Nate “Ghost” Weller was not expecting his best friends sister to show up asking for help, but Nate would not turn her away especially with all that she had been through. He will find that there is more going on and it linked to a zip drive that Grigg sent to his sister, Ali.
Ali Morgan needed help as she knows that she is being followed and now almost mugged. She will go to Nate who she had loved since seventeen years old. Ali will demand to be part of the investigation as it was dealing with understanding what had happened to her brother, Grigg.
Hell On Wheels is the first book to Julie Ann Walker’s series Black Knight Inc. This is a scorching book and I figure will be a scorching series. I have the first five books in the series. First off loved this book. I could not put it down. It had danger, a lot of sex appeal, raw emotions especially guilt at least on Ghosts side, and a compelling plot that I needed to read. I will say that I am reminded of Laura Kaye and her Hard Ink series which isn’t a bad thing. The two series are different though with their style of writing and what is happening in them but similar with these tough men. I will say that for me there is more danger in Walker’s story and I loved that because it makes the plot compelling to read.
So Nate or Ghost as he is called is a man of few words and when he says them he is not loud or really obnoxious. He has guilt that is consuming him because of what he did. He also has guilt plaguing him as he feels things towards Ali and he knows that he shouldn’t. Ali needs help from the man she could trust with her life. She is a brave person with all she had to deal with but it is almost comical as her flaw is a weak stomach and that will result in a mess at the most inopportune moments. What I liked about Ali was she was scared but could handle herself thanks to her brothers training which comes in handy.
The scene with the torture I was expecting it to be bad and had a feeling with what happened in that room especially to Grigg. It was horrifying and I thought Walker did a good job writing those pages and how Ghost was forever changed because of that.
Becky “Rebel” and Frank’s “Boss” story is next to read and I can’t wait to find out what will happen.
Tessa Sheridan is back home to Destiny as her interior designs did not work out. She will find an unlikely client who is the bad boy biker that just moved next door to her. Tessa feels the attraction but with her disease she doesn’t want anyone to see her when she is down.
Lucky Romo is back in his home town which he hasn’t set foot in for almost half his life. He is making a change as he got unexpected news about a son he fathered. Going back home was hard with all that had happened.
Whisper Falls is the third book to Destiny series by Toni Blake. I have skipped the second book because that book is not at my library but I have noticed that these books really can be read on their own. I do miss out on the introduction of Mike Romo and his story but he is certainly included in this book. I am interested in the disappearance of Anna Romo. She will be making an appearance in the sixth book I found out as I sneaked and read the summary. From what I have heard about her I am interested in her story with how she disappeared and what happened.
I liked this novel just as much as the first. It was a good story and hits the emotional target with both characters. You feel for Tessa and her disease, and how she was coping with it. I was happy that she found a champion in Lucky. Their romance was unlikely but it worked. Now Lucky was one that had drawn me in. You felt bad for him because once his sister was gone he did get pushed to the side. I understand why that would be something to push a kid into rebellion but Lucky goes further. He will join a biker gang and do things he wouldn’t be proud of during that time. I liked that he made it out and with his friend Duke.
The brothers relationship was strained as they were both stubborn, I think Mike was more stubborn that Lucky, but they were able to make it work. Of course it took most of the novel for that to happen and only when Mike figured out some facts about what happened after Anna disappeared. Now there is a villain in the book that is going after Lucky and its an unlikely one but it is logical once you know why they are doing this.
Holly Lane is the next book with Sue Ann which I am surprised at since it looked liked she had a perfect life with her husband. I guess I will find out very quickly as it is the next book I am reading.
Sophia is on a mission to find her Sire who has gone missing and trouble will not be far away as several vampires and their mates have been attacked or killed. Sophia will find help in Raphael’s group but will be stunned to find a man in the group she had left ten years ago.
Colin Murphy lives peacefully in the small town but now several attacks have been done to vampires and their mates. Colin will join the vampires to find out who is murdering them but he will be distracted as Sophia will be part of the group.
The fourth book of D B Reynolds Vampires in America series is Sophia. So when I started this book and met the character Sophia I wasn’t really liking her especially as she tried using her wiles on Raphael with Cyn by his side. As Raphael and Cyn are my favorite I don’t like anyone who threatens to break them up, but I figured as she is the main person in the book I would warm up to her character and did. Sophia in her own right is a strong character as she has a lot of depth to her but its hidden and secret from those around her. I loved that she had a past with the tough Colin Murphy. Colin is an ex Navy Seals and is hard as nails especially as he closed up his heart ten years ago when the woman he loved died. Lust was driving the two characters which made the book spicier with those two heating up the pages once they got over the shock of seeing each other again. Of course lust wasn’t the only driving force as love swept in or that it never left them.
Sophia to me was bloodier than Reynolds other books. I guess as the plot dealt with death it was to be expected, but Reynolds does a very good job at the description along with the bad guys. The group of men who were doing the killing were lethal and deceitful. She does especially good job at describing the tragedy that hits close to Raphael. It does not end fatal but certainly a close call which had my fingers tightening at the sides of the pages. Now Luicen’s character left me annoyed. He was a weak character to begin with and I was not unhappy with what happened at the end.
The fifth book to the series is going to be Duncan’s story which I can’t wait to read as he has been by Raphael’s side for more than two hundred years. It will be interesting to read where Reynolds will take Duncan’s story.
The way in which Lorie O’Clare describes Marc King bounty hunter you will want your own after you finish Get Lucky. She will drive you into overdrive with the steamy scenes and the intense way in which Marc and London succumb to each other. The high risk situation will leave each other in their arms only wanting more.
Marc King needed some down time and a month at a ski lodge sounded good. When Marc got a look at London who worked there it sounded even better. With only one glance Marc knew he wanted to be with her.
London Brooke was a good employee and followed the rules but when Marc comes into the lodge she wanted to throw them out the window and does. London opens up to him but she is hiding the one thing in her past which haunts her. When she finds out what Marc does it is almost ironic. Now trouble is knocking at London’s door literally as packages of her parents are being sent to her along with cryptic messages. This means trouble London knows without a doubt. She knows Marc will help her but will be surprised that he is in trouble with the same problem. Together they are going to help each other fight for the ones they love.
I really liked this story. The intense feelings and passion was not too over the top and kept the story flowing. I like how London is more than appears to be. The fact she has criminals for parents and Marc’s were cops/bounty hunters was priceless. A perfect Romeo and Juliet story.
Having Marc’s family in the business was a good side story and brings in a good sense of who Marc is and how protective he is of people he loves. I liked the suspense of these packages. The one thing that threw me was the mad scientist. It was a little strange, it worked but a little weird.
Get Lucky is the second book of the series Bounty Hunters.
