New York, Actually

Molly was an advice columnist who had a big following but she was a fraud as her relationships never worked. Then she met Daniel but she still knew that it would never last.

Daniel was a divorce lawyer who was good at his job. He was happy with his job and satisfied with his life then he saw Molly. He knew he wanted to get to know her and when he does he figures out she was what was missing from this life.

New York, Actually is the fourth book from the series From Manhattan with Love by Sarah Morgan. I really enjoyed this book. It started out a little slow for me but quickly picked up as I got to know Molly and Daniel.

Molly’s character was intriguing. She was adamant about not being good in relationships which was her own way of sabotaging any chance at happiness. I was intrigued with whatever she had been running from and I loved that Daniel helped her by showing she can love. I will say that I was a little disappointed with her ex who basically got his happy ending by destroying Molly though I can’t be too angry because in the end she was happy as well. Daniel’s character was a good man. He might have started out their meeting with a white lie but he did everything right. He was a solid presence in her life and was someone who did not run when things got tough.

I am looking forward to continuing with the series. There are two more that I need to read which are about the twins who are introduced in this book.

Suddenly One Summer

Suddenly One SummerVictoria Slade is trying to find Mr. Right but so far things haven’t been going right especially when she has a break-in. Victoria will have to move which is where she will meet Ford. She will instantly think him a player but as they work together she will find that was not the case.

Ford Dixon is trying to help his sister find out the guy she had slept with and he will get help from a neighbor. He will want the neighbor immediately but will find her difficult. Ford will do what he can to win over Victoria and help his sister.

Suddenly One Summer is a novel by Julie James. This is not part of a series but it does have characters from the series FBI/US Attorney. I thought this was a good book to read.

I haven’t read anything from James for a while but I will say that she is a good storyteller. I kind of wish she embellished on the scene with the break-in that happened in the beginning. I liked where that was going, though how she created Victoria to have a panic disorder after that felt very real which I liked. Someone who goes through a break-in would not go unaffected. I liked Victoria’s character, she was a little hard but being a divorce lawyer probably made her more jaded. Though I did like that she was able to help out Ford’s sister. Ford’s character was the laid back kind of guy and kind of a player but not a serious one. I wanted Ford to break down the barriers and really get to know Victoria which he will, it just takes a while.

I thought the part with the sister was sweet and I was glad that everything worked out for the best.

The Valentine

The ValentineBlair Hansen-Lowry was in love with her husband but insecurities were still present with Blair especially with Valentine’s Day tonight. She will want to do something with her husband but when his plane is delayed things will go from bad to worst.

Garrett Lowry wanted to get back to his wife for Valentine’s Day but luck was not on his side as his plane was delayed. He will fight hard to get to her for tonight especially as they had fought over the phone.

The Valentine is fourth book to the series The Wedding Pact by Denise Grover Swank. I loved this novella that continued Blair’s and Garrett’s story. Their story had been the most intense of the series with all the heartbreak that was between them and it had been the most compelling one to read. I liked that Swank continued their story, to show how their marriage was going, and it was anything but perfect. Though it was all them and to me that made the story fantastic to read.

I liked that Blair was softening up. She was still tough and insecure but she was in love and that showed. Of course Blair really is her own worst enemy, but I liked that Blair knew she overreacted right away. Garrett is the perfect husband. He loves Blair for who she is and he doesn’t want to change her. He does put his foot in the mouth but he always makes up for it.

There was a surprise at the end that had me cringing and hoping everything would come out fine. Thankfully that was the case because this couple had gone through so much. I wanted them to be happy and to be happy with each other.

I am really hoping for more on this series and hope that more will be written. I wouldn’t mind reading a story on Garrett’s sister or one on Blair’s assistant. So then I looked at the website and saw she had written the book Only You which is a start of another series that has Kevin (Meghan’s brother in the first book). I will definitely be checking out this book.
