Victoria Slade is trying to find Mr. Right but so far things haven’t been going right especially when she has a break-in. Victoria will have to move which is where she will meet Ford. She will instantly think him a player but as they work together she will find that was not the case.
Ford Dixon is trying to help his sister find out the guy she had slept with and he will get help from a neighbor. He will want the neighbor immediately but will find her difficult. Ford will do what he can to win over Victoria and help his sister.
Suddenly One Summer is a novel by Julie James. This is not part of a series but it does have characters from the series FBI/US Attorney. I thought this was a good book to read.
I haven’t read anything from James for a while but I will say that she is a good storyteller. I kind of wish she embellished on the scene with the break-in that happened in the beginning. I liked where that was going, though how she created Victoria to have a panic disorder after that felt very real which I liked. Someone who goes through a break-in would not go unaffected. I liked Victoria’s character, she was a little hard but being a divorce lawyer probably made her more jaded. Though I did like that she was able to help out Ford’s sister. Ford’s character was the laid back kind of guy and kind of a player but not a serious one. I wanted Ford to break down the barriers and really get to know Victoria which he will, it just takes a while.
I thought the part with the sister was sweet and I was glad that everything worked out for the best.
Taylor Donovan was an up and coming lawyer trying to make partner when she will be given a task that will be her biggest challenge yet, babysitting a movie star. Helping out Jason Andrews, the sexiest man alive, was not something she wanted to do but her firm committed her to the job. She will help him prepare for his next film that is with lawyers and will hope that she doesn’t fall for him.
Jason Andrews was an actor who could get any job he wanted and any woman he wanted. Nobody ever said no to him that is until he met Taylor Donovan who was not falling for his charm. He wanted her and would do what he could to get her but will find out that it will not be easy and he might just have to follow his heart.
Just the Sexiest Man Alive is a novel by Julie James. I was thoroughly entertained by this book. I like Julie James style and how she develops her characters. Taylor was someone I liked a lot. She hardened herself when it came to love thanks to her past boyfriend/fiance who cheated on her. She will get a whirlwind of actors wanting her which was something different but she doesn’t really fall for either that is until she gets to know more about Jason. Jason was a spoiled actor who thought he could get anything. Taylor was the only person who didn’t throw herself at him and that made her to be a challenge. I did like Jason even though he was an idiot at times especially when it came to trying to get Taylor but he does grow up and show that he is a good man.
Okay who I didn’t like was Scott Casey who wanted nothing but fame and to steal what Jason had. He only wanted Taylor because she was hot and Jason wanted her. He was kind of an ass especially when it came to the paparazzi and getting a picture with Taylor. You wanted to shake Taylor and yell why are you trusting him but at least it doesn’t last long, up to only one date.
The ending with Jason and Taylor was perfect. I laughed at those last pages with how they were together but it also sizzled as they finally got together and made it work leaving us with the perfect happy ending.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Cade Morgan had been a prosecutor before and a rising football star before that, but right now he was working with the FBI to bring down a senator. Cade will enlist the help of Brooke Parker and with her help they will be successful. He will keep the work relationship going with Brooke but bring it to a personal causal level. Things will get complicated when he starts to have real feelings for Brooke and when he meets his half brother he never knew.
Brooke Parker was a good businesswoman and knew when it would be good to play ball especially with the Assistant U.S. Attorney and two FBI agent staring back at her. Brooke would do them the favor which would bring her closer with interacting with Cade Morgan. She finds herself wanting more and hoping that this one would work instead of failing like her other relationships.
Love Irresistibly is the fourth book from the series FBI/US Attorney by Julie James. After reading It Happened One Wedding not too long ago I wanted more from Julie James and now I picked up this one and Just the Sexiest Man Alive. I liked this book a lot.
Cade’s character was like a playboy at times and had some humor laced through the book. There was a serious side to the story. One being the investigation and the second with Cade’s past. How his father abandoned him and how his half brother showed up. There is a secret that came out of the end and you wanted to cry for Cade but with how James leaves the story there is hope and a chance for peace between certain characters. I liked Brooke as well. She was a savvy business woman and knew what she wanted and knew what was wrong with her in regards to relationships. When Cade and Brooke finally get together it sizzles but it is also comforting for each other. They are both in the same fields so they know the work schedule but they make it work and into something more. Of course things will get intense and things will get complicated making them weary of each other but James will not disappoint us and give a happy ending.
I will be reading Just the Sexiest Man Alive next.
Sidney Sinclair was thinking that it was hopeless to find Mr. Right and she will admit that her recent break up from her fiance has harden her heart. She will soon start to look for Mr. Right Now who just might be her sisters soon to be brother in law.
Special Agent Vaughn Roberts liked his job and liked his freedom especially with woman. He will instantly want Sidney when he sees her but the feeling isn’t mutual which created an allure. Vaughn will pursue this woman which wouldn’t be hard as they were going to be together for the next three months helping to plan a wedding.
It Happened One Wedding is the fifth book to the series FBI/Us Attorney by Julie James. I haven’t read anything from Julie James for a while but I remember reading her some of her books. I looked back from my earlier posts and saw it was from four years ago. I think there was such a big gap because she only had several books out available to read. Still there are not tons of books as I only need to read four books of hers but I am looking forward to reading them as with this story was something that pulled me into the story and wouldn’t let go until the very end.
Needless to say I really loved this book. There was a simplicity of the plot as it surrounded a wedding being planned and of course an undercover story happening on Vaughn’s end. I fell in love with these characters. For one reason they seemed like real people with real problems. Second is that their relationship started out with annoyance but with interaction they were able to like each other more. I liked that Sidney was walking on the wild side and not thinking about settling down with Vaughn as she knew that he would break her heart. I was okay with her going on dates with other men because I figured she would finally understand that she really had fallen for Vaughn. The same thing could be said with Vaughn, he understood his feelings as he heard about her bad dates and the one that had potential.
I am going to get back to this series soon. I wouldn’t mind any of the books to read but I do want to read Cade’s story who was in this book as one of Vaughn’s friends. I will have to see what is available for me to pick up.
Julie James is definitely an author to look out for. Her plot and characters are witty, determined, funny, and believe in sabotage and deceiving but with the best attentions.
“Payton Kendall and J.D. Jameson are lawyers who know the meaning of objection. A feminist to the bone, Payton has fought hard to succeed in a profession dominated by men. Born wealthy, privileged, and cocky, J.D. has fought hard to ignore her. Face-to-face, they’re perfectly civil. They have to be. For eight years they have kept a safe distance and tolerated each other as coworkers for one reason only: to make partner at the firm.
But all bets are off when they’re asked to join forces on a major case. Though apprehensive at first, they begin to appreciate each other’s dedication to the law-and the sparks between them quickly turn into attraction. But the increasingly hot connection does not last them will be named partner. Now it’s an all-out war. And the battle between the sexes is bound to make these lawyers hot under the collar…”
I loved the sexual tension that Payton and J.D. had between the two. Both of them had it from the very beginning but wouldn’t acknowledge it. So now as the tension of the partnership rises the tension is even worse and finally the two start working towards a similar goal. But their sexual tension is not the only thing that is there. Each of them have their own prejudices against each other with how they grew up but are they really so different? The two will find they will be able to relate to each other as they grow closer through the case.
I loved this book. It was a fast pace modern romance which kept you turning the pages. The book has its up and downs, and some surprising results as the end of the book concludes. “Practice Makes Perfect” gives an ending you are happy for.
A recently new author, Julie James, has written three books so far. From reading one of her books I was immediately fascinated by her writing and the characters that have been woven into her plot. The third book she has written “Something About You”. I liked the cover and once I read the back of the book I was hooked.
“Of all the hotel rooms rented by all the adulterous politicians in Chicago, female Assistant U.S. Attorney Cameron Lynde had to choose the one next to 1308, where some hot-and-heavy lovemaking ends with a death. And of all the FBI agents in Illinois, it had to be Special Agent Jack Pallas who gets assigned to this high-profile homicide. The same Jack Pallas who still blames Cameron for a botched crackdown three years ago, and for nearly ruining his career…
Work with Cameron Lynde? Are they kidding? Maybe, Jack thinks, this is some kind of welcome-back prank after his stint away of Chicago. But it is no joke: the pair is going to have to put their rocky past behind them and focus on the case at hand. That is, if they can cut back on the razor-sharp jibes and smother the flame of their sizzling-hot sexual tension…”
Through Julie James writing I understood perfectly the feelings and thoughts that were being described by the characters. In the beginning I loved how the book started with Cameron awakened by a noisy couple making love, very loudly. Her mood described by Julie James set the book perfectly. It was humorous at first but then tragedy hit and the plot thickened.
While reading the book I understood the instant dislike of the characters and immediately sensed the anguish. Of course all of these feelings are on false facts. The tough FBI agent Jack Pallas has understood that Cameron Lynde is to blame for his failure in the case and his transfer but is she really? Cameron knows what he thinks and cannot tell any differently. She was told to take the blame but she helped Jack’s case the best she could. Of course Jack does not know and Cameron cannot tell him due to the fact that someone might find out and trouble could brew from these facts. Trouble that could be with killing or enhance their sexual desire for each other.
This romance book is worth reading. Makes you wish for your own FBI agent watching out for you.
