Rohn Lerner was lonely but the options of women were limited, then a woman from his past shows up. Rohn will do his best to get close to Bonnie but he will notice she was more closed off than she was in high school.
Bonnie Martin was back home after twenty five years to clear out her old house. Bonnie just wanted to do the work and go back to Arizona but then Rohn comes back into her life.
Midnight Wrangler is the second book to the series Midnight Cowboys by Cat Johnson. I liked the book. I thought it was a good addition to the series though it was a little slow at times.
Rohn’s character was a determined and hard working man but personally he was lonely and a little closed off. I liked that he opened up again when Bonnie came back into his life like he was in high school. Cat Johnson wrote in scenes that were with Rohn and Bonnie when they were back in high school, and I liked that it didn’t overwhelm the book with it being all about their past. Now Bonnie’s character was a woman who was still haunted by her past. That left her closed off and lonely. I liked that she was giving herself a chance with Rohn again but her past was always in the background. I will say that I was curious with what had happened. I was guessing through out the book. When the secret was reveled it wasn’t as big as I thought it would’ve been, and I thought it was a little rushed at the end. The secret was something that was going to hurt Rohn and he forgave really quickly. Although I did like that he forgave since it would give them a second chance at being happy.
Jax Monroe was pissed at her soon to be ex husband, the man she had thought loved her, but when she found him cheating she knew it was all lies. Jax will have to get her life in gear again. Her friends solution was to find someone knew. She had her eye on the bartender but she wasn’t that type of girl. Though there will be something about Shane that will have her wanting him and then wanting more.
Shane Reynolds was undercover as a bartender. He was disgusted by the way people acted at the country club but then he meets Jax. She is the only person that he wanted to get to know. Though it could be crossing a line as he was working for her father. Shane will take a risk when it comes to Jax.
Private Lies is the third book to the series Sex, Lies & Wedding Cake by Cat Johnson. I liked this story. It was pretty much fluff, not much going on, but it was still fun to read. I thought this of course could have been drawn out into a bigger novel which would let you know more about the characters.
Jax was wealthy due to her parents. She might not make the best decisions but she tries her hardest at whatever she does. I liked that Jax wasn’t like her friends or the majority of people at the country club. I also liked that she let herself go and be with Shane. Those scenes were again very steamy. Shane’s character is not necessarily the bad boy but he is certainly rough around the edges for the country club scene. I liked that he was a private investigator and that he was undercover. I was wondering if that would get him into trouble with Jax as he is lying to her but Johnson kind of just glosses over that part, its there but its not that big of deal. Maybe in a novel it would have been, though when you are writing a novella there is only so much that you can put in.
Gillian Marlboro is the maid of honor in her sisters wedding. Gillian loves her sister and wishes her the best but it was a lot of work. Gillian was looking forward to relaxing on the boat but things will get dangerous when a storm will have them stranded on the island. Gillian was scared but she had Jamie to help her get through the worst of it.
Jamie Foster was the best man in the wedding. He was envious of his best friend and wanted that happy ending. When he meets Gillian he hopes that there could be more but was insecure as he was very smart and not fun like his frat brothers. Jamie will be surprised when Gillian will want him but he will have other things on his mind, like how to survive.
Gillian’s Island is the second book to Sex, Lies & Wedding Cake series by Cat Johnson. I liked this novella and unlike the first story in the series this one had more detail and I felt that this was a complete story. Now did I love it, no, but it was a good quick read and very steamy.
Gillian’s character was the responsible one and I liked that she stepped out of her comfort zone and took a chance with Jamie. She was the opposite of the wedding party but she was like Jamie at least with being responsible. Jamie was very smart and not that frat boy like his friends. He would be the guy that you would want on a stranded island.
The scenes between Gillian and Jamie were pretty intense and very steamy. Though what else would happen when a group of people were stranded on an island.
I am reading the third and final story of the series next.
Rose Thayer was the maid of honor for her best friend. She arrived in New Orleans expecting the usual wedding events but she will find herself being sent to the bachelor party as a stripper to find out if the groom will cheat.
New Orleans is the first book to the series Sex, Lies & Wedding Cake by Cat Johnson. Alright, I liked the novella for the most part but I felt that the author could have a lot done more. The transitions between the scenes were too quick, and it seemed that I was missing pieces. I wanted more to the story, for her to flush out the characters. I wanted to know more about Rose and Tim, but all we got was a strange situation and sex. Still there were funny moments, I just wanted more.
I am going to continue with the other two books of the series as I am curious about what will happen next.
Tyler Jenkins was working as a ranch hand but will quickly find he will be doing twice the work when he starts to help out a widow. Tyler didn’t find the task exhausting as it gave him an excuse to be by Janie.
Janie Smithwick has been widowed for a year now and the pain was still there, though she will find that she was mending as she started to desire again. Janie should have been wanting someone closer to her age but she will be attracted to a ranch hand.
Midnight Ride is the first book in the series Midnight Cowboys by Cat Johnson. I really liked this book. I thought it was a great start to this cowboy series. Within the book there was some fire and passion that burned between these characters but it was sweet as it was a courtship as well.
Ever since reading the series Oklahoma Nights I was waiting to read Tyler’s story where he had appeared. I had liked his character right away. He was charismatic, a flirt, funny and sweet. Now although he had a way with the ladies I wouldn’t say he was a true player. He definitely got around but it wasn’t as much as others thought. I liked that he was giving up his ways the moment he saw Janie. Janie’s character was someone who was still healing. Although she was ready to move on, she was scared especially to move on with a man who was over 10 years younger than her.
Throughout the book I kept thinking that nothing can really come of this because of the age difference but love does not work around ages. If you love somebody, you love them. I liked that Cat Johnson was letting the woman, a thirty six year old, find love with a younger man, a twenty five year old. For me this age gap is pretty common with historical romances, though its usually the man who is 10 years older than the young woman.
So the second book will be coming out this month and the third book will be coming out in February of 2016. Can’t wait to continue the series.
Jace Mills needed a break from his stressful ex girlfriend and going on the rodeo while helping out Tara seemed like a good idea. The only problem was Jace was starting to see Tara in a different light.
Tara Jenkins had an internship for three weeks with the rodeo circuit and needed a ride. She will be shocked that Jace volunteered, even more so when feelings of lust come between them.
Three Weeks with a Bull Rider is the third book to the series Oklahoma Nights by Cat Johnson. Alright so I liked the book but I was weary of it. The characters of Jace and Tara were not my favorite. I had thought them immature, especially Tara. I get it since the man she had loved for years rejected her but she had to know it would never work in the back of her mind. Logan was just too old for her. Tara does get more mature towards the end of the book which I liked.
Tara and Jace seem completely wrong for each other but then opposites attract. Their relationship is chaotic as they make each other angry but there is an attraction that will lead to very steamy foreplay then sex. It was kind of entertaining with how curious and pushy Tara started to become when it came to Jace and wanting experience.
So that is it for this series but I saw that Tyler had his own story in another series, which I would be interested in reading.
Emma Hart was coming back to Oklahoma for her sisters wedding. Emma was hoping that she might be able to meet up with Jace and try again but then she sees Logan and knows he is the man that she wants.
Lieutenant Colonel Logan Hunt was not looking for love but he was not scared of it. So when he meets Emma at the wedding he will be shocked at the instant attraction they feel together. They each know they will only have a one night stand but when she comes back to visit her sister everything changes.
Two Times as Hot is the second book to the series Oklahoma Nights by Cat Johnson. I thought that this was a great follow up from the first book. In fact I think I liked this a little more than the first book.
Emma is looking for love, is looking for someone to commit to but she has been unlucky in that department. She will follow her sisters lead and have a one night stand with a man, Logan, only things will never be the same after that night. Emma will be getting an unexpected surprise that wouldn’t have her running in fear but fearful of what that might do with her relationship with Logan. Now Logan is a good man. He is not afraid of commitment, just doesn’t think about it. I liked that he starts to change a little when he starts seeing Emma. They are good together, the sexual chemistry is there but they can just talk to each other as well.
The one thing that I didn’t like in the book was right at the end. Well truthfully I liked the impact and the results of the ending I just thought that Logan was a little cheesy at the end of the book.
Alright now I have to say this that I wasn’t really that interested in Tara or Jace. Tara was after Logan even though he was way to old to be with her, and Jace had commitment issues with his ex-girlfriend. I think that they both need some growing up and figure out what they really want in life. I will be reading their story next and hope that they have gotten a little maturity in their book.
