Becca was ready to get back to work but she was scared, especially because the hospital was where she was attacked. But she wanted to get on with her life and be happy with Nick. Though that happiness will be threatened when she starts to see the man that had hurt her.
Hard Ever After is the final book to the Hard Ink series by Laura Kaye, though there are some spin off books which I can’t wait to read when they are available to check out. I absolutely loved this book. It was really fun going back to Becca and Nick who started the series and that they were going to get their happy ending with everything that had happened. Though the danger wasn’t over quite yet.
I loved how Laura Kaye wrote Becca. She had been a strong woman but when everything calms down its like Becca finally feels the impact of all that had happened. She becomes weaker, sad, and shaken by what had happened. She felt real. Though the fighter in Becca is still there and that will be shown at a critical moment, I was cheering for Becca when that happened. So Nick’s character is reliable and strong but he is also scared. He doesn’t want anything to happen to Becca especially now when they are so close to be truly happy.
Alright, so Laura Kaye wraps up the story in a nice little bow which is sappy and a little too perfect, and I loved it anyways. I loved that all these characters had that happy ending.
So the Raven Riders series who were mentioned in this series will have their own now and the first book just came out in April. There is no doubt in my mind that I will be reading this series. Then there is a continuation of one of the characters from Hard Ink, which is Detective Kyle Vance who helped the men. Well he will have his own story coming out this month. So I wouldn’t have to wait too long.
Jessica Jakes was on the run from some men who wanted her friends dead. Jess gets some help from a fellow tattoo artist, named Ike Young. He will take her somewhere safe but with them alone and in close proximity things will start to heat up.
Hard as Steel is a novella that is part of the Hard Ink series by Laura Kaye. I really liked this novella. I had wondered about Jess’s character who was another tattoo artist. She had been brought into the dangerous situation but I hadn’t seen her story linked with the series, then I found this novella.
I was definitely interested in reading Jess’s story because I wanted to know if there was more to the mystery with these soldiers. Now I have already read the rest of the series so I know the conclusion, but I had wondered if more detail was going to be given. Within the book there was no new detail about the soldiers except what had been found out in the other books.
Ike’s character was a man of few words. He closed himself off and did not let people know the real him. Though there will be one to break threw the exterior, Jess. So Jess’s character is a woman who likes to have fun and be wild. This will get her into trouble when a one night stand will bring danger to her and her friends. There is a vulnerable side to Jess which is mostly due to her past with what happened to her father. Ike had a similar past with a death that he places all the blame on his shoulders. I thought that the input of the background stories were a good addition as it gave the story more depth.
Within the book Ike and Jess fight the attraction but it is a loosing battle. They will find that passion together and it will ignite the pages. Laura Kaye writes those steamy scenes well.
There is one more book to the Hard Ink series which I will be reading when it comes out. Laura Kaye has also started another series which stars the Raven Riders that were introduced in the Hard Ink series. The first book does not come out until April of 2016.
Beckett Murda was one of five soldiers that was out to find the truth about what happened that night when their team went down. Beckett, along with his team mates were getting close but the closer they got the more danger that followed.
Katherine “Kat” Rixbey was just coming into the chaos but she wanted to help her brother and his teammates. As a prosecutor Kat has been working on high profile cases which will lead her to investigating the men that were behind her brothers and his teams misfortune. Kat will do what it takes to help.
Hard to Let Go is the fourth book to the series Hard Ink by Laura Kaye. Really loved this book, loved this series. I couldn’t get enough of these tough but broken military men whose mission was to clear their names and figure out what had happened.
Beckett was the main guy of the book and I have to say that I really loved him. He was a mess after the mission but it was really because of his past. He had a tragic past that made him think he was nothing. Kaye really makes you hate Beckett’s father. Then there was Kat who had a good childhood but her present was getting screwed up thanks to an ex boyfriend. Kat in my opinion was a strong woman but she was not invincible, and there will be a couple of situations to prove that fact. The relationship between Beckett and Kat was not on friendly terms. They rubbed each other wrong but there is big time chemistry. The chemistry was steamy but there was more to their relationship that is once they let themselves want more.
Now the mission will take over a big part of the book which it should as it was concluding. There were a lot of pieces that needed to be explained, and it will be. I thought that Laura Kaye wrapped up the mission really well as she put all the pieces together.
With the fourth book finished the series is over but it looks like there will be another book coming next year. This book will be about Nick and Becca and a wedding.
Jeremy Rixey was a fun loving guy but found himself overwhelmed with all that had been happening to his brother and his brother’s teammates. He will find that one person will give him some peace, Charlie, who had suffered his own tragedy.
Hard to Be Good is a novella in the series Hard Ink by Laura Kaye. First off as you can see from the cover this is a male on male suspense romance book. I will admit I was apprehensive about the book but as it was part of the series I wanted to read all of the books. There was also the fact that I really loved Jeremy’s character from the very first book.
Well all I can say is wow. The sex scenes were intense and to be honest that was all there really was with the book, which was kind of disappointing. I wanted more with these characters, wanted more of a story not just a novella. Previously you had gotten to know the characters from the other books but I wanted more background, more of the build up with the romance. Now even with my wants of more detail I did truly like the novella and it was because of Jeremy and Charlie. I loved Jeremy who was so charismatic and bold while there was Charlie who was shy but a genius. Together they worked.
The mystery behind Nick and his men gets a little swept under the rug as the romance between Jeremy and Charlie take center stage. I have no doubt that the fourth book will bring more insight with this mystery that surrounds these men.
I am looking forward to reading the fourth book to the series.
Derek DiMarzio and his team are going after a lead which has them going after Garza. They know the best way to get to the ex-soldier is through the man’s sister, Emilie.
Emilie Garza was a therapist and good at her job but she had felt weak thanks to her ex-husband. She will feel alive again when a man, Derek, wants her. Though Emilie will soon find out that he doesn’t just want her but what information she can provide.
Hard to Come By is the third book to the series Hard Ink by Laura Kaye. I really liked this book. The story for me about the five soldiers is certainly moving along and looks like it will be over after two more books, unless more characters are introduced.
Derek is damaged like the rest of his team, he just had a bigger reminder with his leg missing. I liked Derek because he was a man that tried to make the best of things even in the worst of times. He will however make a mistake and lie to Emilie, which will be a problem done the line. Now Emilie is another strong woman that is in the book. Well she was fragile at times but overall a strong woman that was able to take all that was happening. I liked that there was not absolute trust after Derek screwed up as she had been burned before. If she trusted too easily it would not fit her character.
So the mystery of these soldiers betrayal starts to become clear with what had happened. They are getting more clues and a bigger break to find out what they need to know. There was a big reveal towards the end which I was not expecting but happy to read. I can’t wait to find out how that change of events will impact their investigation. I will hopefully find out something more when I read Hard to Be Good, which I will be reading next.
Edward “Easy” Cantrell job was to protect Jenna Dean but wasn’t there when she truly needed him. Now he will make sure that he is there for her after her traumatic experience with the drug dealers.
Jenna Dean had survived her torture but was not sure if she would survive after the ordeal. She found herself terrified every moment. She will bond with the one who had helped rescue her that night, Easy. She will find that she is not the only one that needs to be healed.
Hard to Hold on To is a novella which is part of the series Hard Ink by Laura Kaye. This novella is number 2.5 to the series, it was a novella that was worth the read and fit right into the series. It had been a while since I read the first two books but I will say that I fell right back into the series. The novella starts right off where the second book ended. Jenna is being brought back to Hark Ink Studio, she had been hurt and drugged.
I was intrigued to read this novella because I had gotten to know her character from the previous book. I wanted to know what had happened in that room as she sounded broken, luckily she had not gotten the torture that her sister had received four years ago. Nevertheless Jenna was harmed and was traumatized over the event. She makes a bond with Easy. I liked Easy, he was quiet but there was a dangerous side and damaged. They were both in need of healing.
The mystery of what had happened to these men was still up in the air. They are retrieving some information that is helping them decipher what had happened thanks to Sara from the previous book. What happened to these men to me was not the focal point of the book, it was Jenna and Easy. I didn’t mind that as I wanted to know more about Easy and Jenna. I’m sure that more information will come in the third book, which I will be reading next.
Shane McCallan was by far the most charming man in the group and it comes in handy when he is in a tough situation. He will find himself stumped when he meets Crystal. He will want this woman but before he can trust her he needed to know more of her situation and about her. Shane will find out what he needs to know and knows he needs to protect her.
Crystal Dean, her real name Sara, is a waitress at the club her boyfriend helps run but she is not there by choice. She is there in order to survive but now that is getting to be dangerous with things spiraling out of control. She will have to make a choice which will have her turning towards Shane.
Hard As You Can is the second book to Laura Kaye’s series Hard Ink which was a great second addition to the story and one that I couldn’t get enough of. This story picks up right after the first story which I liked as you are brought right back to that time. I thought the first book was gritty but the second book was even more so. There was definitely more violence going on especially with Crystal’s character.
Her character was in a bind that started with her father and his choices. There were some pretty horrific things that happened to her and one that is a continual one is the domestic abuse that she receives with her criminal boyfriend. She only dates him to survive and to protect her sister. All of this should have broken her but she was a fighter. Now Shane is a charming man but has an edge that makes him lethal when needed. He is not a trusting man but he is a good man and wants to help Crystal get her out of her bad situation.
Throughout the story I was waiting to find out more on what was going on with this mystery and Kaye gives once again another clue that leads us closer. Part of me just wants all the information right now but this intrigue is great because I am anticipating and needing the next book. I can’t wait to read Jenna’s story especially with what had happened to her at the end of the book. Her story is out this month as a novella and the next novel is coming out in November. I might take a break from Laura Kaye only to have the series build up a little more.
