The Vampire and the Virgin by Kerrelyn Sparks

The eighth book of Kerrelyn Sparks is the latest of the series Love At Stake.

The Plot of Vampire and the Virgin:

“FBI psychologist Olivia Sotris was looking for a cool ocean breeze, sand between her toes, and a break from her crazy, chaotic, and sometimes all-too-dangerous life.  But when she escaped to the small Greek island of Patmos, all she got were medding grandmothers trying to marry her off.  Can’t they see that none of the men around her interests her-except Robby MacKay?

Robby needs to cool off, too, since all he can think about it revenge on the Malcontent bloodsuckers who once held him captive-but then he meets Olivia, the beauty with wild curls and a tempting smile.  When a deadly criminal from a case back home tracks her down, Robby will have to save her life-along with giving her a first time she’ll never forget…”

The latest edition is a hit.  I love reading about Robby.  Sparks gives humor to her characters and a sense that they belong together.  The characters are dynamic and the plot is fantastic.  Now all I am wondering about is her next book.  When will it be out and who will it be about?

For those who have read the books they know the character Connor and for me I can’t wait for him to find his true love.

Forbidden Nights with a Vampire by Kerrelyn Sparks

The seventh book of Kerrelyn Sparks Love At Stake Series is fantastic.  There is drama, action, romance, humor, and very steamy scenes.  You will fall in love with the characters.

The Plot of Forbidden Nights with a Vampire:

“Vanda Barkowski is in trouble.  As the owner of a hot nightclub, she’s more unconventional than most of her fellow vampires, and if some think her a little out of control, then so be it.  But after three former emplyees filed a complaint about her temper, Vanda is sentenced to an anger management class.  Worse, Phil Jones agreed to be her sponser.  Phil, the mortal who is forbidden to her…

If Vanda knew who-or what-Phil really is, she’d reconsider her attraction to him, for his true nature is wilder than anything she’d ever imagined.  He has tackled the beast within and now is the perfect person to help Vanda with her rage…if only he can keep his cool when she makes him so undeniably hot.  But with rogue vamps on the loose, will they ever have their forbidden nights?”

Sparks delivered another hit with Fobidden Nights with a Vampire.  It was an amazing book to read with all the secrets that were revealing and the background of each characters which was exciting to read.  I loved to read about Vanda and why she is the way she is.  Then with Phil is was very interesting to find him as an Alpha werewolf and what he can do, and the fact that he will live longer.  He will live like an immortal.

I liked how in the middle of the book there is the mention of the school which they are trying to establish and recruiting people to work there.  It is for kids who are special with powers or mortal children with vampire parents.  It could be interesting if another series went off in that direction a little later on.

The ending was perfect especially for Vanda.  Everything settled and worked out.  Phil was very happy as well.

Kerrelyn Sparks writes another fantastic book that continues the Love At Stake series.

Secret Life of A Vampire by Kerrelyn Sparks

The series Love At Stake is a hit.  Kerrelyn Sparks brings creative characters and a dynamic plot to the pages with each book.  Her sixth book,  Secret Life of A Vampire brings those characters back to the pages but this time Jack has the floor and will be assisted by Lara a police officer.

The Plot of Secret Life of A Vampire:

“A typical bachelor party is all about beers and beautiful women.  A vampire bachelor party is no different-except the men are drinking Blissky (whiskey-flavored synthetic blood).  And no one can throw a party quite like Jack, the illegitimate son of the legendary Casanova.  But when the party gets out of hand the cops show up, Jack has some explaining to do…if only he wasn’t stuck speechless by the beauty of officer Lara Boucher.

Lara is sure there’s something more than a bachelor party going on.  What is Jack hiding?  And why is he so interested in the recent disappearance of young women all over town?  Her investigation uncovers more than she wants to know, especially about this modern-day Casanova.  But if she’s ever to make detective, she’ll need to expose all his secrets…if only her heart wasn’t on the line.”

Jack and Lara are a perfect pair.  They are able to combine forces while getting their hearts tangled.  I liked this story for the fact that Lara is another strong women but she is immune to Jack’s control, to any vampire mind control.  That gives her a great advantage and will let Jack know that his heart is on the line as well.

Having the son of the Casanova is a nice touch.  I liked the use of historical characters mixed in with fiction and the use of gods and goddesses even if they were the bad vamps.

Finally the story brings the were-animals more into the light and Phil will be coming center stage in the next book with Vanda.

Kerrelyn Sparks is a clever writer bringing the very traditional vampires into a new light.  A fantastic series to devour over.

All I Want For Christmas Is A Vampire by Kerrelyn Sparks

Kerrelyn Sparks brings her fifth book with Ian making his way into the vampire world but with a new look about him.

The Plot of All I Want For Christmas Is A Vampire:

“This Christmas isn’t so merry for Toni.  Her best friend’s been locked up in a mental hospital ever since she told the police she was attacked by vampires, and the only way for Toni to get her out is to prove that bloodsuckers really do exist.  So she’s taken a job as a bodyguard for the Undead, but she gets more than she bargained for, especially when she meets Ian MacPhie, a Scottish rascal looking for Ms. Right.

Although Ian’s nearly five centuries old, he looks and acts like a twenty-seven-year-old hunk.  How can a dead man be so damn sexy? Could Mr. Wrong be Mr. Right?  One forbidden kiss could lead to an eternity of passion-and all it takes is one moment under the mistletoe…”

I am actually very glad to have found this author.  For her writing about the supernataural of vampires I love her humor among the Undead.  Ian is a fantastic character who has now changed but he can’t change his old fashioned ways which I love.  Then there is Toni who is helping the vampires but really helping herself.  But I love her strength.  And they are perfect together.

In the book there are going to be surprises.  More were-animals, a panther and a bear.  Then there is Constantine who is even more different from just hoovering.  He is possibly a healer?  I am still confused.  And then Vampire blood just might be a cure for humans who are in trouble and that will help for Toni.  Then there is a little humor with Ian as he goes on the search for his true love but he does it through 21 century technology, which is funny to read about.

Kerrelyn Sparks is a hit with All I Want For Christmas Is A Vampire.  There is a lot of wit, adventure and humor thrown into the mix and is a pleasure to read.

The Undead Next Door by Kerrelyn Sparks

The fourth book of the series Love at Stake has Sparks bringing out Jean-Luc for a final fashion store before he goes into retirement but that will stop when he sees a true woman he could fall for.

The Plot of The Undead Next Door:

“Heather Westfield has always lived a quiet life, but that all changes when she helps a very handsome, very mysterious stranger. There’s something not quite right about Jean-Luc, but still, she’s never been with a man so charming, so attractive…so wonderful. Now if only a murderous villain wasn’t after them, they might get their happily-ever-after.”

The Undead Next Door was brilliant. I was laughing, smiling, sighing over the whole book. The characters of Jean-Luc and Heather were fantastic and had great depth to their characters.

Jean-Luc doesn’t want to harm anyone and doesn’t want to fall in love but he can’t help it when Heather comes into his life with her cheerful daughter and wise-ass babysitter. Heather is a teacher who is unsure of herself in a lot of things. She can’t seem to be strong for herself all the time. But I do love that she is already aware that Jean-Luc is not everything he seems to be. I like that she thought he was an immortal which is almost right.

The bad guys are not really showing right now, but there is an enemy from Jean-Luc’s past who wants nothing more but to put Jean-Luc into the ground permantly.

As far as the other characters I still love how they are all interacting little by little. Ian is taking the potion to age himself so he can find love. Then Shanna and Roman are going to have another baby who will probably be like Constantine. Not quite human but the best part is she is going to turn to a vampire when the children are older. I didn’t know how they were going to do this with keeping them together, so maybe the same thing will be with Jean-Luc and Heather at a later point.

Kerrelyn Sparks is delivering hit after hit with the series Love at Stake and I can’t wait for the next one.

Be Still My Vampire Heart by Kerrelyn Sparks

The third book, Be Still My Vampire Heart, of the series Love At Stake was fantastic.  Sparks brings Angus MacKay and Emma Wallace to the for front of the story as they will battle about who really is the evil vampire.

The Plot of Be Still My Vampire Heart:

If it was still beating, Angus MacKay has been undead for almost five hundred years  and it’s not often something, or someone, surprises him.  Until Emma Wallace.  The sight of this luscious agent from the CIA’s elite Stake-Out team was enough to stop Angus in his tracks.  But then he discovers that she’s a vampire slayer, intent on killing the “monsters” who killed her parents.  And it’s Angus job to stop her.

The only good vampire is a dead vampire.  It’s been Emma’s motto since she committed her life to the destruction of these things.  Now Angus MacKay wants to convince her differently.  Sure, he’s sexy Highland warrior who seems to have stepped off the cover of a romance novel, complete with brogue, kilt, and sword, but he’s also one of them.  And it’s her job to kill him.

The war is on, but will it end in the destruction of one or both of them…or in total surrender to a passion for the ages?”

The first book amazed me, the second was thrilling and now the third I am astonished that I am reading this book so fast.  Sparks has made me a fan in her series Love At Stake.  The third book, Be Still My Vampire Heart, was wonderful to read.  I loved Angus and Emma.  They were great characters to end up falling in love with each other.  Emma is a strong woman going for revenge and ultimately Angus will help her get that revenge but he will also make her see that they are not all bad.

The bad vampires of course are the Malcontents.  We now see some of them and the story of them are starting to unravel little by little.  Of course the story is really about Angus and Emma but there are side stories going on.

I liked the fact that all the characters interact, new and old.  Keeps you from forgeting who is part of the series.  I like that Shanna and Roman did end up having thier baby and Sean came to see even though he is worried.  The baby doesn’t have fangs so he is a normal baby but is he really.  Constantine is going to surprise a few people.  And Emma who will not be the same Emma anymore which will be better for her and Angus.

Vamps and the City

After finding and finishing the first book rather quickly I went in search of the second book of the series Love at Stake.  Since the last one left me smiling and intrigued about the series I knew I had to go further.

The Plot of Vamps and the City:

“Darcy Newhart thought it was a stroke of genius-the first ever reality TV show where mortals vie with vampires for the title of The Sexist Man on Earth.  As the show’s director, Darcy’s career would be on track again.  And she can finally have a life apart from the vampire harem.  Okay, so she’s still technically dead, but two out of three’s not bad.  Now she just has to make sure that a mortal doesn’t win.  If only she wasn’t so distracted by a super-sexy and live contestant named Austin…

But Darcy doesn’t know the worst of it.  Austin Erickson is actually a vampire slayer!  And he’s got his eye on the show’s leggy blond director.  Only problem is, he’s never wanted any woman-living or dead- as badly.  But if he wins her heart, will he lose his soul?  And if it means an eternity of hot, passionate loving with Darcy, does that really matter anyway?”

Now I had high expectations of this book after I read the first and let’s say I was not disappointed.  Kerrelyn Sparks delivers her squeal, Vamps and the City, with the same witty characters and some new ones.  At first I was thinking oh great now we are going to have a vampire and a vampire slayer fall in love.  Now yes that is what happens but so much more happens which makes the book interesting.  Darcy and Austin are the perfect couple if only they can get over their problems and Darcy will have the chance but Austin is torn.

I really loved the problems and the science that goes on behind the scenes, the science to make everything better for the vampires who are trying to be okay.

Sparks definetly kept my interest from the beginning to the end as Austin and Darcy fought their attraction and just how different they truly were.  It was another book which was charming and had witty characters who entered the pages.
