Adam Greyhawke had vowed to never marry again after he lost his wife and child. He never wanted to feel that pain again. When he sees Miss Katherine Wright he immediately wants her but will keep his distance, though he will be tempted to be near her.
Miss Katherine Wright has had many suitors but never did she want one like she wanted Adam. She will want him but she knew that he would not marry her. She tried to be indifferent but he brought out the passion inside of her.
Wedding Night with the Earl is the third book to the series The Heir’s Club of Scoundrels Trilogy by Amelia Grey. I really liked this story.
Adam’s character was rakish but he wasn’t a bad guy. I liked that he went after Katherine even after he found out that she had limp. Not all suitors would or if they did they were possibly after her inheritance. Adam wanted Katherine as she was. I liked that Adam had an inner struggle. He wanted Katherine but knew that he could not claim her because he would not marry her. He was not out to use her and walk away. Katherine’s character intrigued me. She had been injured long ago in a carriage accident which left her the only survivor. Despite the accident Katherine was a strong woman. She might not show it all the time but it was there under the surface. I liked that she was breaking out and trying to walk on her own without her cane which was due to Adam’s encouragement.
This is the last book to the trilogy and I have no doubt that I will come back to this author.
Riley Brown left the busy life of Chicago to a quiet town in Georgia. Riley missed being a food stylist but she needed to leave the city. She will find new friends and a new way to live. She will be torn when a new relationship becomes possible with a writer but she will take the jump.
Quinn Brannigan needed to finish his novel in peace and chose this quiet town. He never expected to be tempted by this woman who kept being a klutz around him.
Sweet Stuff is the second book to the Cupcake Club series from Donna Kauffman. This was another cute book from the series. First off you have the desserts still playing a factor in the story but then with the added lovable giant dog you can’t go wrong.
I instantly liked Riley as I thought she was written like a real person. When you got to know more about her story and what happened with her ex-fiancee you wanted to punch him hard, but the fact that she found happiness gave the book an extra sweet ending. Now Quinn is a mystery writer who you want to without a doubt cuddle up with as he is sweet and considerate especially when it comes to Riley. He even likes the big dog Brutus. It was cute that he kept being stealthy around Riley or she was just too energized to not notice her surrounding. Now their relationship starts off a little shaky but its nothing but fireworks when they accept each other fully. This is more for Riley who gives herself a chance to love again.
The next book is Babycakes which is the third book from the Cupcake Club series.
Faith Holland was dumped by her fiancee at the alter but not because of another woman. She is devastated that the man she loves will never truly love her back so she leaves. Three years later she is back to help out with her family only to come face to face with Levi Cooper who couldn’t keep quiet about her almost husband.
Levi Cooper was the local police chief of his hometown and three years ago helped stop a wedding that would leave two people unhappy for a life time. He will soon run into his best friends almost bride and will find that he might want to get to know Faith a little more but is weary to be around her still.
The Best Man is the first book of the series Blue Heron from Kristan Higgins. I fell in love with this book. It was mushy, full of emotion, heartwarming and heartbreaking all wrapped up into one story.
I have not read anything from Kristan Higgins before but I liked her detail of the characters as there was a lot of back story of Faith and Levi. You really got to know the characters well and why they act the way they did. Faith was someone you wanted to find that love she craved and for her to really move on to different techniques to finding an eligible man to date and love. It was cute how she deciphered the men but found out that it wasn’t full proof. Now Levi I wasn’t sure I wanted to like. All the time he was petty to Faith and as a character he was hard and stubborn. Of course thanks to the background you understand why he is so tough. I wanted him to loosen up earlier in the book but Higgins will find a way to break the shield he holds onto.
This story had ups and downs all over the place with Faith’s personal life, her family and especially with Levi, but a happy ending does come true.
For a first book to the series I drawn in and am looking forward to finding out more from this series but until then there are several other novels that don’t belong to a series of hers to read.
Allie Larkin is the newest author we read for our book club with her first book Stay. We were able to have her talk with us during Skype which was fun as it always gives us more insight into the book. Not all authors are always available so we were lucky to have the opportunity to get her to talk to us.
Savannah ‘Van’ Leone has loved one man for the last six years but he sees her only as a friend. It all comes crashing down when he marries her best friend. Feeling sorry for herself Van will find herself ordering a dog over the internet after one too many drinks. Things will start to look up from there as she finds a friendship with her dog Joe and a man coming into his life, but trouble will still be coming Van’s way as she has to learn to stand up for herself and see how things truly are in her life.
I have to say within the book there were a lot of characters that kept me saying no I don’t like their attitude but then they change or rather Van sees beyond her own problems and really look at the people who have been around her. Van will grow up in this process and get herself in order and not be saved by the knight in shinning armor even though Alex would be a good knight. So I did like that she changed her own path. I also loved the dog Joe. He was a wonderful addition to have and funny as he was bought online on a drunken night. I also liked that the romance was there but not overwhelming as it did not seem necessary until the end very which was wonderful because it gave us what we were looking for.
Overall this was one of those books that is the perfect summer read. Its a quick paced book with fun characters who were a little off but had some complexity to them. You are left with a happy ending which was nicely wrapped up in a bow. The ending was a little too perfect for Van but through all the trials she went through I was happy for her. Now as the romantic I loved that she found the happy ending she was searching for.
Grace Brooks is at a loss. Her hopes of finding a permanent job that her parents would be proud of is becoming unlikely and her money supply has dwindle to almost nothing. But then Grace gets a break with a job as a dog walker which is not what she expects especially as she starts to become the nanny of the dog owners son. Grace thanks her lucky stars at the job and being close to Dr. Josh Scott is no hardship.
Dr. Josh Scott has no time to breath let alone spend time with his son or sister with the amount of time his patients take. He will see Grace as a savior as she handles the chaos that is in his life. Both know they can’t get involved but Josh cannot get Grace out of his mind. He will stay away as much as he can but a man can only take so much.
Forever and a Day is the sixth book to the Lucky Harbor series. This is definitely a drama that Jill Shalvis writes but a drama done right. I have loved this series since the first book and have continue to do so. Shalvis writes these stories with real characters. The family dynamics feel like a real family going through those heartaches which makes you connect with those characters. The evil boyfriend to Josh’s sister even felt real as you wanted to smack him for his behavior as you know he is going to hurt Anna. But its not all about the family drama as Shalvis will write Grace and Josh’s scenes to be nothing but steamy as they finally get together.
As I concluded this book I saw this was the last one available but I have a feeling the Lucky Harbor series is far from done. Of course now comes the question is who is to be next?
