So I was wrong partly. A Lick of Frost did not really have Frost center stage in fact Frost plays a disappearing act.
Staying in a small conference room was bad enough without the pressure of defending themselves against the King of Light. Three of Merry’s guards have been accused of rape of a Seelie lady. They are lies all part of the King’s plot. Merry will now start fearing the king more as his attentions become clear that he is interested in her more as a woman. With a battle looming in the background Merry will not only fear the King but now mourn the loss of one of her beloved guards and for the safety of her children.
A Lick of Frost was not as quick as the fifth book but it was a quick read for me. You are pulled into the story quickly with the turn of the first page. I liked the addiction of lawyers in the first part especially the one that was more immune to them.
I was happy that Hamilton finally had Merry get pregnant but the surprise is who is the father to these twins. I liked the twist and not terribly surprised especially as this is supposed to be the fey and magic is all around them.
As far as the series goes I am liking it more and more as we are coming to more an a conclusion especially with the ending of this book. Of course the ending is really nothing much to be too happy with except wanting to see the King killed for his actions.
I am very interested in the next book to find out what will happen with Merry and her men.
Susan Mallery brings a humorous group of characters together in the series The Marcelli Sisters of Pleasure Road. I took a chance and picked a random one which happened to be the last book of the series, The Marcelli Princess.
Mia Marcelli’s live was turned upside down watching her lover die. But that was five years ago and Mia is with family and her son she adores. Things change quickly though when Mia finds herself in bed with Diego who was dead and claims to be Raphael a Prince of his country.
Raphael has on mission and that is to see his son that he has now discovered. Seeing Mia brought back old feelings but he could not get side tracked. He will go up against the entire family to win their love and approval but he will shack their trust when his plan is out in the open.
You certainly will get caught up in the story. The characters specifically the Marcelli family will have you laughing and fighting for family. Mallery brings a sense of a strong family bond which does not get altered only stronger when one is threatened.
I loved Diego but really Raphael who happens to be a prince. He is really there under false pretense and has no remorse whatsoever which is horrible. You really end up hating him for trying to split a perfectly happy family and for lying. But of course everything changes and as the reader you will give Raphael the chance but it better be a good groveling.
Mia’s character is fantastic. I love the interaction of her with the family and especially with her son. She does not falter completely to Raphael but then gives in to get her heart broken again but this time anger is there instead of remorse. She acted just as any woman would.
I was pleasantly surprised with how Mallery ended it and after reading the last one and getting to know everyone in the family I definitely want to read how it all started from the beginning.
A girl who obeys all sounds interesting but to have to endure it is not an easy task Ella goes through. Given the gift of obedience since birth she obeys all orders but Ella fights it every step of the way. Her struggles will lead her to a prince, a finishing school and all the way to a ball.
First time reading this book I would have been in the seventh grade. I was given a choice and picked Ella Enchanted randomly. This book is one of my favorites and can be read over and over, and I have. I love Ella’s character as she struggles for her way out but never reaches it, of course not until the end.
Char is the prince, Hattie and Olive the stepsisters all create this story to be fun and entertaining in a very sweet way. I love how the ogres and giants all have their own language. And how the fairies are real with magic pulsing in their bodies.
There is love but it is innocent love and rather refreshing for a young adult book. Gail Carson Levine creates the fantasy in this fairy tale adapted from Cinderella. The movie that is based on it is true to the book and fun to watch.
Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine is a unique fairy tale that will make you believe in miracles.
