Midnight Wrangler

Midnight WranglerRohn Lerner was lonely but the options of women were limited, then a woman from his past shows up. Rohn will do his best to get close to Bonnie but he will notice she was more closed off than she was in high school.

Bonnie Martin was back home after twenty five years to clear out her old house. Bonnie just wanted to do the work and go back to Arizona but then Rohn comes back into her life.

Midnight Wrangler is the second book to the series Midnight Cowboys by Cat Johnson. I liked the book. I thought it was a good addition to the series though it was a little slow at times.

Rohn’s character was a determined and hard working man but personally he was lonely and a little closed off. I liked that he opened up again when Bonnie came back into his life like he was in high school. Cat Johnson wrote in scenes that were with Rohn and Bonnie when they were back in high school, and I liked that it didn’t overwhelm the book with it being all about their past. Now Bonnie’s character was a woman who was still haunted by her past. That left her closed off and lonely. I liked that she was giving herself a chance with Rohn again but her past was always in the background. I will say that I was curious with what had happened. I was guessing through out the book. When the secret was reveled it wasn’t as big as I thought it would’ve been, and I thought it was a little rushed at the end. The secret was something that was going to hurt Rohn and he forgave really quickly. Although I did like that he forgave since it would give them a second chance at being happy.

Creed’s Honor

Creed's HonorConnor Creed is a hardworking rancher who is working on his uncle’s legacy. He will enjoy the work but when his estranged twin brother comes back home he will be angry. His thoughts though will be torn between his twin brother and a woman he was starting to have feelings for.

Tricia McCall was in Colorado to help sell her family’s property. She will find herself meeting up again with Connor. She will be torn as she was still in a relationship back in Seattle, although it was fading fast, but her feelings for Connor were strong.

Creed’s Honor is the second book to the series Creed Cowboy by Linda Lael Miller. I have read several books by her and found them heartwarming. This one is very much similar with the heartbreaking plot between the brothers and a promise of love between Connor and Tricia. I liked this story but I did feel like I was already in a story that was already being told. You can follow it along without any problem but there are times that I like to make sure I read a series from the beginning. I will have to find and read the first and third book to know all about this Creed family.

Now I am always one to love a love story and I thought that Connor and Tricia were sweet once they got around to admitting that they have feelings. So besides the love story there was intrigue that was with the twin brother, Brody. You disliked him for the smug way about him but I wondered if it was true. Well that thought really came about half way through the book. I wanted to believe in the brother as it felt there was something that was missing. Due to what you find out about Brody I really want to read the third book to know the entire story.

Texas Bride

Texas BrideMiranda Wentworth never thought she would be a mail ordered bride but it was needed to get out of the orphanage. She would make a better life for herself, her brothers and eventually her sisters. Miranda will learn that life is difficult in Texas and especially with a man like Jake Creed who was not the warmest man but things are not always what they seem.

Jake Creed needed a wife to take care of his child and his home. He was lucky with finding Miranda but she brought more than she advertised and he will find that his new wife was hiding more than she was letting on. Jake will find a way with her no matter what as they will have only each other to lean on.

Texas Bride is the first book to the series Mail-Order Brides from Joan Johnston. I have already read the second and third book to the series and liked them without a doubt.

Miranda was a strong willed girl and determined to rescue her family. It was sad that she could only save her brothers but as I have read about Hannah and Hetty, I know that they do have a happy ending even though it was a little hard to get to. She will make the best of the situation when going to Texas and settling in her life. Jake was a hard man who lost the woman he loved and will be conflicted as his new wife was making him fall in love with her. He does push away especially when he finds that things are not all that they seem to be with Miranda but they do get through their difficulties and some are a little more difficult than others.

I liked that the uncle was introduced to us in the book. He was towards the end of the story and he didn’t stay long thanks in big part because of Miranda. She understood all that her uncle wanted and she was not going to be manipulated into signing away her fortune.

I liked finding out more on the history of this feud between the family. Of course when you find out what Blackthorne does it does make sense that Jake is not Blackthorne’s favorite person. I wonder if Cricket, Jake’s mom, will ever find out the truth about her first husband. Since it did not happen in the second or third book I guess it should happen in the fourth book which should be the last book to the series. Or it might not happy at all. I don’t know when that one is coming out but I assume it will be in 2015 since each book of the series has a gap of a year in between them. I can’t wait to read Josie’s story but in the mean time I think I will be checking out more from Joan Johnston.

Scandal’s Bride

After reading the second one I wasn’t jumping up and down for joy to continue the series, but with any series I keep going even if it is to settle the idle curiosity of the Cynster cousins.

Richard Cynster (Scandal) is a bastard but never thought as one by his family. His mother had died right after he was born and was left on his fathers doorstep. Richard was taken in and loved. Now he is back to hear the Will of his mothers husband. Richard is surprised that anything is left to him and will be even more surprised at the stipulations of the reading. Richard will look upon the reading of the Will as an opportunity to get the woman that has him under a spell.

Catriona Hennessy loves her freedom and abides The Lady. She wants no man to tame her which is what the Will stipulates. She will be forced to marry the man if he says he will. Catriona is infuriated but she also must abide The Lady as Richard is the man who has been claimed to give her children. With conflicting dilemmas she will come to Richard but will still be against as she thinks he will be going back to London and she will never leave her home.

Scandal’s Bride was a breath of fresh air after the second book. Immediately I was brought into the story and thrilled to find out that Richard is Devil’s brother/half brother.

The plot line was comical with the stipulation that Richard and Catriona had to make in order to save the rest of the family. I liked that Richard did not become the all bearing type of man who wanted to take over her land. He actually left it up to her and waited until she truly trusted him. Catriona was full of fire but also understanding. She healed and soothed away injuries.

The villain was not in your face but you knew who it would be just not the reason why until the end.

The family is around more as well towards the end of the story which is fantastic as you get Devil back into the book.
