Clay Kincaid helped those who needed it, but he didn’t like being acknowledge for his good deed. He will find another woman to help but something about Samantha will have him wanting more.
Samantha Jamieson had enough of her controlling parents. She wanted a way out so she ran away from home hoping that she could experience life. She will get some help from Clay.
Dirty Sexy Saint is the first book to the series Dirty Sexy by Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde. I really enjoyed this first book to the series, it stayed true to its title. I had read some of Carly Phillips but I really fell in love with her writing when I read the Dare to Love series.
Clay’s character was certainly a saint when helping others but he was more a sinner when it came to women. Clay had a bad childhood but despite it all he wanted to tried to help those around him. I liked that he gave Samantha a chance even though he knew that she didn’t belong, which will in turn help her make a decision. Samantha’s character was a very privileged woman. She had everything she wanted except for freedom. I liked that she wanted a way out. She wanted to be her own person, not just a member of her family. She might not have excelled perfectly at the new job but she was excited to learn.
Her family were a bit much with wanting to keep her in that perfect life they had planned out for her. I did like that not all was lost for Samantha to have a relationship with her family.
Jemima Jane “JJ” Ericson has been in love with Ethan for as long as she could remember. She knew that she could never have him that way which was why she remained his best friend. Though things will change when their ex’s start to cause trouble.
Ethan Weston lived his life for his daughter and when that livelihood was being threatened he knew to act quickly. He will find the solution with his best friend, though things will get quickly complicated when he starts to notice JJ as a woman.
Some Girls Lie is the fourth book to the series Outback Heat by Amy Andrews. Out of all the books I would have to say that this one was my favorite. I really liked JJ and Ethan’s story.
Ethan’s character was the work hard, driven man who was devoted to his daughter. You couldn’t fault that about his character. Though what you could find fault with the man was that he could not see who would be good for him. Ethan kept fighting his attraction to JJ once they slept together which was because he didn’t believe in love any more. Then there is JJ’s character. She was again a hard worker and loyal friend. She always tried to take the high road and protect those she loved. I liked that she was finally able to be with Ethan even if it was not on a permanent basis. Although there is one part in the book that will make you want to hit Ethan really hard and cheer JJ who finally expressed her feelings. What surprised me about JJ was her back story which had been about domestic abuse from her ex-husband. Well he will be back in the picture and up to no good.
Delia (Ethan’s ex and Connie’s mother) was a piece of work and she was making life difficult, which made it hard to like her. Things will change though and at last Delia will figure out what truly needs to change, her, otherwise she was going to loose her daughter forever.
London Hughes was happy with her life. She surfed, tended bar, and hanged out with her roommate. Then things change when she meets Luke Sutter. They will have a one night stand followed by a couple more times but London will know it wouldn’t last because of Luke’s reputation and her trust in the opposite sex.
Wicked Sexy Liar is the fourth book to the series Wild Seasons by Christina Lauren. I really liked this book.
London’s character is a confident woman except when it is with men and relationships. She had been burned by her ex which left her doubting love. I liked that London was trying to live again and open her heart though it will take some time for that to happen. Luke’s character was a good guy but he very much was a player and he enjoyed it because he was in it for just sex. Though when you get to the deeper part of the Luke your heart will break for him. When he broke things off with Mia a little of him died then too. That was why I was happy to read that Luke was opening himself up for something more with London.
This is the last book of the series but there could always be more written. If another story is written I would like to see either Dylan, aka Not Joe, or Magot. Maybe one some story with them getting together.
Katrina was trying to figure out her new phone when she made a big mistake, she linked her bootybook app to her webpage. This mistake let everyone see how she judged the guys she had causal sex with. Katrina will quickly receive a lot of hate texts and calls from some of her ex’s but there was one who scored an almost perfect 10 that wanted to try again to get the perfect 10.
Perfect 10 is a novel by Erin McCarthy. I liked the book. It was cute and comical with the plot.
Katrina’s character seemed like a normal girl who was dating around but never finding that perfect guy. Although she did find the perfect guy in Drew but she was too scared and unsure what to do. She seemed a little frazzled but she gets it together in the end. Drew’s character, the almost perfect 10, was in all accounts a great guy. He was just a guy that wasn’t sure what to do when he had slept with his best friend. I liked that he will finally gets it together and pursues her like he should have done in the beginning. I liked how they had been friends to begin with and of course they were getting that second chance to try again.
Marissa Vanderson is a sheltered wealthy heiress that had a tragic past but she has had enough being protected. She wanted to live her life and experience things. She will enlist the help of a bartender, Dane Sinclair, but she will soon find out that there might be dangers out there that she wasn’t expecting.
Love Gone Wild is a novel by Michele Bardsley. This was a hard book to write a quick summary because there are many parts to it. For me I thought the story was humorous and wacky at times with the situation that comes up. At times the story was a little too silly for me but overall I liked it, just didn’t love it.
From how I wrote the summary it could be considered that Marissa was just a pampered heiress but she wasn’t allowed out of the protection of her parents because her brother had been kidnapped and her older sister killed all when she was a child. That part threw me when I started the book because the cover pretty much looks like a normal contemporary romance novel. Well there is certainly romance that Marissa tries to make happen between Dane and herself. Dane feels this romance but he doesn’t want to be with Marissa because she was a heiress like his ex-wife. That fight will only last so long for Dane.
Well Marissa has a list that she wants to cross off before her birthday which was a list her older sister had helped create. Dane is helping Marissa cross things off that list. Now that sounded fine but then the plot changes from Marissa to a serial killer and then to a US Marshall and another woman who is following Marissa. Needless to say the plot gets wacky as I said above. Though don’t worry because all these plots will interconnect in a surprising way.
Peper has been in love with her best friends brother, Hunter, since she was young. Her friends convinced her that in order to gain Hunter’s attention they suggest for her to gain more experience. That experience was to come in the form of a hot bartender. Pepper will have to keep her goal in mind and try hard not to fall for Reece.
Reece worked long hours at his bar to improve it and make something of it. He was not expecting to find a girl to walk into his bar and proposition him to teach her about foreplay. Reece will take the task upon himself but will find himself falling for the girl he was helping get another man.
Foreplay is the first book to the series Ivy Chronicles by Sophie Jordan. I have only read so far historical romances written by Sophie Jordan and have loved them. I wanted to like this contemporary romance because I like Sophie Jordan’s writing and this book did not disappoint me whatsoever. I really enjoyed this book. There is something about Jordan’s writing that just tells you a great story that has you flipping those pages from the beginning to the end. This story wasn’t all about sex or foreplay but that was the start of Pepper and Reece’s interaction, it grew so much from that point. There was heartache, trust issues, bad childhood backgrounds and finally love.
Pepper was a person who did not trust thanks to her background which was pretty shocking. You felt for Pepper but wanted to shake her as she was not going for the man that was the right guy. She had put in her head that Hunter was the ideal man for her but the feelings were not there, yet she was stubborn. I love the instant connection that Pepper and Reece have and it is not just sexual as they can talk and have a background they can understand. Reece’s character I loved. He was a guy doing his job and trying to take care of his family and of course he was the tattooed bad boy or at least that is how he appeared to be. A girl like Pepper was not supposed to come his way. I like his take charge attitude but he is not a demanding one as he lets Pepper make the choice.
I have the other two books of the series and will be reading Tease next.
Stephanie Grant was not used to selling herself or at least give the appearance of selling herself but she needed to. She needed to find her sister who had stopped calling after she let out her secret of becoming an escort. She will enlist the help of an ex-cop bartender to help find Tina.
Jake Broussard was an ex-cop who became a bartender when he lost his wife. Racked with guilt Jake keeps to himself but when he spots Stephanie in the club he is determined to help.
Wildest Dreams is a novel by Toni Blake. I have only tried the series Destiny by Toni Blake and have really liked it so I figured I would try another book of hers. I liked the book. It was a quick read and filled with some mystery and an atmosphere is very sexual especially as the night is filled with escorts.
Stephanie is a fish out of water in this world of escorts. She finds help with Jake who is attracted to her but can’t move on. I liked these two characters together but knew that until they found a way to move on they would never be able to find happiness together. Now between these two characters there is a lot of sexual tension that floats between them but when they find a way together they will sizzle. Though that sizzle might not last very long.
So as I said I liked the book as it gave a little mystery with where Tina was and who she was with. The person she is with is definitely a shady person but you don’t know how much until much later. There will be a twist that Blake writes which will wrap up everything for Jake to get closure towards the end giving him a chance at that happy ending with Stephanie.
Colleen O’Rourke had been in love only once in her life and he was back in town to say goodbye to his uncle who was dying. She did not want to see him knowing that she would fall back in love but that wasn’t a choice as he was keeping close to her.
Lucas Campbell was here to help his Uncle Joe and to say goodbye. He knew that seeing Colleen would stir up old feelings but he didn’t want to start anything. Staying away from her seemed impossible though in the small town and Lucas knew that with enough time by her side he would want her all over again.
Waiting On You is the third book to Blue Heron series by Kristan Higgins. Once again I really liked this book. Kristan Higgins is a writer that I want to come back for more.
So Colleen was a woman who was unlucky in love. She was a flirt and a very confident woman or so it appeared on the outside. She was fragile and in need of love. I liked that for Colleen does get a second chance at love even though it was a very bumpy ride. Lucas was a man of few words but was a good man who just wanted to have something of his own. Now I think that Lucas was a little on the weak side when he was in his twenties and didn’t fight for Colleen. He makes up for it but he is still hardheaded about how to show Colleen what he wants.
I thought the backgrounds of Colleen and Lucas were written well and placed thoughtfully in the book. They were heartwarming and heartbreaking as you got to know these characters.
Now I really did like these characters as they were dynamic and felt real with real problems, my problem was I was torn. I wanted the happy ending as the romance reader in me and I was thrilled with the ending, then the other side of me was kind of annoyed. I felt that Colleen gave in way too easily. Sure it was her personality but I was disappointed that she didn’t resist more as this was a man who didn’t say that he loved her for all four years of dating. But as I said the romantic in me was thrilled with the outcome because I wanted them to be happy.
I would really like more on this series as there are still characters out there that haven’t had their story told. The fourth book is out this month which I can’t wait to read. Though to keep myself occupied I will have to try one of Higgins many novels as getting the fourth book could take some time with people checking it out.
Stella Leon has had a rocky path and it wasn’t getting any better with her boss being punched out by a stranger who wants to talk to her. Stella will find out from him that her half sister wants to meet. Beau Junger was doing a favor for his friend’s fiance to find her half […]
Rowdy Yates had everything he needed in the bar but he could not get the bartender. He always asked but was rejected. Things change and soon she wouldn’t be saying no but Rowdy will find that Avery is hiding things.
Avery Mullins has wanted Rowdy since she saw him but she has taken a step back and denied him. Her life was too complicated to add another but soon she will find that will be unavoidable as her past catches up.
Getting Rowdy is the third book from the series Love Undercover by Lori Foster. So I had said before that I liked Rowdy and I still do but from the first scene in the book where he was with yet another woman, not Avery, it kept getting hard to warm up to him. You wanted him to stop messing around with other girls. He is a player through and through but it is nice when he turns all his attention to Avery. Avery I wanted to know more about her. You knew that she was running but from what or from who. Then clues start to show up and the danger is starting to be revealed. There is also the heat between her and Rowdy which does not extinguish anytime soon. There is non-stop attraction, desire and yes eventually sex that gets down right steamy but with Rowdy involved there was no doubt.
It was interesting to learn more and more about Rowdy and Avery’s past. It was not all laid out for you to know. Their background left the reader with a new understanding of their characters and Foster did a good job keeping them consistent.
The villain was pretty obvious from the start but there was a surprise villain that also took part. The motives were clear but it was pretty clear the other villain lost their mind. A happy ending does come into play with all three couples and now with the little boy Marcus who is in the group.
I had said that I was waiting for the book to come out thinking I was finishing the series. Now Dash will have his own story which I really can’t wait to read especially with Margaret who is not exactly the straight laced Lieutenant she displays. I am now wondering if Cannon will have his own story afterwards. I really liked his part with protecting Avery and being another tough guy who could hold his own. Well whatever the case I can’t wait to read the next book coming in March, Dash of Peril.
