Holly Greenwood loved being a wedding planner but the stress of her job and all of her responsibilities were weighing her down. She will find help from her new neighbor that was very easy on the eyes. Holly didn’t want another complication but found that with Kevin he was trying to make things easier for her.
Kevin Vandemeer was back home and wanted to get his life together, which meant no more crazy girlfriends. Kevin will swear off woman but one look at his neighbor will have him rethinking his promise, especially when he meets her.
Only You is the first book to the series Bachelor Brotherhood by Denise Grover Swank. I really liked this book. It followed a similar path from the Wedding Pact series and of course it brought some of the original characters back, Megan and Josh, and Nicole.
Holly’s character was one who thought she could do it all. She tried her best to help her grandmother while earn enough money for her care. She was the one that usually took care of everyone. I liked that she would get help from Kevin who had wanted her and not just for sex. With Kevin in her life she becomes happier and a little less stressed since he was helping out. Kevin’s character was a solider who was coming home to start over. I thought his pact with his friends was comically especially because he didn’t even last a day. Kevin was a good son and brother and overall good man. He liked to help and I liked that when he found Holly he became freer, happier.
Nicole Vandemeer, Kevin’s mother and Holly’s boss, was a piece of work. So from first glance you would think that Nicole was mean and a little bit of a bully. In reality she was an overworked woman trying to do her best. Now that did not mean she didn’t like to get her way as it is seen with her children. I liked Nicole a whole lot more when it I was finishing the book.
So with the ending there was a teaser of the next book which will be coming out next year. I was frustrated because all it gave us was Tyler would be the main character but the mysterious woman was unnamed. I wanted to know if she was someone who had been mentioned in the Wedding Pact series or was a brand new character. Well, I suppose I will find out later when the summary is available. Though needless to say I am looking forward to reading the next book to the series.
Rose Gardner worked at the DMV in her hometown which found her an odd ball. It was not the way that she dressed but because she had visions. One morning at the DMV Rose will see a man and suddenly a vision will come to her which will show her death. Rose will be frantic especially when her world starts to spin apart with several murders and secrets being uncovered.
Twenty-Eight and a Half Wishes is the first book to the series Rose Gardner Mystery by Denise Grover Swank. I liked this book. It was a free book on amazon. I had to get it since I had really loved the Wedding Pact series. This book was strange but with how Denise Grover Swank writes you are drawn in. Granted there was a couple situations that were very predictable but it didn’t stop me from enjoying the book.
Rose’s character was considered odd because she had visions. I liked that about Rose because that made her different, unique. I liked Rose also because she was naive and sheltered which meant she was eager to experience life. She went for it when creating the list. What I didn’t always like was that she was too naive especially when it came to her new neighbor Joe. She does get smart and starts to ask questions but she is not that assertive when it comes to walking away.
There was some secrets that are uncovered which explain a lot of the animosity that was between Rose and her mother. One character that drove me crazy was Joe. He was a predictable character and one that made me what to slap him. He was a good guy, then a annoying guy, and finally kind of villain like towards Rose. I looked ahead in the series and Joe sounds like he is going to be disappointing.
So I am torn. I want to read more but I don’t always like series that is written around one character. I am also not a lover of love triangles that are more than three books. The love triangle gets boring and I just want the character to make a decision, which is why I like them in romances because when the book ends its usually finished. At least this series is done. Of course that didn’t stop the author from continuing with Rose, just in another series. I will see if I’ll continue on in the series.
Blair Hansen-Lowry was in love with her husband but insecurities were still present with Blair especially with Valentine’s Day tonight. She will want to do something with her husband but when his plane is delayed things will go from bad to worst.
Garrett Lowry wanted to get back to his wife for Valentine’s Day but luck was not on his side as his plane was delayed. He will fight hard to get to her for tonight especially as they had fought over the phone.
The Valentine is fourth book to the series The Wedding Pact by Denise Grover Swank. I loved this novella that continued Blair’s and Garrett’s story. Their story had been the most intense of the series with all the heartbreak that was between them and it had been the most compelling one to read. I liked that Swank continued their story, to show how their marriage was going, and it was anything but perfect. Though it was all them and to me that made the story fantastic to read.
I liked that Blair was softening up. She was still tough and insecure but she was in love and that showed. Of course Blair really is her own worst enemy, but I liked that Blair knew she overreacted right away. Garrett is the perfect husband. He loves Blair for who she is and he doesn’t want to change her. He does put his foot in the mouth but he always makes up for it.
There was a surprise at the end that had me cringing and hoping everything would come out fine. Thankfully that was the case because this couple had gone through so much. I wanted them to be happy and to be happy with each other.
I am really hoping for more on this series and hope that more will be written. I wouldn’t mind reading a story on Garrett’s sister or one on Blair’s assistant. So then I looked at the website and saw she had written the book Only You which is a start of another series that has Kevin (Meghan’s brother in the first book). I will definitely be checking out this book.
Libby St. Clair was expecting the curse to cause havoc on her wedding but everything was going perfectly. Libby will find herself running from her own wedding into a car that was outside the church. She will be surprised that the driver was her friend Noah. With the impending wedding curse just days away Libby will have to make a choice.
Noah McMillan wanted Libby but knew that she didn’t feel the same way. So Noah became her friend. She was someone who understood him and did not judge him.
The Gambler is the third novel to the series The Wedding Pact by Denise Grover Swank. I really liked this novel. It was definitely wackier than the others but that was because of Libby’s character who was more of a free spirit.
Libby was the extreme personality of the three woman. She was very impulsive. I liked her character especially as you got to know her more. What happened in her past was just too sad but I liked that Libby will finally realize that she is able to be loved. Noah’s character was a screw up but really he was doing something that he almost resented. Again he has a sad past but there will be something you find out later that helps Noah get over that past.
I liked the interaction of these two character. They are really alike in some ways which let them understand each other better than their friends or family every could. I thought it was great that they started off as friends because they got to know each other a lot more and that built a strong relationship. The few days they spend together is a little wacky but it fits with who these two were.
So, I had thought that I was done with the series but found there is another story that goes back to Blair and Garrett. I am reading that one next.
Blair Hansen had loved one man who broke her heart and made her wary about trusting. Then five years later she found a man that she going to marry though he was someone she didn’t love as she didn’t believe in it. There will be a problem when the man she had loved shows up and he is determined to remind her of what they used to have.
Garrett Lowry knew he had screwed up five years ago and was making it up since then. When he sees Blair at a hotel he knew that had to take the chance and win her back. Though it will be hard as the woman he once loved was buried deep inside.
The Player is the second novel to the series The Wedding Pact by Denise Grover Swank. I really loved this book, it was a very well written story. Now I had loved the first one which in my opinion was much more lighthearted than the second book. The second book was more on betrayal and how trust was lost and how it had to be earned.
Blair was a woman who had been betrayed and has hardened her heart when it comes to love. She is considered cold but really that is just her exterior, she is afraid to express her feelings because she could be rejected. I found it sad for Blair that she was getting married to a man she doesn’t love but finds him stable, and someone who would not cheat. Personally I really disliked Neil from the start and much more at the end. I liked that Blair will find the strength to go with her heart again but it will not work out like the fairy tale story you want. So Garrett’s character was a good guy that made a mistake, though Blair had her part in that mistake. Then he makes a mistake which gives truth to her suspicions. I hated that Garrett goes that route but five years later he is certainly making up for that mistake. I like that he will try and do anything he could be get Blair back.
In the book there is a really well written twist that makes things much more difficult for Blair and Garrett to find that happy ending. As the reader I am yelling at the book for Blair to figure out the truth before it’s too late but it wouldn’t be that easy. Since Blair is insecure about relationships she will make a lot of bad mistakes before she figures out the truth behind it all.
Megan Vandemeer was in trouble. She had found her fiance cheating and immediately broke up with him. The trouble was she hadn’t told her mother about breaking up with Jay and the wedding was now only a few days ago. Megan will find a solution when a man she met on the plane ride will volunteer to help.
Josh McMillan was going to Kansas to find out who really stole his patent before the deadline was too late. His plan was to get close to Vandemeer and as luck would have it he would meet a Vandemeer on his plane to Kansas, except it was the daughter. His plan will change as he volunteers to help the daughter, but Josh will soon be in way over his head.
The Substitute is the first book to the series Wedding Pact by Denise Grover Swank. I really loved this book, it was cute, fun, and a little crazy. I will admit that it was also very predictable but I really didn’t mind that. I was just enjoying the story.
The concept of the story is that three friends were told that the men they were going to marry would not happen and that there would be another man who would come into each of their lives. So Megan is first of the friends whose wedding will have a problem I liked Megan’s character. She was a good person who had a lot of things going for herself except she was afraid of her mother. It wasn’t that the mother was bad but she could be judgmental. The mother gets better and you find out a little information that helps you like the mother a lot more. Then there was Josh’s character. I liked him for all his planning and you knew he was not a bad guy or even malicious. He will be lying to why he was really helping Megan, but he was trying to help his employees keep their job. So the attraction between them is almost instantaneously. They fight it but with close proximity there is no help for them.
The friends, Blair and Libby, of Megan were polar opposites of each other. They had their own parts in the book whether they were helping or hindering the crazy scheme of Megan. I liked her friends and I know that I will enjoy reading their stories.
