Amber Hudson has been dating Noel for a while and she wants more, but she wants Noel to declare himself first. She had tried everything but nothing was working. Then a tragedy strikes a friend and Amber’s world will get turned upside down with a new addition to her family.
Noel Poet did not want children but he wanted Amber. He just wasn’t good at showing what he wanted. When Amber takes guardianship Noel will surprise himself by helping out. He will start to wonder if he could have it all.
A Buckhorn Baby is part of the Buckhorn Brothers series by Lori Foster. I really loved this sweet story. I had been waiting for Amber’s story and I was not disappointed.
Amber’s character is the matchmaker of the group but when her friend dies she becomes guardian of June. Amber quickly falls in love with the little girl but knows that she will lose Noel as he was adamant about not wanting children. I loved how Amber was willing to give up everything for this child. I also liked that there was a different side to Amber. With June she was not her perfect self, she was unorganized and tired. It was realistic for a new mother. Noel’s character was a good man and a firefighter. He was also against children because of his job. It was sweet how he was taken in my June. She hung on to him and did not let go. Noel’s life would be incomplete without Amber and June in his life. The ending to this story was very sweet and very true to this Buckhorn Brothers series.
Now is this series done or are we going to get more? There are still Gabe’s daughters who have not gotten their story. Only time will tell.
Justice Wallington was a hired bodyguard and was not looking forward to protecting a spoiled rich brat. Though when Justice meets Fallon he will discover that she is anything but spoiled or a brat. He will do whatever he can to let Fallon spread her wings but keep a very close eye on her especially when someone was after her.
Fallon Wade had been sheltered after a tragedy but she was ready to stretch her wings. She would get that chance with Justice at her side but quickly there will be a threat that would put her in danger.
Hard Justice is the second book to the series Body Armor by Lori Foster. I really liked this book. I thought it was very entertaining and I felt the connection I had been missing from the first book. It might have been fast paced but I was drawn in right away. I finished it easily in a few hours.
Justice’s character was intimidating to those around him but he was a softy especially when it came to Fallon. He was kind and sweet to her but if anyone looked at her wrongly (namely a guy) he would give them a glare that would send the men running. Justice was sort of adorable in the book. Every woman should have a Justice in their lives. Fallon’s character was quiet but she wanted a chance to live her life. She wanted to experience everything she had been hidden away from. I liked Fallon. At first she almost seemed childlike but that was not the case. She was mischievous and wanted to do more with her life.
The conflict was intriguing. First off something had happened to Fallon to make her family very protective. So right away I was trying to guess but my guesses was not correct. Then there were incidents that were happening around Justice and Fallon. Someone was out to get them which was the main mystery to this novel. The mystery was different but it definitely kept me invested in the story.
Close Contact is the third novel which is coming out in December 2017.
Leese Phelp had changed his life when he became a bodyguard. Though with his new assignment he will find it difficult to keep his mind on track and not focused on Cat. But as her enemy’s approach them he will make sure to keep Cat safe, whatever the cost.
Catalina “Cat” Nicholson has been looking over her shoulder for a while but she will be getting some help with her own bodyguard. Cat will be grateful for the help but she will not want Leese to be injured because of the men who were after her.
Under Pressure is the first book to the series Body Armor by Lori Foster. So I had been waiting and waiting for this book. I love the two series, SBC Fighters and Ultimate, which had the main characters as professional fighters. Leese was first introduced in the Ultimate series. Now, when I finished the book I certainly liked it but didn’t love it. Lori Foster can write but this time the book just wasn’t my favorite. I really think it was just all happening too fast. I couldn’t feel that solid connection between Leese and Cat even though I was still routing for them.
Leese’s character in the other series was not a great guy, but he was certainly no villain. In this one he was a better man with the job change. With Leese I wanted to know more about him, like his past. We only got a little of it. Cat’s character was a girl who was on the run. She had been in the wrong place at the wrong time. I liked her character but again wanted more about her life. Though I think the mystery of what she had heard kept the intrigue.
I will still be going on with the series as I want to read more about the fighters turned bodyguards.
Honor’s life was complicated and did not have time for any attachments. She will find that attachments will come quickly when her life will be invaded by helpful neighbors. Though the only one that really got under her skin was Jason.
Jason will meet his new neighbor and instantly will want her. Though as he gets to know her a protective side will emerge and Jason will find himself protecting her, at least once she lets him in.
Don’t Tempt Me is the latest novel by Lori Foster. The last one that I read was for me good but not my favorite. Don’t Tempt Me was a novel I got into right away. There was enough mystery to the story with Honor that lead to heartbreak but it wasn’t overplayed. Also, the romance was built up, they didn’t just jump into sleeping together within the first chapter.
Honor’s character was a woman who had been put through a lot in the past two years. She was exhausted but was determined to do everything she needed. I liked that Honor was independent and she did not just give into Jason’s help. Jason’s character was a man who did his work and helped his family. He was someone who did what they could for someone in trouble. Pretty much Jason was the perfect man, but it wasn’t so perfect that got annoying. I will say that Jason had alpha tendency’s, but to be fair it seemed all the guys in the story had that same trait.
So Honor’s extended family was pretty horrible. They were greedy and very insulting when it came to Honor. Her great aunt confused me. She was helping, at least that is what it seemed, but she was going about it a strange way. I liked that Jason and her neighbor and friend wanted to help. They stood by her so Honor would not feel alone anymore. Though Honor was not weak, she showed her strength at the right time.
There was a side story with Sullivan (one of Honor’s neighbors) and Lexie (Honor’s best friend). I liked their story but it definitely could have used more detail to really get to know the characters. My main focus was on Honor and Jason and how their story was being told.
Adam Sommerville was not looking for love, he had been happy with his bachelor status. He liked dating but he will start to look towards Isabella, the librarian, and wonder if he wanted more with her.
Isabella Presley had wanted Adam for years but she knew that she never had a chance with him. Then she takes a chance to ask him advice on getting men and she will find his whole attention on her.
A Buckhorn Bachelor is the eighth book of the series Buckhorn Brothers by Lori Foster. I really liked reading this novella. It has been fun reading about the next generation, and of course there was the occasional appearance of an original brother.
Adam was a player but he wasn’t one who went about it the wrong way. He was a kind man who wasn’t ready for commitment, though he was great with kids. I liked that he took a chance and got to know Isabella. Isabella was a character with her southern drawl and outrageous lust for Adam. She was playing a game due to Amber’s insistence but I did like that she would stand up and do what she wanted. She knew her own mind but she had to take a chance.
Now there is a character, Amber, who had been playing matchmaker. I like Amber but I felt a little annoyed by her matchmaking skills. I think she was a little too pushy with Adam and Isabella. Though I am interested in reading Amber’s story who will be with Noel. It will be interesting to read as I would bet Noel will turn the tables on Amber and her matchmaking skills.
Chris was the go to guy when it came to running the operation but with his personal life he was at a loss. He was especially confused when he wanted Matt but he knew that he could not share what he does for a living.
What Chris Wants is the last story to the series Edge of Honor by Lori Foster. This story was a novella and I had been looking forward to this story. I have to say it wasn’t my favorite. I think there was promise of something there but Lori Foster did not deliver on this one.
I found that the characters were not well developed. I wanted more from them, for them to have a relationship but it definitely didn’t play out that way.
One thing I liked was that Foster lets the reader know that the other couples from the books were all happy in their relationships.
Natalie loved having friends with benefits with her neighbor but soon it will change. Jett will start to want more than just sex. Natalie is not sure she wants that but she didn’t want Jett out of her life.
Ready, Set, Jett is the prologue in the series Men Who Walk the Edge of Honor by Lori Foster. This was a quick and fun story. It was less on the danger side than the other books in the series. Though there was some danger that was happening, the characters just didn’t know it was going on.
Natalie’s character did not want to get close to anyone. She had trust issues and she kept her secrets close to her. She liked Jett because it was an easy relationship, she was just using Jett for sex. I liked that Natalie was confident to do that. Though I was also happy that Natalie was discovering that she had true feelings for Jett. With Jett’s character he was a man on a mission. He wanted Natalie, but he wanted her more than friends with benefits. I liked that Jett was a take charge kind of man but he was also generous.
So I have read the rest of the series with the exception of the last book which is a novella. I will be reading that next.
