3rd Degree by James Patterson

I can’t get enough of the Women’s Murder Club series.  It really is addicting and fast to read.  You start the book and next thing you know it is done.

The Plot of 3rd Degree:

“Plunging into a burning town house, Detective Lindsay Boxer discovers three dead bodies…and a mysterious message at the scene.  When more corpses turn up, Lindsay asks her friends Claire Washburn of the medical examiner’s office, Assistant D.A. Jill Bernhardt, and San Francisco Chronicle reporter Cindy Thomas to help her find a murderer who he has targeted one of the four friends.  Which one will it be?”

Every time I read one of the books in the series I seem more and more drawn into the characters lives and the intense thriller plot.  You really get to know the characters and into their lives.  It gets addicting to read because you have to find out who is killing and what is really happening.  For instance Jill has a bruise and Lindsay is concerned.  Is this a problem in Jill’s life?  Lindsay finds out for certain.

The bad guy is really bad guys.  An organization that is killing supposedly for the good of the people.  Those who need the most help.  For this group it is war against the big CEO but it does get personal.

There is an unspeakable tragedy that hits the Women’s Murder Club and one of them will be permanently gone from the group but who and why are they targeted by this group.  The plot thickens and lead everyone to where the bad guy is getting his inspiration.  But even as the book end the group is still really a group because there will always be another to pick up the cause.

James Patterson brings another thriller and suspense tale to the pages with 3rd Degree.  I was amazed by the book.  The story line is interesting with the radical and very tragic which will make you sad for the death of the member.  I also like the fact that one of the members might have found love and won’t let him get away.  Hopefully it will last to keep her happy, until the next book.

1st To Die by James Patterson

After reading the book Along Came a Spider I was off in search of another book by James Patterson.  I thought to give James Patterson another chance since I wasn’t thrilled with Along Came a Spider.  I came across 1st To Die which is the first story in the series Women’s Murder Club.

The plot of the book:

“In San Francisco newlyweds are being stalked-and slaughtered.  Enter four unforgettable women, all friends…Lindsay, a homicide inspector in the city’s police department…Claire, a medical examiner…Jill, and assistant D.A…and Cindy, a reporter who has just started working the crime desk of the San Francisco Chronicle.  Joining forces, pooling their talents, courage, and brains, they have one goal.  To find, trap, and outwit the most diabolical and terrifying killer every imagined.”

I thought the series name was interesting being called the Women’s Murder Club.  The name was intriguing and made me want to find out more with the book.  After reading it I was glad that I did.  The book was enjoyable and I became enthralled with it.  I had to find out who the killer was but with all the twist and turns it became hard to do.

I found this book enticing to read from the very first page which it opens with a bang as Lindsay the main character was crying about all that was happening.  My first thought was she was going to commit suicide but I stopped and thought about it.  The series with her as a character couldn’t really do that but it had me nervous.  I liked that the book started out with a few pages close to the end, it automatically drew me into the book.

The characters of the book were fantastic.  The heroes the four women were all entertaining and I can’t wait to see their character develop throughout the series.  I loved how each of them worked together to solve the case.  Each helped the other with probing questions and thinking about the situation.  Lindsay who was the main character you felt for her when the news of her health was in question and for the tragedy that she had to overcome, past and present.  I felt scared, sad, nervous and happy for Lindsay throughout the entire book.

Now the villain in this book well you do not know exactly who but the man who is going be thought as the killer is sick, twisted and crazy.  And the scenes from the murders are gruesome but it gets the point across that the killer is brutal with the couples.

1st To Die is a fantastic start to the series Women’s Murder Club.  It was witty, kept you guessing with the twist and turns, interesting characters and a twisted plot.  You think you know the end but everything keeps twisting back and forth that you can not figure it out till the last page.
