Bound by Night

Bound by NightElena knew that she needed to leave before her uncle took his advances any further. She will escape to the broken down castle which was abandoned though she will find out that is not exactly true.

Drake lived in the abandoned castle all alone until he finds a woman seeking shelter. He will let her live there to protect her from her uncle, but he will find that there are other things that will become a problem with her being there.

Bound by Night is the first book to the series Bound by Amanda Ashley. I liked the book, it was a book that went by fast for me. I felt that in the beginning of the book the story resembled Beauty and the Beast, which I liked. So vampire books are all very different and I like when author’s give the vampires a little something different than the classic myths. Well most of the facts about these vampires were from the classics but there were a couple differences. One difference was that taking blood didn’t need to be done everyday or in their case every night.

Elena’s character was for the most part scared and a little weak but that was only till she found the courage to get out of a bad situation. She is resilient but in the world that she will be thrown into she wouldn’t be able to handle everything that comes her way. Drake’s character was a vampire that didn’t want to follow in his father’s path. He didn’t like the ways of the old. I liked that about Drake and loved that he wanted to be with Elena more than anything though there will be plenty of ways that will make it difficult.

I am reading the second and final book to the series next which will be with Elena and Drake’s daughter.

Vamps and the City

After finding and finishing the first book rather quickly I went in search of the second book of the series Love at Stake.  Since the last one left me smiling and intrigued about the series I knew I had to go further.

The Plot of Vamps and the City:

“Darcy Newhart thought it was a stroke of genius-the first ever reality TV show where mortals vie with vampires for the title of The Sexist Man on Earth.  As the show’s director, Darcy’s career would be on track again.  And she can finally have a life apart from the vampire harem.  Okay, so she’s still technically dead, but two out of three’s not bad.  Now she just has to make sure that a mortal doesn’t win.  If only she wasn’t so distracted by a super-sexy and live contestant named Austin…

But Darcy doesn’t know the worst of it.  Austin Erickson is actually a vampire slayer!  And he’s got his eye on the show’s leggy blond director.  Only problem is, he’s never wanted any woman-living or dead- as badly.  But if he wins her heart, will he lose his soul?  And if it means an eternity of hot, passionate loving with Darcy, does that really matter anyway?”

Now I had high expectations of this book after I read the first and let’s say I was not disappointed.  Kerrelyn Sparks delivers her squeal, Vamps and the City, with the same witty characters and some new ones.  At first I was thinking oh great now we are going to have a vampire and a vampire slayer fall in love.  Now yes that is what happens but so much more happens which makes the book interesting.  Darcy and Austin are the perfect couple if only they can get over their problems and Darcy will have the chance but Austin is torn.

I really loved the problems and the science that goes on behind the scenes, the science to make everything better for the vampires who are trying to be okay.

Sparks definetly kept my interest from the beginning to the end as Austin and Darcy fought their attraction and just how different they truly were.  It was another book which was charming and had witty characters who entered the pages.

Have you read any Kerrelyn Sparks books?
