Merry Christmas, Baby

Merry Christmas, BabyChloe was always considered the wild child but then was tamed, to a point, when she found Sawyer and they married. Now years later Chloe finds herself pregnant. She is scared that she and Sawyer are not equipped to be parents and that they were drifting apart. It will take a Christmas party to bring the couple back together.

Merry Christmas, Baby is a novella to the series Lucky Harbor by Jill Shalvis which I loved. Now I had read that this is the last story from the series, which I had wondered about. With the previous book I had thought Shalvis was wrapping up especially when she wrote that Lucille was retiring from her matchmaking.

Well I was happy that she wrote this novella to give a final of the entire series. The novella was fantastic. It was sweet, short and to the point, and it felt real. When Chloe and Sawyer ended their story in the third book they were getting their happy ending. Shalvis gives us a look into their lives and it was not perfect, which I liked since then it felt more real. No couple is extremely happy and there are bumps in the road. Chloe and Sawyer have those problems and it doesn’t help they are both stubborn. Though I liked how Sawyer who was not great at showing his emotion got sentimental. He truly loved Chloe and your heart melts.

So with finishing off this novella I have completed the series Lucky Harbor. The great thing is that Shalvis has plenty more series to read which I am sure that I will be exploring in the near future.

One in a Million

One in a MillionCallie was a wedding planner who moved back home to help her grandmother. She will be shocked to find Tanner, her high school crush, living there. She will be even more shocked when he finds her attractive.

Tanner was an ex-Navy Seal and businessman. He was also a father but had very litter interaction with his son, though not because he didn’t want to. He will get a chance to have that relationship but it will be trying. He be will tested by his sons attitude but also by Callie who moved back to town.

One in a Million is the twelfth book in Jill Shalvis’s Lucky Harbor series. I loved this book. I started the book early in the morning and since I had to work I had to put it down and actually work. Though on my lunch break I was back reading it. I finished the book later into the evening and when I go to the last page I was thrilled. The characters of Callie and Tanner were flawed but so perfect for each other, if they gave each other a chance.

I loved the fact that Callie was the granddaughter of Lucille. Lucille has been a fun character throughout the series. She has been a little pushy at times but you can’t help but like her character. Now Troy who is Tanner’s son was a great character. You needed to have Troy in the book because it gave some more depth to Tanner’s character and Troy’s character was well written.

The last book which I have to read is the 12.5 book which is actually a novella that is revisiting with Chloe and Sam.

He’s So Fine

He's So FineOlivia Bentley saw a man she thought was drowning and ran to save him. Olivia didn’t realize that the man was not drowning and he in turns saves her. She will find herself starting to have feelings for this man with every moment they spend together but she is hiding a part of her.

Cole Donovan had been betrayed by the people he loved. With Olivia he found something again and was scared but wanted to be with her. Cole though will learn that Olivia was hiding herself and things will change for him.

He’s So Fine is the eleventh book to the series Lucy Harbor by Jill Shalvis. With Shalvis you can fall right into her books which I love. The characters are believable, a little whacky and full of emotions. I really loved this latest addition to the series.

Olivia was living a lie in Lucky Harbor but it was to start a new life. Her lie is not anything horrible, she is a child star. You will feel for Olivia but cheer her on as she is finding her real self and I liked the real Olivia. She was a timid woman, had trust issues, wanted to love and to live life. I thought she was a believable character. Though you knew that her past would no doubt come out and ruin what she had. So yes it was predictable though you can’t help but love it. Now Cole was a strong man who was hurt and betrayed. He had some definite trust issues when getting into a relationship. I liked that he went all in with Olivia. He trusted her and opened up. I wished that she did the same as there were so many moments but that is how the story goes.

Alright now there were plenty of characters that have been introduced like Cole’s friends but his ex was a piece of work. I really didn’t like her. Her little speech with Cole was actually annoying and made me dislike her even more. She was too smug even though I know that she was just letting Cole know what had went wrong. I liked Cole how he was and didn’t think he really needed to change too much. Well he does change a little but he will be very much the same man, though now will be a man in love with a woman.

I am reading the twelfth book next.

It’s in His Kiss

It's In His KissBecca Thorpe needed a change of pace from her life. She found a small town and was determined to make it work. She will find a routine but it will be interrupted when the man she lusted after wanted her back. It will get complicated when he becomes her boss and her past catches up to her.

Sam Brody was a boatbuilder and good at his job but needed help with the everyday business. He will fight Becca from helping since as her boss he would not be able to be with her the way he wanted.

It’s in His Kiss is the tenth book from Jill Shalvis. I thought this was another great book from the series Lucky Harbor which is a series I can always count on for a heartwarming story. I haven’t read anything from Shalvis since last July. With her I wait until I can read several of her books in a row since I find her writing enjoyable, which is what I am doing now. I have the 10th, 11th, 12th and 12.5 next to read.

So Becca is a gifted piano player but left due to panic attacks when she would play, though that is only one reason she had to get away from her old life. You felt for Becca because even before she shared her past you knew it was something horrible that happened to her. Now even though she had to endure a lot in her life she was a very optimistic person. Because of her cheerful disposition you like Becca right away and hope that she gets her happy ending with Sam who was in serious need of someone to love him. Sam had a hard life with his dad and still was having a hard one which made life hard to get close to someone. He does get close to Becca and it really isn’t a struggle for him but he does put up his own barriers that block his own happiness. Don’t worry Shalvis will make sure the couple find that happy ending even through the obstacles.

I am continuing the series with the eleventh book.

Merry and Bright

Ms. Humbug

Cami has always been the organized one which has made her obsessive about it. She will be however taking a walk on the wild side with her boss, Matt, who tempts to break her need to a perfect organized life at every moment of the day. But first they will have to find out who was the leak in their office.

Merry and Bright is a collection of short stories by Jill Shalvis. Reading books by this author you know that there will be some humor and compassion when it comes to these characters and it was true for these stories. All of these stories centered around the Christmas season which brought out the wishes for finding someone to love. Now even though it was the Christmas season there was still danger that drifted through these stories. The danger was not bombs exploding but harmless stalkers, Colorado’s wildlife and a half kind of crazy girl. For me I thought the danger was a little silly at times but it gave the hero and heroine something to survive and to bring them together.

Overall I thought these were cute and fun stories.

Christmas in Lucky Harbor

Christmas in Lucky Harbor (Lucky Harbor, #1-#2)Kissing Santa Claus

Sandy was heartbroken still after several months of Logan leaving. She was not expecting him to be gone so long but will be shocked when he shows up and she is in a Santa suite. She will not welcome him with open arms but Logan will charm her and her defenses will start to crumple. Logan will be determined to not let Sandy go this time.

Under The Mistletoe

Mia was floating on a cloud as life was good. She was doing well in life, was loved by both her parents and was in love with her boyfriend, Nick. She was also excited about going away for her Aunt’s wedding with Nick but he was not excited. Nick was terrified about the idea and will refuse devastating Mia. She will be surprised to find him coming after her and she wonders if they have a chance.

These were two short stories that followed the Lucky Harbor series by Jill Shalvis. They were grouped together in Christmas in Lucky Harbor which is with the first two books of the series. I have long since started this series and have really liked the stories. The newest books I am not as thrilled, still like them, but they do blend together sometimes. These two stories bring us back to the beginning characters who I loved reading about. I thought these two stories were very good at invoking the emotion that Shalvis is very good at creating, love and lust. That was a common theme in both of the books.

The first story is with Sandy and Logan. I couldn’t remember Logan but then Shalvis reminded the reader that he was Tara’s ex-husband. There interaction is explosive. Sandy holds out for as long as she can. Logan you can tell is a changed man and you hope he doesn’t screw it up again.

The second book was with Mia, who was Tara and Ford’s daughter. You met her in The Sweetest Thing. I really liked when Mia came on the scene and was excited to read her story especially it brought me back to the original three sisters of this series. Mia wanted one thing and that was to be picked as she had picked everything in her life. She does not give in but makes Nick fight for what he almost lost. Nick makes good on his mistake by staying and helping, and at the same time convincing Mia that he loves her.

After I finished these stories I always want more from these short stories, and I still do, but I feel that they were left off in the right spot. You knew that they would all have a happy ending.

Once in a Lifetime

Once in a Lifetime (Lucky Harbor #9)Ben McDaniel is back in his hometown, Lucky Harbor, where he needed to rest. He had been through his own tragedies and needed a place that was safe. He wondered if coming back home was where he needed to be but he will find something to intrigue him, Aubrey Wellington.

Aubrey Wellington has a lot to be sorry for and she has made a list of those people she had done wrong. One by one she will cross them off her list as she made amends to what she had done. Aubrey will do what she can with her list and the hardest one will be with Ben as she is falling in love with him.

Once in a Lifetime is the ninth book to the Lucky Harbor series. I thought that this was a another cute book from Jill Shlavis series that was fun to read with a very sentimental value. Now as like a lot of her characters in this series they are flawed which makes them realistic and that is something I love. I want my characters to be realistic as you can relate to them more. There is part of me that wants something different from these books as they are all kind of the same but that is the style of the series.

So the character of Aubrey was really fantastic. She had a reputation for trouble but that did not mean she was a bad person. She was righting her wrong and it seemed that all the things she had done were provoked because the other person was lying or being too strict on her. Of course that is not always right but I wouldn’t say that she was a horrible person. I liked that she was making amends with her list and that list will turn things around for her at least towards the end. Now there is Ben who was a little broken and he is finding himself back in Lucky Harbor. I liked Ben for the most part, he was a little persistent when it came to Aubrey and her list which might not have been the best tactic. He was curious about what was going on and you kind of wanted him to mind his own business, but overall he was really a good guy and got it right at the end.

Rumor Has It

Rumor Has ItGriffin Reid was back in his hometown once again for his sisters wedding. He will soon find himself staring at his sisters best friend Katie. He knew she was off limit but he went for it. It was supposed to be a one night stand but soon he will find he can’t stop thinking about her.

Kate Evans is a second grade teacher in her hometown. She has the chance to leave home for a year but can’t seem to accept because of fear with leaving her family alone. Kate will soon find another thing stopping her when she sees her childhood crush Griffin is back and her feelings have never changed.

Rumor Has It is the fourth book to Jill Shalvis’s series Animal Magnetism. The nice thing about these books are you can read them easily on their own. A little background is given and you wouldn’t get lost if you just picked up the book. Out of all four books that I have read I have to say I really like this one. They were all good but there was something about Kate and Griffin that had me wanting to read more and more. Kate had a unique situation with taking care of her family which she used as an excuse for not leaving. I liked that she grew stronger in the book and took charge even though it was not easy. Griffin was a war hero and it felt he was in a rut the entire book that is when he wasn’t with Kate. They each fought the attraction but could not keep apart especially as they each took that first step forward.

There is a little surprise that happens at the end that causes a little turmoil but Shalvis makes sure that the situation does not cause permanent damage. There is a perfect happy ending that left me smiling for Kate and Griffin.

There is a girl named Olivia in the book that is mentioned. I wonder if she will be the next one in the series or if Jill Shalvis will end it with the fourth book? Only time will tell but I will keep looking out for book from Shalvis maybe trying out another series other than Lucky Harbor series.

Always on My Mind

Always on My MindLeah Sullivan did not have the best childhood which carried over to her as an adult. She had a hard time finishing things thinking that she was a failure. With the cooking show she got on she will show the town she was a failure once again, but all will not be lost as she will have Jack to lean on.

Jack Harper has always thought of Leah as a friend at least for the most part. They had tried before to be more but she ran. Now with the possibility out there once again she might not be the only one who wants to run.

Always on My Mind is Jill Shalvis’s eighth book from the series Lucky Harbor. This was another cute story that kept up with Shalvis memorable characters. It was a story of second chances and believing in each other. Leah and Jack had the foundation of a strong relationship but were torn apart by Leah being too scared. The second chance is Jack not putting his heart into this situation. Of course the ending will come to a happy ending.

The next book isn’t coming until February in 2014. It is not giving me any hints yet but I would bet that Ben and Audrey will be staring in it.

It Had to Be You

It Had to Be YouAli Winters soon finds herself being dumped by her boyfriend, kicked out of her home and now stealing $50,000. Ali needs to clear her name and she will with the help of Luke Hanover which has just come back to Lucky Harbor.

Luke Hanover needed a break from the job and came back to a place he had stayed away from for over ten years. Luke will be surprised by the tenant but that will not be the last time especially when dealing with Ali and the town.

It Had to Be You is the seventh book to Jill Shalvis’s series Lucky Harbor. This series is full of sweet stories that make you laugh and sometimes cry along with being frustrated at the situation or the characters. It Had to Be You was a good story. It was not my number one favorite from the series but I did like it because Jill Shalvis can write a story you get lost in.

Shalvis keeps the plots simple with two main characters who are thrown together in a situation that gets way out of hand. The plot for me is almost comical as Ali is a woman scorned but she really doesn’t have her heart in it. She is a little out there with her behavior but means well as she wears her heart on her sleeve. After her disaster with the relationship with Teddy you hoped that she would find happiness for herself. Teddy really was one who got around and you really wondered how he got away with it all. Now Luke our hero is a good man and cop who seemed to need a break from the job. It was funny as once he got to Lucky Harbor he did nothing but help out where he could with Ali and those in the town.

The crazy plot that dealt with the theft of $50,000 was solved with an unexpected culprit but Shalvis does give hints throughout the book. A happy ending will soon follow for Ali and Luke for another couple in Lucky Harbor.

I am interested to read how the relationship between Jack and Leah will be changing come Always on My Mind which I will be reading next.
