North of Need

North of NeedMegan Snow had survived her husbands death but two years after his passing she wasn’t ready to let go. Then she will find a man outside her cabin door in trouble. Megan will help him only to find out that Owen Winters was not a normal man.

Owen Winters was a God of Winter. He thrived in cold conditions. Now during one snow storm he will meet Megan Snow but he will not have a lot of time to be with her. As it gets warmer Owen will have to somehow convince Megan that they can be together, to love each other.

North of Need is the first book to the series Hearts of Anemoi by Laura Kaye. I really liked this book. It was a quick read that was full of sweet and steamy scenes between the two characters. I will have to say that this book did remind me of Frosty the Snowman but only a very little as Owen was made out of a snowman and comes to life but that is were the similarities pretty much stop. Frosty never turned in to a strong and powerful God of Winter.

Megan’s character was a woman who was grieving for her husband. She was a shell of the woman she used to be but that will change. I liked that she did not just jump right into being in love with Owen. He had to work hard to get her to feel again, but she did open up and start to live again. Owen’s character was a man who was experiencing things for the first time. Everything was new to him. I liked that he was so joyful, full of life, which was what helps heal Megan.

There was some definite steamy scenes and I will say the ending was perfect to the point of cheesy but I liked it nevertheless.

The Wrong Billionaire’s Bed

The Wrong Billionaire's BedAudrey Petty has loved Cade since she was young but he never saw her more than a sister. She hoped that spending time together would change that but she will have a distraction. The distraction is the playboy Reese whose goal was to annoy her. Audrey put up with his annoyance but when things started to get heated she will finally give into temptation.

The Wrong Billionaire’s Bed is the third book to the series Billionaire Boys Club by Jessica Clare. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

Audrey was very professional and strict with herself which I didn’t really mind though you wanted to at times shake her, so that she would wake up. I actually thought it was good that she was so responsible because it was needed. What she needed to learn though was when to walk away from her troubled sister. I have to say that when she got flirty with Reese I was cheering for them. I liked Cade but he was too much like Audrey. There was no real spark, now with Reese it was like an explosion of fire between them. With Reese being the playboy of the group you knew that things would get heated. I liked Reese. He sometimes went a little too far but then you are surprised by his action that shows you he is a good guy.

So the character of Daphne was annoying and sad at the same time. She will be in the last one book. I don’t know how I feel about that. I am sure that she could change but will she or will she continue to be selfish. My guess is continuing to be self destructive but I will see when I read the six book. Personally I don’t want Cade to be with Daphne because he would give into Daphne way to easily.

Well in order to get to the six book I will have to get through the fourth and fifth book. I will be reading the fourth book next.

Holly Lane

Holly LaneSue Ann Simpkins thought life was perfect with her husband and child but her world will turn upside down when her husband says he loves another woman. Sue Ann is devastated as Jeff was the only man she ever loved and now he was flaunting his new relationship and trying to get out of paying alimony. Sue Ann will fight to make sure that she will be able to keep her daughter and give her a good life but it will be hard to do. She will find help with her friends and an unexpected person Adam who will start to be more all thanks to a snowstorm.

Adam Becker was always looking forward to the holidays to spend time with his boys but they were gone to Aspen for a whole month. Adam becomes surly to those around him as he is disappointed for the holidays. He will show his rude behavior to Sue Ann but that will quickly turn to passion as they start sleeping with each other. As the relationship builds Adam wants more but knows that Sue Ann is not ready, he will do all that he can think of to get her trust.

Holly Lane is the fourth book to Toni Blake’s series Destiny. This was definitely a Christmas themed book and although Christmas time has come and gone it was still  a very sweet book to read.

I liked Sue Ann okay in the previous books but as you got to know her I liked her a lot more. She became stronger on her own even though she had help from friends and from Adam. Adam was a great dad and good friend expect when you get him angry as he was like a Scrooge on Christmas. Blake adds a little humor in with Adams dreams that showed him how bad he had been acting and what would happen if he continued to be like that which was very much like a Christmas Carol. It was fun to read even though it was a little sappy at parts.

Their relationship was explosive from the start as they were together in a cabin with a snowstorm and although it was a little fast it didn’t lead them down the road to a happy ending. The happy ending waits until the last couple of pages and it only comes around once trust is earned and they admit their feelings.

Sophie was a cute addition to the story and I loved her Christmas wish of wanting a  reindeer and she will be getting her Christmas wish and more. Now there are no real villains in these stories but I will have to say that Jeff, Sue Ann’s ex-husband, acted like a villain in the book. He was being a jerk about the alimony, flaunting his new relationship and not really caring how it looked. He even could take Sophie away. I am happy to say that he does change but it takes to the very end of the book.

Willow Springs is the next/last book I have from Toni Blake.

The Rogue Hunter

After getting into the series the Madison sisters I decided to try the ever growing series of the Argeneau Family. I have not tried them but know it is all about immortals or as we call them vampires. As a lover of supernatural I am definitely interested in how this series is written.

Samantha Willan is a lawyer who has worked her butt off to be where she is, but for two weeks she was taking off to be with her sisters at their family cottage. What Sam did not expect was their next door neighbors. She had a suspicion they were not part of a band but she had no idea who they could be.

Garrett Mortimer is not a lead singer of the band as his friend told these woman. No they are immortals or as the mortals call them is vampires. Mortimer just wants to do his job and find the rogue immortal but that will not be too easy when there is a hitch in his plans. Mortimer is going to find his lifemate in the form of Sam.

I started this series with the tenth book. After reading I found myself wanting to read more. The characters were well thought out and I liked the concept of lifemates and how the immortals were able to go into the sunlight and not burn, only they need more blood to maintain strength. So they are a little different from the classic idea of vampires.

Sam’s character was whimsical and someone you wanted to read more about. I liked how Sands kept the ending open as you know they will make an appearance later in the series.

Mortimer’s character was interesting as he did not like the idea of Sam as his lifemate but he soon changed his tune and wanted only her. He was dark and brooding like most immortals and he kept that way even as he found his lifemate but Sands gives him likability.

The plot of The Rogue Hunter was simple but very enjoyable. Since Sands kept it simple reading the novel was fun to do and left me wanting more from the series. After reading the book I found myself looking for the first one of the series as I want to know how Sands started this immortal series.

Breakfast in Bed

The two book series Breakfast in Bed are two shorter novels which are a delight to read for any romance reader. Sandra Brown creates these three friends and splits them up only to see how there lives change with a single action.

Breakfast in Bed

Sloane owns a bed and breakfast that is going down hill but she has to make it work especially in the off season. But now that is not her only worry as her best friend’s, Alicia Russell, fiance is coming to stay at the inn to finish his book. Carter and Sloane are instantly attracted but they know it is impossible until they give in. Love blossoms but guilt is strong as both are cheating their best friend. Neither knows how they can live without the other but they know they can’t stay together.

The book was touching to read and very steamy in Carter and Sloane’s relationship. You felt for both characters as how they could not end up together but the end will surprise the reader as a happy ending will come out for all three parties involved.

Send No Flowers

Alicia Russell has to boys to worry about and if that is not bad enough a storm is making her vacation with her boys impossible. That is until she ends up meeting their nearest neighbor in another cabin. Pierce Reynolds does not want to get involved, can not but he ends up becoming attached which makes everything harder. Neither wanted to become involved but it happens and there is a secret which will destroy Alicia that Pierce is hiding. But Alicia will know what to do as the time comes.

Reading the book right after the first was a nice transition because you felt for the widow Alicia and you wanted her to be happy. Pierce seemed like the guy but as you find out what is wrong your heart will drop. Sandra Brown keeps you in suspense until the very end which makes the ending that much more exciting.

Get A Clue by Jill Shalvis

Finding new authors is always an interesting process. You hope that one book will peak your interest. Get A Clue by Jill Shalvis certainly did. Her writing is fun, sexy, smart, wicked in a sense and just a lot of entertainment.

Breanne Mooreland was done with men. No more she wanted to shout. After her third engagement ended with her at the alter she did not want them. But finding a man in her honeymoon suite was an intriguing display of man.

Cooper Scott had to have time that is what they all said so he took time. Never did he expect to find a woman staring at him while he was in the shower.

Breanne and Cooper start off to an interesting start as they are stuck at the cabin with no way of leaving and to make things worse a man turns up dead. Cooper is off to work again while Breanne stays by his side. But who killed this man?

The characters in this story made the story. I love how they intertwined with the plot which was heated with sensual desire as murder and snow keeps everyone on edge. I think one of the best parts of the book is the humor which Jill Shalvis brings to the pages. You will laugh along with the tough cop and the feisty bride to be who was left at the alter and the rest of the staff which are hiding more than expected.

Get A Clue was actually a great romance and mystery that leaves you entertained from beginning to end.

Divorced, Desperate and Deceived by Christie Craig

The last book, Divorced, Desperate and Deceived gave a little surprise of the characters. You were waiting for what Kathy would have to go through but I wasn’t expecting for the truth to spill out so quickly.

Kathy Callahan is the last surviving member of the Divorced club but she wants to bring something in her life, sex and that will be in the form of her sexy plummer Stan Bradley. She resisted for two years and now she is going for it but Stan is not cooperating. Kathy takes matter into her hands and that is when the trouble starts. Stan will give Kathy a surprise that she will never forget.

This really was a great finish to the series. Christie Craig wraps up all the friends lives with happy endings.

Stan aka Luke was a blast to have in the series. He was the typical man with charm and desire but he came undone to help and protect Kathy at all cost.

I also loved how Craig unraveled each of their past as the story was told.

The thing I liked with this story is it was a surprise to find out about his background. And even at the end when all seemed okay there were still a few surprises that I didn’t think of which made the book fun to read till the end.

The series Divorced, Desperate is a quirky series to read that will make everyone believe in love again.
