Blair Hansen-Lowry was in love with her husband but insecurities were still present with Blair especially with Valentine’s Day tonight. She will want to do something with her husband but when his plane is delayed things will go from bad to worst.
Garrett Lowry wanted to get back to his wife for Valentine’s Day but luck was not on his side as his plane was delayed. He will fight hard to get to her for tonight especially as they had fought over the phone.
The Valentine is fourth book to the series The Wedding Pact by Denise Grover Swank. I loved this novella that continued Blair’s and Garrett’s story. Their story had been the most intense of the series with all the heartbreak that was between them and it had been the most compelling one to read. I liked that Swank continued their story, to show how their marriage was going, and it was anything but perfect. Though it was all them and to me that made the story fantastic to read.
I liked that Blair was softening up. She was still tough and insecure but she was in love and that showed. Of course Blair really is her own worst enemy, but I liked that Blair knew she overreacted right away. Garrett is the perfect husband. He loves Blair for who she is and he doesn’t want to change her. He does put his foot in the mouth but he always makes up for it.
There was a surprise at the end that had me cringing and hoping everything would come out fine. Thankfully that was the case because this couple had gone through so much. I wanted them to be happy and to be happy with each other.
I am really hoping for more on this series and hope that more will be written. I wouldn’t mind reading a story on Garrett’s sister or one on Blair’s assistant. So then I looked at the website and saw she had written the book Only You which is a start of another series that has Kevin (Meghan’s brother in the first book). I will definitely be checking out this book.
Armie Jacobson has wanted his best friends sister for many years but he has kept away. He didn’t think that he was good enough, then he will find himself playing protector to Merissa and things will start to change. He will find out that the woman he has wanted for years, wanted him as well. But there will be a problem and Armie will have to protect Merissa from being hurt when his past comes out.
Merissa “Rissy” Colter has loved Armie for years but she was always seen as a little sister. Then something changes. They will kiss and Merissa will become aware that Armie wants her, but he is still distant. Merissa will not let Armie go which means she has to pursue. Though Merissa will have a problem when accidents are happening around her and Armie’s past comes back.
Fighting Dirty is the fourth book to the series Ultimate by Lori Foster. I loved this book. So far, I’ve loved this series. Though as always I am a Lori Foster fan and I really loved that she went back to the stories with fighters, like the ones in SBC Fighters series. In this one she even brings back several of the main characters from the SBC Fighters series and Jude from the book Jude’s Law.
Alright, so Armie’s character is fantastic. He was not your typical hero. He was loud and known for his sexual exploits. But then he worked for kids and was sympathetic towards them. He was someone you could count on. Merissa was a woman who did the right thing and was just living her life. I liked Merissa but I wanted her to either take the chance and get closer to Armie or step away. Well she does take that step with Armie which I loved. Together they were perfect for each other because they completed each other. Armie was not that outrageous and Merissa was not that shy.
The problems that occurred were due to Armie’s past and Merissa’s. Armie’s past I had wondered about since the beginning of the series. I had a couple guesses and one of them turned out right. I liked that Foster will resolve the issue which helps Armie move on. Merissa’s problems weren’t from that long ago in the past, more towards the present. I thought that the problems they faced were well developed and it made me want to know more.
Lori Foster is continuing with the series but the next book comes out in January of 2017. So I have a bit of a wait but I have no doubt I will enjoy it.
Clio Whitmore was tired of waiting for her fiance, Piers Brandon, to get her to the alter. After eight years she was done waiting. She wanted out of her engagement and to do that she had to talk to Piers brother Rafe. But Rafe will not want her to get out of the engagement. She will be shocked when he will start to plan the wedding.
Say Yes to the Marquess is the second book to the series Castles Ever After by Tessa Dare. I really liked this novel. It was cute and charming.
Clio’s character is a woman who wants to now live life and it was only fair since she had waited over eight years for a man who had made a promise to her. Clio I think was strong for being able to finally walk away and for taking control of her life. I liked the idea that she had come up with to make a living. Then there is Rafe’s character who is a prizefighter and very rough around the edges. I liked Rafe but he was at times a little too controlling when it came to making sure he got his way. Although he was a good man as he was just trying to make sure that he did right by his brother. He was especially being a good man as the woman his brother was to marry was someone he wanted.
The ending was sweet and charming. I liked how Dare resolved some issues that were coming between the characters which gave the happy ending.
Marlowe was one of the best thieves in London. Though Marlowe will soon discover that she might not be who she was, she might be a lady. A Bow Street Runner and an Earl will take her and prepare her to meet her possible parents. Marlowe will be scared to step into this strange new world of well dressed ladies and gentleman but more scared that she was not the little girl and she was to be sent back to the gutters.
Earls Just Want to Have Fun is the first book to the series Covent Gardens Cubs by Shana Galen. I have not read anything from Galen before and if her books are like this I will definitely be trying them. I really liked this book. It was very entertaining to read. A kidnapping story is in noway original but with how Galen wrote the story and her characters she made me want to continue the story.
Marlowe’s character was interesting. She was the perfect thief but due to some memories she wondered if her past was not how she was told. I liked that Marlowe will try to be more as she knows the life she leads will get her killed. Max’s character, who was the Earl, was a little stuck up but as you got to know him better throughout the book he is not that stuck up. After that I did like him and thought he was doing his best to help while trying not to be attracted to Marlowe which of course he found difficult.
The villain is clearly Satin who is the leader of thieves. He is ruthless and vindictive, and he was the reason Marlowe became who she was. I liked how Galen deals with Satin at the end.
So, there are two more book in the series which will feature Max’s siblings. One is already out while the other is coming in March.
Makenna James was having one of those days where nothing was going right. She thought her luck was changing when a person held the elevator door but the moment she got in and the doors closed the elevator stopped. Makenna will find herself trapped in an elevator with a stranger.
Caden Grayson just wanted to get over to his friends and relax but then the elevator stops. Caden goes into panic mode when the lights turn off but he will be comforted by the stranger who was stuck with him.
Hearts in Darkness is a novella by Laura Kaye. Wow. That is the word I have for this story. I was captured by the plot right away and wanted more. This novel was steamy and hot but what would you expect when two people get stuck in an elevator. Well, I would probably go towards a scary movie scene, like in the movie Devil, but that was not the case with this story.
So I normally don’t like stories that are primarily about sex because I want more from the characters, I want a story. In this one I got the story and the hot scenes. I was drawn towards the characters as they told their stories in the dark to each other. They each had their own tragedy. I will say that Caden’s tragedy was worse with what he had gone through but each of their tragedies impacted their lives. I liked Makenna who was very frazzled but you could tell she was a good person and very determined to do well in her job. Caden was a quiet type of man but was someone who was very sensual when he found the right person.
I liked how Laura Kaye wrote the story in the dark for the characters. That let them get to know each other even better. Also their senses were heightened which made everything more sensual when they were getting closer.
Well when I started this I didn’t realize that there would be a sequel to this series. That sequel comes out this month and I have no doubt I will be reading this book.
Josephine “Jo” Atworthy was a twenty eight year old woman and according to her father needed some fun. She will be forced into going to a house party where she expected there would be nothing to do until she meets her prince that she had been corresponding with. Jo will find herself wanting to experience the house party and join in on the scandalous behavior if Damien was with her.
The Naked Prince is a novella that is part of the Naked Nobility series by Sally MacKenzie. This novella is book number 6.5 to the series. I have read this out of order as I have already read the complete series with the exception of the 2.5 novella (I will be reading that one next). Well I liked this novella. I thought it was very much like the other novels. There was some humor, scandalous behavior and two characters that you couldn’t help but like.
I liked Damien’s character. He was a scholarly type but also the Prince of Hearts. He was a man who liked pleasures but he was not as lustful as the other men at the party. I liked that he was reserved but not when it came to Jo. With Jo there was that passion that was between them and it as sweet at the same time because of her innocence. I liked that the novella wasn’t just about the lust as Jo and Damien had to work together to stop Stephen from being trapped by a woman into marriage who he did not love (Stephen’s happy ending will come in the last book of the series).
I am reading The Naked Laird next which will complete the Naked Nobility series.
Bryony Russell and her sisters were left with nothing thanks to her father who had embezzled a fortune and then died fleeing. Bryony knew that was not true but she had to prove otherwise. She will disguise herself as a housekeeper in the Earl of Kilmartyn’s house as he was one of her suspects who was the true villain. She will be surprised when lust will take over but knows that nothing can come from it as he is her suspect and was married.
Adrian Burton, Earl of Kilmartyn, knew that this new housekeeper was not all she said she was. He could instantly tell that she was lying and Adrian wanted to enjoy figuring out as she was a challenge. These days that is what Adrian wanted, a woman he could enjoy not like his wife who was a treacherous woman who set out to keep him in the sham of a marriage.
Never Kiss a Rake is the first book of the series Scandal at the House of Russell by Anne Stuart. This series reminds me greatly of the series House of Rohan which was a series I loved reading and it was the same with Scandal at the House of Russell. I loved this first book. With the romance books I have read I will say that this book is definitely one of the darker cast of characters as there is a lot of treachery, betrayal and sabotage, and plenty of lust. All of those qualities are what made the book for me.
Bryony is a determined woman who wants to find out the truth about her father. She will not stop until she found the man who was responsible for her families ruined reputation. I liked that she was brave but very self conscious about the marks on her face which were probably very little but as she was told she was ugly over and over it sunk in. Adrian is a charming man who is devious with a jaded past. He very easily could have been the villain but he is the hero of the story just one who has a darker side. I liked that he wasn’t convinced about Bryony and knew she was hiding things right away as that kept the story going. Bryony and Adrian certainly have that lust for each other but it is held back that is until they are ready to basically tear each others clothes off though there was that danger that was still in the background.
The villain is a particularly cruel sort of person who is bent on wrapping up lose ends which meant that Bryony was in danger. The villain was not a stretch are you already knew that they had evil tendency but I wasn’t sure if they were the true villain of the book that is until Stuart confirms it.
After reading this book I know I will be back to finish up the series with the other two books.
