Jenny Tolliver was tried of being the good girl as it got her nothing but a cheating ex-husband and a one way trip back to her home town. Jenny will soon be faced with the man that she had a crush on and find much more in his arms.
Mick Brody was back in his home town but had to be there secretly. Jenny the girl he had wanted back then stumbles upon his cottage and finds out his secret. He will be surprised as she keeps it and finds that he can have more with this woman.
One Reckless Summer is the first book from the series Destiny by Toni Blake. I got caught up in the book which surprised me because it was a simple plot, good girl wants to walk on the wild side with the bad boy. Its an age old story but it was how Blake wrote the characters that has you loving them.
Now on top of that there was pretty much instant sex happening between the two characters which was steamy but there was also intrigue. I wanted to know what was Mick hiding in the broken down cottage. Jenny and Mick were complete opposites and yet it worked. I liked that it was sweet and steamy all the the same time especially as it was a secret. Mick was truly a reformed bad boy and it was sweet what he was doing even though it was against the law. I liked that he trusted Jenny with his secret and that they formed a relationship even if it was unlikely. There are a few ups and downs that they have to overcome but Blake does write a happy ending as well as second chances for these characters.
I don’t have the second book as my library doesn’t have it but I do have the next three books of the series which I plan on enjoying next.
Faith Holland was dumped by her fiancee at the alter but not because of another woman. She is devastated that the man she loves will never truly love her back so she leaves. Three years later she is back to help out with her family only to come face to face with Levi Cooper who couldn’t keep quiet about her almost husband.
Levi Cooper was the local police chief of his hometown and three years ago helped stop a wedding that would leave two people unhappy for a life time. He will soon run into his best friends almost bride and will find that he might want to get to know Faith a little more but is weary to be around her still.
The Best Man is the first book of the series Blue Heron from Kristan Higgins. I fell in love with this book. It was mushy, full of emotion, heartwarming and heartbreaking all wrapped up into one story.
I have not read anything from Kristan Higgins before but I liked her detail of the characters as there was a lot of back story of Faith and Levi. You really got to know the characters well and why they act the way they did. Faith was someone you wanted to find that love she craved and for her to really move on to different techniques to finding an eligible man to date and love. It was cute how she deciphered the men but found out that it wasn’t full proof. Now Levi I wasn’t sure I wanted to like. All the time he was petty to Faith and as a character he was hard and stubborn. Of course thanks to the background you understand why he is so tough. I wanted him to loosen up earlier in the book but Higgins will find a way to break the shield he holds onto.
This story had ups and downs all over the place with Faith’s personal life, her family and especially with Levi, but a happy ending does come true.
For a first book to the series I drawn in and am looking forward to finding out more from this series but until then there are several other novels that don’t belong to a series of hers to read.
Marcus MacInnes, Earl of Weston, is back to his estate to find out about the ridicules idea that there were smugglers in ties with Napoleon. He will be distracted by a young woman and her little brother as they are trespassing on his land. He will be intrigued as Sarah is not the usual woman he surrounds himself by.
Miss Sarah Tisdale likes that she has no suitors. Every time they get close she acts like herself, too out spoken. Sarah will be intrigued by Marcus and find that he is not all that he seems to be and she will want more from him especially as danger hits close to home.
I had tried Stefanie’s Sloane first book to the Regency Rogues and liked the book. The second book, The Angel in My Arms, was good. The book for me went really fast. It was just under 300 pages but I was able to quickly read it. The plot was easy to follow and it was quick with the action which was placed within the story and the subtle moments. The characters were fun to read, Sarah with her outspokenness and insecurities along with her brother. Then there was Marcus who was drifting through life being an agent. I liked there was a fire between Marcus and Sarah as it gave it some heat. The enemy I knew was coming but it was well done with the scenes.
The third book to the series is The Sinner Who Seduced Me.
“Socialite Eden Carlborough didn’t expect running a girl’s camp to be easy, but she never thought she’d literally be run up an apple tree by the little monsters. She was equally surprised to come crashing down into the capable arms of orchard owner Chase Elliot. While her handsome neighbor’s overbearing ways were highly irritating, his touch ignited feelings she’d never known. She never imagined she’d be so very…tempted!”
Eden Carlborough had no choice but to fend for herself and only a strong woman would prevail, and only a determined man can break those boundaries.
I loved this short story. Temptation was a pleasure to read. Eden was a strong woman and was on her own. After the father’s death and a lack of funds she had to find other means. I love that she was able to find a way to continue on when she had nothing.
Then there was Chase Elliot. He was a much-needed man in Eden’s life even if she didn’t want it at first. Chase had a very caveman complex. Some times I found myself loving that side other times wanting to hit him for his attitude.
