Mason Kincaid was ready for a hookup in Las Vegas but that will be stopped when he finds his best friend dancing on a bar. Mason will take Katerina away from the bar and before he could stop himself he will make his move. The move will change everything between them and will have Mason thinking of his future.
Katerina Sands has loved her best friend since she had met him. She never thought it would come of anything but with a one night stand everything changes. Katerina knows she had to distance herself but will be surprised when Mason doesn’t allow it.
Dirty Sexy Inked is the second book to the Dirty Sexy series by Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde. I really enjoyed this book, possibly more than the first book, but to be fair the brothers are all very different with their personalities. What pulled me into the story was without a doubt the characters of Mason and Katerina.
Mason’s character was what you would considered a manwhore and he was very good at it. He was also crude and did whatever the hell he wanted. I liked when as the reader you got to read his thoughts, without those thoughts I don’t know if I would really love Mason. Because of those parts I wanted Mason to find that love he was afraid to reach for. I wanted him to be courageous and declare himself to Katerina. Mason will have you swooning when he steps up. Now Katerina’s character had my heart breaking for what had happened to her years ago. Mason and Katerina were very similar with a crappy childhood. I liked that Katerina moved on with her life and was making the best of the situation. What I didn’t like was she was sitting on the sideline and getting her heart broken every time that Mason was with another woman. I wanted her to tell him how she felt.
I am getting addicted to this series and will be reading the third book next.
Reid McDaniels was in Vegas to make a name for himself, along with his brothers. Reid was looking forward to this new life and then everything stops when his life will be turned upside down by first Lola and then a blast from his past.
Lola Taylor was a showgirl but she wanted more. She was doing what she needed to do to make enough money to make the move to New York. She was doing her best but then she will get sidetracked when Reid comes into her life.
Between Us: Reid and Lola’s Story is the third story to Christine Bell’s series McDaniels Brothers. I really enjoyed this story. I don’t know if I have a favorite McDaniels brother because they are equally interesting characters but the all shared the traits of being kind and strong men. They are the ones you want in your corner.
Reid’s character was certainly a Boy Scout, as Lola referred to him, but he is much more. He is that sweet next door neighbor boy who had a bad boy streak. He wanted to do what was right even though it would hurt him. I liked that he was still sweet, his mother had not been successful in destroying the kindness in his soul. Lola’s character was another who had seen heartache and was doing to best to avoid that, though that shields her heart against truly making a connection to anyone. Lola will take the chance with Reid, her speech to him was sweet and it felt from the heart.
Sherri McDaniels story line for me was very predictable, but I have to say I would have been disappointed if her story line went any different. She was a vile character and it was shown through her actions perfectly.
I enjoyed reading each brother and the conflict they had felt from their tormented childhood. The McDaniels Brothers was very entertaining to read.
Lola’s dream was to write her own story and she finally had accomplished that task. Though now her life is in chaos as her comic book is being made into a movie. Lola is not ready for all that is going to happen especially when Oliver decides it was time to take their friendship to the next level.
Oliver has wanted Lola since he had drunkenly married her but he knew it was not the right time. Then Oliver will find himself and Lola drifting out of the friend zone to more and he will take a chance. He will be thrilled but when her life gets complicated she pushes him away.
Dark Wild Night is the third book to the series Wild Seasons by Christina Lauren. I really liked this book. It was fun as Lola was a writer for comic books and Oliver worked at a comic book store.
Lola’s character was a nerd which I loved. I also loved that she was a writer of comic books. She was a shy person and unsure of herself but I liked that she was shinning when she got the deal for her book. Oliver’s character was also a nerd and he was adorable. I wanted him to speak up more and he does but it is not about what he really wants.
Their relationship was not easy. There were some definite bumps in the road and pretty early on. I hated what Oliver did to hurt Lola, it wasn’t that bad but it hurt her emotionally. Though what Lola was doing and how she was handling the relationship was not right either. She needed to be brave and take a chance.
Harlow Vega liked to experience life and took all that it had to offer especially having fun with guys but since her quickie marriage she hasn’t been successful. Then Finn Roberts will come back into her life on business. They make a deal to have fun while he is in town but when things start to get real between them they start to back off of each other and question what they want.
Dirty Rowdy Thing is the second book to the series Wild Seasons by Christina Lauren. I liked this book. It was a good addition to the series.
Harlow’s character is very loud and says what she wants, when she wants. I liked that she was protective and someone who fixed things for those she loved. She was perceived as a wealthy socialite by Finn when she was actually not a snob. Though one things Harlow does wrong is act first, think later which will get her into trouble. Finn’s character was quiet and had an attitude. He was always saying the wrong thing or he was bantering back and forth with Harlow. I actually liked the bantering but I wanted them to find that they were good together because initially it was like they were oil and water.
I found that they are actually very similar as they are the take charge kind of people. That is good and bad because they are both wanting to help or to take charge of the situation. They will work it out but it takes some time.
Mia Holland was done with her college graduation and with two of her friends they went to Las Vegas to celebrate. Mia was ready to let loose which meant a possible one night stand. Though Mia chose the wrong guy for a one night stand because Ansel Guillaume wanted more. If Mia was honest with herself she wanted more as well and she was going to take that chance with him in Paris.
Sweet Filthy Boy is the first book to the series Wild Seasons by Christina Lauren. I really liked this book. This was one that I sat down and just read, not taking any breaks to stop reading.
Mia’s character was a young woman who was contemplating life after graduation. She didn’t want to go to Boston, it wasn’t in her heart. I liked that she took a chance even though it was one heck of a chance. It is a brave person who just ups and leaves their home to another country. Now Ansel’s character was a Frenchman who wanted that romance and lust and he will get it with Mia. For me Ansel was a mystery at times. I sometimes felt he wasn’t really showing his true self but that was because he was so busy at work, and everything for them is very new. I liked that you did get to know him more.
The chemistry was explosive between these two. This book has a lot of sex and I mean a lot of sex. Being with Ansel seemed to bring out a playfulness to Mia especially in the bedroom. The chemistry doesn’t seem to be going anywhere even when a problem happens.
So I got all four books to the series since I saw that they were available to check out. I couldn’t resist. I am reading the second book next.
Libby St. Clair was expecting the curse to cause havoc on her wedding but everything was going perfectly. Libby will find herself running from her own wedding into a car that was outside the church. She will be surprised that the driver was her friend Noah. With the impending wedding curse just days away Libby will have to make a choice.
Noah McMillan wanted Libby but knew that she didn’t feel the same way. So Noah became her friend. She was someone who understood him and did not judge him.
The Gambler is the third novel to the series The Wedding Pact by Denise Grover Swank. I really liked this novel. It was definitely wackier than the others but that was because of Libby’s character who was more of a free spirit.
Libby was the extreme personality of the three woman. She was very impulsive. I liked her character especially as you got to know her more. What happened in her past was just too sad but I liked that Libby will finally realize that she is able to be loved. Noah’s character was a screw up but really he was doing something that he almost resented. Again he has a sad past but there will be something you find out later that helps Noah get over that past.
I liked the interaction of these two character. They are really alike in some ways which let them understand each other better than their friends or family every could. I thought it was great that they started off as friends because they got to know each other a lot more and that built a strong relationship. The few days they spend together is a little wacky but it fits with who these two were.
So, I had thought that I was done with the series but found there is another story that goes back to Blair and Garrett. I am reading that one next.
Kylie was a makeup artist and on her way to a great new job. The only problem happens when she meets a guy, Cade Archer. She will have a one night stand but will find that Cade will be following her. Kylie wants more but the problem was her new boss, Daphne, wants Cade as well.
Cade Archer had been in love with Daphne for years but he finally saw the light and knew she would never be that girl again. It will be then that Cade will meet another woman and will instantly want her. She was everything he had wanted but he just had to get her to believe him.
One Night with a Billionaire is Billionaire Boys Club sixth book by Jessica Clare. I really liked this book. I thought it was a good finish to the series especially the last scene of the book. It gave some humor and a place for these brothers and their significant others.
Alright now Cade’s character was always the good guy, the calm guy, and the dependable guy. I liked that he was all those things but it drove me nuts that he kept wanting Daphne. Though he wanted the Daphne that he knew years ago. I liked that he let himself let loose and tried to be happy. The other character is Kylie who has had her own troubled childhood where she had felt like a burden. She never wants to feel like that again which is why she is so independent. I liked that she tried to make sure that her relationship with Cade was secret to protect Daphne but it got annoying. I wanted her to be just happy with Cade and be accepted, not hide. But what was worse was how Daphne’s people just let her get away with anything. Daphne’s manager was the worst of them all.
Daphne, Daphne, Daphne. She was a character. I really disliked her to the point that is was really hoping that Cade wasn’t stupid to fall for her again. There were some times that you saw her as not a bad person but there were plenty more with times she was horrible. I will say this and I think Jessica Clare gave the right ending to Daphne’s story.
So that is it for the Billionaire Boys Club but I am looking for more books to read. One series I am going towards is Hitman.
Autumn Haven went loose six years ago in Vegas and married a man she only knew for five days. The honeymoon was over the next day and her husband left. Her life would be forever intertwined with him as they had Conner. Autumn had done her best to avoid the hockey player but she will start to see him a lot more and feelings start to come back.
Sam LeClaire was very good at hockey. He played hard on and off the ice. There were plenty of women who wanted to be in his bed but one. He had Autumn six years ago but he couldn’t be with her then. Sam is thinking differently now as he wants to spend more and more time with his son and find a way to get Autumn back.
Any Man of Mine is the sixth book to the Chinook Hockey Team from Rachel Gibson which was a fun book to read. It’s funny as each book I picked randomly from Gibson they all were about this one family or extended family. I started with Stella and moved on to the next book with Sadie, Stella’s half sister, who was with Vince. Then in this finally book there is Autumn who is Vince’s sister. All of the characters were connected and it was fun to read about them.
So the characters of Autumn and Sam were not good together as they could do nothing but fight. The fighting seemed realistic between them and I liked that they did their best to think of Conner’s best interest and it will be Conner that will bring the parents back together. I liked Autumn for her determination and wouldn’t back down and always did what was best for her little boy. Sam was a hot head and used to things his own way. He does change for the better as his partying ways dwindles. He wants to be back with his ex-wife. Getting Autumn back wasn’t an instantaneous concept for Sam but the more he was around them the more he wanted to stay which was sweet. I did like Sam even though he was a womanizer.
I will be looking for more Rachel Gibson’s books. I don’t know if it will be a new series, continuing or just a novel from the author.
Memoir’s are not usually something I read but I was recommended to read this story by a member of the book club I am in. I was hesitant to pick it up because autobiographies were not the sort of book I went for. The Glass Castle written by Jeanette Walls was a surprise to me. From the first page to the last I was riveted by the story.
Jeannette Walls tells her life as a young girl living in poverty with her sisters, brother, and parents. Life is hard for all of them living on very little and surviving on even less. This is a story of survival for Jeannette and her siblings. How they conquered what life and their parents had given them.
Throughout the story personally I was appalled by the parents and their thoughtlessness for providing for their own children. They did in a way but more could have been done. The children had to go the extra mile and make something of themselves.
This book is truly inspiring and takes a hard look at what life is like in true hardship situations. There is a silver lining at the end. It was an ending that left hope for the author and her family.
