Cress is the third book to the Lunar Chronicles series by Marissa Meyer. Another very entertaining book in the series. With series like these I don’t always like them but this one has captured my attention.
The third book is with Cinder, Wolf, Scarlet, and Thorne who had all banned together to get to Cress as a rescue. Though that plan will quickly go bad when they are split up into groups. Their plan to stop the Queen is slowed down but they are all determined to stop the Queen and to save Kai from a fate which will be his death.
Within this book there was more action happening which was because the group was separated. I liked that each group got their own part in the book. You were able to get to know the characters better. Cress, the new character, was very naive but she was smart, and did the best that she could. So other than the new character there were some big things happening in this book, like identities being revealed and big rescue attempts.
I am reading Fairest next which will be about the Queen Levana. Then I will be finishing up the series with Winter.
Naomi was kidnapped eighteen months ago and the only way she knew to survive was to tell her captors she could make them rich as she was talented with computers. She helped the leader make millions but soon she will find herself rescued and then taken again by a different man. Only he wanted more than just her help, he wanted her as well.
Vasily had one goal which was to get back his sister. He would do anything for his sister which meant taking a woman who would get him to his goal. Although Vasily had not expected Naomi. She was unique and let him feel things that he had buried long ago.
Last Kiss is the third book from the series Hitman by Jessica Clare and Jen Frederick. I liked the book. It was once again with a man from a troubled group and a woman that needed to be rescued but I liked that Naomi was not your average victim. Naomi had Asperger s but a mild form of the disease. I liked how curious she was but also so fearful of germs that she went into panic mode. Her character stayed consistent through out the book. But her character also grows especially with the strength that Vasily gives to Naomi. With him at her side she could handle all the terrible things that come her way. So then there is Vasily’s character. He is a bad guy but he is a bad guy for a reason. He had to protect his sister years ago and by doing what he did he created his own reputation for being ruthless. Although Vasily is not as terrible as I thought. I liked that he helped Naomi and was understanding about the situation because they both shared a desire not to be touched. The characters though will get over that desire not to be touched especially when they are together.
So the bad guys are pretty evil men and some sick minded individuals. Though that is nothing new in these books. The bad guys all are pretty twisted with the business they have or activities they participate in. There was one villain in particular that I was very happy to read their end.
At the end of the book there was a quick story that was titled Last Gift which was about Nick and Daisy. It was very short but it gave another look at the couple and how they were doing. It was a good quick read.
I am reading Last Hope next which is the fifth book to the series. I saw on the list there is a fourth book titled Last Hit: Reloaded and I would read that by my library doesn’t have it, I am sure I will find it at one point. Until then I am reading the fifth book next.
Daniel was on a mission to find Regan. He will be shocked to find her a fighter and will become fascinated with the woman. He will do anything to protect Regan and at the same time find the men who took his sister.
Regan was living in a hellhole for the last two months and knew that no one was coming to get her. But Regan would not give up and let the bastards win. Though Regan will be rescued by a man who had been sent by Daisy, and she will fight to get back home.
Last Breath is the second book to the series Hitman by Jessica Clare and Jen Frederick. I liked the book. I think that since I just read the first one I knew what to expect and it flowed really well, even with all the horrible things that happened.
Well there was certainly a lot of bad things that happened in the book. The major was with what happened to Regan’s character. I really liked her character but I felt it was a little unbelievable that she would be raped repeatedly and then want to be with Daniel later on in the book. And that was only just a few days after meeting him. Although I did like her with Daniel because it gave her someone to be happy with again. What I liked was that Regan’s character wasn’t broken. She was on the verge of being broken but it had not happened. So then there is Daniel’s character. He was strong and skilled in warfare. I liked that he was easy going but he was very lethal at the same time. His story was interesting as he was looking for his sister who had also been taken.
So I was really happy that the authors gave a conclusion with Mike, Regan’s boyfriend before she was taken. I liked it because it gave closure to Regan.
I am continuing with the series and will be reading Last Kiss next. This one is with Naomi who was Daniel’s sister.
Carlin Reed was on the run. She hid herself from her family, work and friends all to stay away from a stalker ex-boyfriend. She stayed off the grid and landed in Wyoming where she knew Brad would never look for her. She finds salvation in Kat and Zeke to give her a way to live. It would be easier to move on if she didn’t feel things for her boss.
Zeke Decker needed someone to cook and clean at the ranch after his longtime housekeeper left. He knew that hiring Carlin wasn’t the best thing to do as he felt nothing but lust for her but he knew she was in trouble. Zeke would do his best to protect this woman and get her life back on track.
Running Wild is written by Linda Howard and Linda Jones, and this is the first book to the series Men from Battle Ridge. After putting down the book I wanted more. Sadly as this is a new series so no more books are available to read at the moment. I hope with the next book that Kat will be the next one to be written about as I really want to know more of her story.
I have only read one book from each of these authors but they are both strong writers who make compelling plots to read. You are drawn into the plot wanting to know the complete story as it was missing pieces. The puzzle is solved as you go through the plot. What I liked from the book was how believable Carlin actually was. I think all of the characters had seemed real throughout the book especially with Carlin being cautious in everything. I liked Zeke’s character as he looked to be and acted like a man who knew how to intimidate but he was alone in the world wanting someone to be with. Now both Jones and Howard know how to write sex into the plot and it was done well in the book. I liked that it didn’t overshadow Carlin’s problem in the book and what she had to deal with.
Men from Battle Ridge is a series that I can’t wait to read more on.
