Dirty Bastard

I am continuing the series, Roughneck Billionaires, and reading the third book Dirty Bastard by Jessica Clare, which was enjoyable.

Lexi is a struggling yoga instructor who doesn’t really like people and is very strange but likes it that way. When she meets Knox and his family she will be intrigued immediately by Knox. He alone was strange like her and she wanted to get to know him but was not sure she could let him in all the way into her life.

Knox is a billionaire along with his brothers. He is not the serious brother or the nice one. In a word he is cynical. He likes his pranks which is why he is instantly intrigued by Lexie. She is beyond sarcastic and he loves her strange behavior. She will be the first woman he actually wanted more, he just had to convince her of that.

In the second book you got to read little parts with Lexi and Knox but with their own book you really got to know the characters and they are both a piece of work. So Lexi is super sarcastic and that was shown in the second book but it is intense in the beginning of the book. At first it was a little much but I really came to love Lexi’s character and her sarcastic ways because she was more than that. Knox was a piece of work. He loved his brothers and he loved to torment them. He would steal and play pranks which was very juvenile but really worked out because it brought him closer to Lexi who was juvenile in her own ways.

The added twist with the stalker ex was interesting and it gave a little more danger in the mix.

I am waiting patiently for Gage’s story which I hope will be out soon!

Dirty Scoundrel

Clay Price has everything he could ever want but what kept him up at nights was the girl who betrayed him seven years ago. He made a plan to get Natalie Weston back and finally into his bed.

Natalie Weston has stopped living her life seven years ago when the love of her life walked away from her. Now he is back and Natalie will be shocked by what he is proposing.

Dirty Scoundrel is the second book to Jessica Clare’s series Roughneck Billionaires. I wondered about this story after I had read the summary. I did not want to read about Clay tricking Natalie into something that would end up hurting both of them. Luckily that was not the case, it started out like that but it turned into more when you got to know Clay’s character. I really enjoyed this story. Clay, like his brother Boone, is crude but there really is a sensitive side to him which comes out when he is around Natalie. She is the only girl he has ever loved. Natalie’s character is a woman who has been working herself to the bone and she keeps giving more. I liked that Natalie did not fall at Clay’s feet when he came back into her life with his ridicules contract.

The father was frustrating. He was a big deal back in Hollywood but now with his dementia he would forget many things and then go back into the past. It wasn’t like he was using his daughter but he did manipulate when he was having a good day. The father got what he wanted in the end which was good for Natalie as he was taken care of in the end.

This was a great addition to the series.

Dirty Money

Boone Price had made it rich along with his brothers thanks to oil, though he doesn’t get the respect that he needs. Boone knows what he needs, class, which he thinks will come from a classy woman. He knew the classy woman would have to be Ivy the moment he saw her.

Ivy Smithfield was a realtor but she was not thriving at her job especially as her bosses took the bigger clients. She will get a chance to make it big with a new client but that client will want more, he wanted her romantically.

Dirty Money is the first book in the series Roughneck Billionaires by Jessica Clare. After finishing the series Billionaire Boys Club and Billionaires & Bridesmaids I was bummed that there were no more billionaires I could read, then Jessica Clare writes this novel. I will have to say that this novel was very entertaining to read, and very different from the smooth billionaires in the other series. It looks like this series will have a story for each brother.

Boone’s character was what you would call trailer trash but then he gets rich. It appeared that being rich didn’t change things for Boone as he acted just the same. I liked that money didn’t change him. He was very brash with his words and very into sex with Ivy. He also did whatever he wanted. After reading about him in this story I wouldn’t  change him. Ivy’s character was also considered trailer trash but she was doing everything to change that image. I liked that Ivy fought for her new life, she was a strong woman and kept going. I didn’t like she was hiding who she was especially when Boone told her everything about him.

I can’t wait to read the next book in the series. I don’t know when it will come out but I do know that it will feature Clay thanks to an excerpt at the end of the book.

The Billionaire’s Favorite Mistake

The Billionaire's Favorite MistakeGreer has loved Asher since college and she was ready to make him notice her. Greer will get Asher to notice her but it was not how she thought it would be.

Asher was living in his own self misery and then he made a mistake with his best friend. Asher will be shocked by the feelings he starts to feel for Greer and will do all he could to make her understand he truly wants her.

The Billionaire’s Favorite Mistake is the fourth book to the series Billionaires and Bridemaids by Jessica Clare. I liked this book but I will say that the beginning felt rushed. I didn’t really get to connect with the characters until the middle of the story. Though once I did I liked the story line and wanted to see how Greer and Asher would get their happy ending.

I liked Greer’s character but I wanted her to stand up to those around her, like her father. A side note, her father is a horrible man and I hated that he learned nothing in the end. She stayed in the background. Though she was strong in her own way and she was pretty witty and stubborn when she was interacting with Asher. I liked that she made it difficult with Asher and didn’t just give in. She held a little of herself back. Asher’s character was a man who was loosing herself and he needed to change. I liked that when he looses Greer in his life he reevaluates what is important. Asher will go about things the wrong way but he was doing it to get Greer to forgive and give him another chance. I wanted that but also for Asher to grow up and get his life together.

I am reading Billionaire on the Loose next.

Dare to Love

Dare to LoveIan Dare is the big brother of his siblings and the owner of an NFL team. He was a player but when he sees Riley something will change. Instead of wanting all woman he will only want Riley but he doesn’t know if he can open his heart to her.

Riley Taylor loved her job but will find herself jobless that is until Ian hires her. She knows it could cause tension but she will soon find that she loves the job and loves being close to Ian. Though when her past comes back to haunt her there will be problems between her and Ian.

Dare to Love is the first book to the series Dare to Love by Carly Phillips. I really liked this story. I was swept into the story especially when you find out that Ian and his siblings have half siblings. Their father had a completely different family at the same time. I was drawn into this strange family dynamic.

The character of Ian was the strong older sibling of both sets of family. His heart was hardened because of his father and he liked control. I thought that Phillips wrote his character well with how he interacted with Riley and when she wrote the scene with Ian extending an olive branch to his half siblings my heart ached for him when he was rejected. So Riley’s character had her own troubled past but she survived and she had made something for herself. She is guarded and will only let those in she trust completely. I liked that she was able to let Ian in and let herself find someone to love. I also loved it when she stood up to Ian. She wasn’t a pushover which was her mother’s fatal trait.

Ian’s father pissed me off with him having another family at the same time. I had instantly disliked him. I started to like him more as the story went on but still thought what he did was pretty shitty. Though Riley’s father tops Ian’s by a long shot. He is a very bad man that makes the situation very difficult for Riley.

So the Dare to Love series has nine books to it. Each story will feature one of the siblings and I am looking forward to reading their stories. I am reading Dare to Desire next.

One Night with a Billionaire

One Night with a BillionaireKylie was a makeup artist and on her way to a great new job. The only problem happens when she meets a guy, Cade Archer. She will have a one night stand but will find that Cade will be following her. Kylie wants more but the problem was her new boss, Daphne, wants Cade as well.

Cade Archer had been in love with Daphne for years but he finally saw the light and knew she would never be that girl again. It will be then that Cade will meet another woman and will instantly want her. She was everything he had wanted but he just had to get her to believe him.

One Night with a Billionaire is Billionaire Boys Club sixth book by Jessica Clare. I really liked this book. I thought it was a good finish to the series especially the last scene of the book. It gave some humor and a place for these brothers and their significant others.

Alright now Cade’s character was always the good guy, the calm guy, and the dependable guy. I liked that he was all those things but it drove me nuts that he kept wanting Daphne. Though he wanted the Daphne that he knew years ago. I liked that he let himself let loose and tried to be happy. The other character is Kylie who has had her own troubled childhood where she had felt like a burden. She never wants to feel like that again which is why she is so independent. I liked that she tried to make sure that her relationship with Cade was secret to protect Daphne but it got annoying. I wanted her to be just happy with Cade and be accepted, not hide. But what was worse was how Daphne’s people just let her get away with anything. Daphne’s manager was the worst of them all.

Daphne, Daphne, Daphne. She was a character. I really disliked her to the point that is was really hoping that Cade wasn’t stupid to fall for her again. There were some times that you saw her as not a bad person but there were plenty more with times she was horrible. I will say this and I think Jessica Clare gave the right ending to Daphne’s story.

So that is it for the Billionaire Boys Club but I am looking for more books to read. One series I am going towards is Hitman.

Romancing the Billionaire

Romancing the BillionaireJonathan Lyons loved the adventure of finding a new site and discovering new items that had been lost but his life was never fully satisfying without the woman he loved. Jonathan lost the woman he loved ten years ago but now that she was back in his life he would not let go.

Violet DeWitt was closed off and comfortable in her job as a school teacher. She had wanted nothing to do with Jonathan or the wild goose chase her father would be sending them on, but as she was forced to go Violet went. She was fearful that she would fall right back into love with Jonathan, and with everyday they spent together she was in danger of loving him all over again.

Romancing the Billionaire is the fifth book to the series Billionaire Boys Club by Jessica Clare. I thought this was a great book and a good addiction to the series.

The character of Violet was hardened and closed off because of her past relationship. I wanted to shake Violet to let go a little and trust but the problem when she did that she was always hurt in the end. It takes an effort on Jonathan’s side to show her that she could trust again. Though I will say that it takes Jonathan some time to figure out what he truly needed to do in order to win back Violet. So Jonathan’s character was no villain and was a good man but he liked adventure. Though that life for Jonathan was lonely. I had wondered why Jonathan never even looked up Violet even under the circumstances he was told. I liked that the characters will be back together after ten years as it gave them time to grow up but those ten years left them lonely and disappointed in relationships.

Alright so the ending was yes very predictable because, hey, this is a romance novel, and I know with these types of books I will get that happy ending. But what I loved about the ending was that it was very sweet with the last clue. It gave closure, which I knew it would, and it explained everything. It was what Violet needed at the end.

Well I am moving on to the last book of the series with Cade as the last man. I am interested how Daphne will be. Will she be changed for the better or still self destructive? Once Night with a Billionaire is next.
