggie and her sister continued to live their lives.  Brianna setting up a B and B and Maggie with her glass which was now making more interest as Rogan Sweeney came into the picture.

Rogan Sweeney, art dealer, already got hold of some of her pieces wanted to make Maggie famous.  He wanted her work, it intrigued him.  He comes to her with an offer but Maggie doesn’t agree at first.  She doesn’t trust him but she finally gives in.  Of course that is not the only thing that Rogan wants, he wants Maggie.

Maggie is overwhelmed with the new life that was being given to her but she didn’t want it all.  She liked certain aspects but wanted to be at home to do her art.  Maggie’s heart only had room for her art and family but now it was making room for other possibilities with Rogan.

Born in Ice

Brianna owns a small cottage that is a B and B.  She is loved by her sister Maggie and her brother-in-law Rogan who are now expecting their first child.  Brianna was not happy but content with her life because there was no other option.  She was at ends with her mother and now she had lost her beloved father.  Life had just been moving along until the Ireland storm brought in her expected guest Grayson Thane a few days earlier.

Grayson Thane “Gray” is a big time mystery writer, who is writing his next book set in Ireland.  The moment he gets to the cottage he is overwhelmed by Brianna.  For a while Gray doesn’t do anything to intimidate but then he can’t take it anymore, he goes after her.  He seduces her to his bed.  Brianna doesn’t except his pursuit at first but finally she gives into what she had been missing all this time.  Brianna knows Gray will not stay forever but that doesn’t stop her from loving him.

Through the book Brianna will live a new life but the past is creeping up behind her as she finds that her father lived a loveless marriage and fathered another child to a woman, Amanda, that was his true love.  Maggie and Brianna are determined to find their half sibling and the woman their father loved.

Born in Shame

A happy life was all Shannon knew, now her life was turned upside down when her mother told her the truth about her father.  Colin who was her father was not her true father.  Tom Concannon from Ireland was Shannon’s true father.  Her mother, Amanda, told all that happened between herself and the two men that she loved.  Hearing the news of her mothers lies Shannon was furious with her but couldn’t really express all her anger and hurt towards her dying mother.   As Amanda closed her eyes she never woke up.  Amanda slipped into a coma and died soon afterwards.

A few days after the funeral she meet a man who was commissioned to track her down.  Her sisters wanted to meet.  At first Shannon declined and pushed the man away then a letter came from Brianna.  Shannon decided to take the journey to Ireland to find this new family but more importantly to find herself.

Shannon gets to Ireland and is overwhelmed by everything there but especially this new family.  As she meets them and finds herself living with Brianna in the inn she doesn’t know what to do.  Brianna wants to befriend her, Maggie doesn’t trust her completely and but finds a way to understand.

Shannon seemed to come to some understanding with her sisters and their mother but the thing that was confusing was the amount of attention which Murphy would pay towards her.  Murphy saw her and knew that she was the one that he had been searching for now the only thing to do was to make her understand this.  Shannon was pulled  into the journey of finding family, love and herself.

Reading these books were fun and entertaining.  They were all very charming with the characters and the plots.  There was a nice flow to the books when each girl had her chance in the story but in each one they overlapped.  You never forgot about the characters.  Each sister was unforgettable and I loved how even though they were all different there was a relationship that couldn’t be broken even for their half-sister.

Nora Roberts showed a wonderful modern day style of romance set in Ireland.
