Some Girls Lie

Some Girls LieJemima Jane “JJ” Ericson has been in love with Ethan for as long as she could remember. She knew that she could never have him that way which was why she remained his best friend. Though things will change when their ex’s start to cause trouble.

Ethan Weston lived his life for his daughter and when that livelihood was being threatened he knew to act quickly. He will find the solution with his best friend, though things will get quickly complicated when he starts to notice JJ as a woman.

Some Girls Lie is the fourth book to the series Outback Heat by Amy Andrews. Out of all the books I would have to say that this one was my favorite. I really liked JJ and Ethan’s story.

Ethan’s character was the work hard, driven man who was devoted to his daughter. You couldn’t fault that about his character. Though what you could find fault with the man was that he could not see who would be good for him. Ethan kept fighting his attraction to JJ once they slept together which was because he didn’t believe in love any more. Then there is JJ’s character. She was again a hard worker and loyal friend. She always tried to take the high road and protect those she loved. I liked that she was finally able to be with Ethan even if it was not on a permanent basis. Although there is one part in the book that will make you want to hit Ethan really hard and cheer JJ who finally expressed her feelings. What surprised me about JJ was her back story which had been about domestic abuse from her ex-husband. Well he will be back in the picture and up to no good.

Delia (Ethan’s ex and Connie’s mother) was a piece of work and she was making life difficult, which made it hard to like her. Things will change though and at last Delia will figure out what truly needs to change, her, otherwise she was going to loose her daughter forever.

Overall this was a fun and steamy series to read.

One Night with a Billionaire

One Night with a BillionaireKylie was a makeup artist and on her way to a great new job. The only problem happens when she meets a guy, Cade Archer. She will have a one night stand but will find that Cade will be following her. Kylie wants more but the problem was her new boss, Daphne, wants Cade as well.

Cade Archer had been in love with Daphne for years but he finally saw the light and knew she would never be that girl again. It will be then that Cade will meet another woman and will instantly want her. She was everything he had wanted but he just had to get her to believe him.

One Night with a Billionaire is Billionaire Boys Club sixth book by Jessica Clare. I really liked this book. I thought it was a good finish to the series especially the last scene of the book. It gave some humor and a place for these brothers and their significant others.

Alright now Cade’s character was always the good guy, the calm guy, and the dependable guy. I liked that he was all those things but it drove me nuts that he kept wanting Daphne. Though he wanted the Daphne that he knew years ago. I liked that he let himself let loose and tried to be happy. The other character is Kylie who has had her own troubled childhood where she had felt like a burden. She never wants to feel like that again which is why she is so independent. I liked that she tried to make sure that her relationship with Cade was secret to protect Daphne but it got annoying. I wanted her to be just happy with Cade and be accepted, not hide. But what was worse was how Daphne’s people just let her get away with anything. Daphne’s manager was the worst of them all.

Daphne, Daphne, Daphne. She was a character. I really disliked her to the point that is was really hoping that Cade wasn’t stupid to fall for her again. There were some times that you saw her as not a bad person but there were plenty more with times she was horrible. I will say this and I think Jessica Clare gave the right ending to Daphne’s story.

So that is it for the Billionaire Boys Club but I am looking for more books to read. One series I am going towards is Hitman.

Days of Rakes and Roses

Days of Rakes and RosesLady Lydia Rothermere loved one man, Simon, and thought she had gotten over him but when she sees him again ten years later all the feelings come back. The problem is that Lydia is already engaged.

Simon Metcalf has loved one woman for over ten years but was forced to leave her. He will be back thanks to her brother and will do everything he can to make sure she becomes his wife.

Days of Rakes and Roses is a novella, 1.5, in the series Sons of Sin by Anna Campbell. I really liked this novella. I thought it was a sweet love story.

Lydia’s character ten years ago had been a young woman in love but scared to go against her father. She grows up to be a demure woman and all the life was almost drained out of her because she was playing the good society miss. I liked that her brother dragged Simon back to shake things up and to make his sister happy. Simon’s character was a man who was in love but scared because if he pursued that love his family would be ruined, along with the girl. I liked that Campbell moved the story ten years later because the characters were more mature and the love that they felt was not just puppy love.

I am reading the fourth book next which is with Jamie Fairbrother.

All the Ways to Ruin a Rogue

All the ways to ruin a rogueLady Aurelia loved Max when she was nine years old but was shattered and brokenhearted at fifteen when she found him to be a rogue. Because of that night Aurelia made it her mission never to get along with Max. For year they bickered back and fourth but thing will start to escalate from heated arguments to heated embraces.

Max, Viscount Camden, had been friends with Lady Aurelia since she was a young child. He was astonished when she ruined his reputation some years later. After that he made sure that rumor was gotten rid of. He made it his mission to fight verbally with Aurelia whenever she was around otherwise he might do something he would regret, like taking her for his own.

All the Ways to Ruin a Rogue is the second book to the Debutante Files by Sophie Jordan. I really enjoyed this book. It was hard at times because of all the fighting. I thought that they should be adults and really talk about the problem, but that was never going to happen. I did like how Sophie Jordan wrote the bickering between the two. It seemed real. There are times in books when enemies go to lovers and its a little too unbelievable. I thought that she did a good job because when they became lovers all was not forgiven, at least yet.

Aurelia’s character acted like a child at times but I still liked her.  Aurelia is also an artist and she is gusty for leaving her drawings for others to find. I also liked that she finally was doing something more for herself in the book. She was not necessarily a wallflower but she didn’t really go against the grain often. Then there is Max. Max was a scoundrel and he was good at it. I didn’t always like Max because I felt he was throwing his life away. I was happy to have Max finally be with Aurelia because then you knew the scoundrel would slowly disappear.

As I said above the romance between them starts but doesn’t heal all things between them. That will need time and for both characters to learn to trust one another, not just lust after each other and it does happen.

So to me this sounds like the end of the series but one never knows if another book will be written.

What a Duke Dares

What a Duke DaresMiss Penelope Thorne has loved Camden Rothermere for all of her life but she knew that she could never marry him. She could never marry a man who did not love her though circumstances will change and she will find herself with the man she has always loved.

Duke of Sedgemoor, Camden Rothermere, wanted a wife that he would like but never love as he didn’t believe in love. He had proposed to Pen years ago and found himself rejected. Now nine years later he will find himself side by side with Pen as he has to rescue her.

What a Duke Dares is the third book to the series Sons of Sin Trilogy by Anna Campbell. I liked this book a lot, it was another great book from the author.

You got to know more about Camden who was a man of structure and wanted everything to be perfect. He doesn’t want another scandal. If he had chosen Pen there would have been scandal after scandal but with nine years of maturity they both have grown up. Well Pen is still outspoken and Camden is still very straight laced. I liked that Camden was seeing Pen in a different light and was thinking of seduction rather than pushing her away. This gave them another chance.

There was another story happening which was with Harry, Pen’s brother, and Sophie, Jamie Fairbrother’s sister. I thought they were a little immature but they were a couple who fell in love and struggled to find a way to be together.

I don’t have the fourth book available to read but I would definitely be interested in reading the story especially to know more about Jaime Fairbrother.

The Naked Marquis

The Naked MarquisCharles Draysmith has become the newest Marquis of Knightsdale something he never expected or wanted to be. He would do his duty and take the title along with finding a wife which the process he is not looking forward to. He will find his luck turning when he meets up with Emma Peterson once again.

Emma Peterson has taken over for caring for these girls temporarily as the governess. She will soon come face to face with her childhood crush and find that she still loves him. The only problem is he wants to marry her but for practical reasons not love.

I am brought back to this series Naked Nobility by Sally MacKenzie and finishing the series with The Naked Marquis. As the rest of these novels there is wit, charm, a little humor and characters that you liked. Charles was not looking for responsibility but took it. It was humorous as he pursue Emma in all the wrong ways. I did chuckle as well when Emma would let her temper loose which usually meant throwing things at Charles because he would say the wrong thing.

Overall I liked this book it was a good addition and fun to revisit with all the characters that have been talked about or had their own story which I read.

The Seduction of Elliot McBride

The Seduction of Elliot McBrideElliot McBride was there to stop a wedding but as the groom left Juliana there was no need. All he needed to do was take the grooms place. Elliot needed Juliana, would make her his and bring her back home to keep the demons away.

Juliana St. John has loved Elliot McBride, her childhood friend, forever. She never imagined she would marry him but at the alter she stood. She will find that the Elliot she knew no longer existed but that did not stop her from loving this one or trying to help.

The fifth book, The Seduction of Elliot McBride, from Jennifer Ashley’s series Highland Pleasures was very engaging. I think this is a series that all the books really can be read on their own, you miss the connection of family but Ashley writes the book so they are mentioned again.

I could not get enough of the characters of Elliot and Juliana, especially Elliot. The book might not have had the temperamental MacKenzie around the entire story but Elliot does have a similar style to those brothers. I think its because he kind of reminded me of Ian who was the first brother I read about and had me falling in love with the series. The interaction between Elliot and Ian was slightly comical as they were almost acted the same due to the treatment they received in the past. Due to that past Elliot is a very strong character with lots of flaws and pain that he is trying to hide and handle by himself. Juliana I thought was another strong character. She did not back down when she found out what was going on with Elliot. She fought harder to help save him.

There is danger that also lurks around in the book. Danger that is following close to Elliot but it is not from the obvious enemy that is given.

I want more from the series now that I have finished Elliot’s story. Daniel MacKenzie’s story is coming out in November who is Cameron’s son. Daniel has been in the series since the beginning and I can’t wait to read about him as he has grown up.
