Raphael is one of the most powerful Vampire Lords out there and with one wrong move a war could breakout. Raphael will have to make choices about territorial lines and whether some allies will be strengthened or weakened but there will be an attempt on his life. They will have to find the traitor and stop him.
So I screwed up and read the sixth book first before Betrayed which means I know what has happened as Reynolds talks about the assassination attempt on Raphael. Now we know that it will take a lot to kill this vampire and hopeful the author will not want to kill off Raphael as he is one of the characters I love reading about. I thought that this novella added a good amount of detail considering it was a novella and it was a good intro to the sixth book and the problems that were going to occur.
The Vampire Lord of the Midwest has fallen to his death and the new territory is up for grabs. Only the strongest vampire will be able to hold on to this territory. Aden will be wanting the job and by helping the Vampire Lords he will have a chance at the territory but first he will have to get rid of the competition and the one who wants vengeance against the Lords.
I am reading Hunted in the correct order this time. Once I finished Betrayed I started to read Hunted as it comes right after the sixth book. I liked this book as it gives us a good idea of who Aden is but I have a feeling there is much more to this vampire and I can’t wait to find out. So the act of revenge was pretty simple and it was a woman scorned, Magada who was an lawyer for Lucas. She has been angry as he assigned away from him and she wanted him to suffer. She will make the wrong move when Raphael’s mate will be in danger. It doesn’t go well for the lawyer.
So the next book I am reading of D B Reynolds is obviously the last book to the series which I own is Aden. I am excited to read his story to find out more about this man and because it is located in Chicago. I have been waiting for Chicago to be part of the series as I am an Illinois resident. Chicago was where I went a lot as a kid for museums and watching professional football, baseball, basketball and hockey live from the stadium. I am wondering what type of detail she will put in for this book to reference the city. I will find out soon as I am reading the seventh book next.
Katerina Pavlova wants revenge for her family. Fleeing Russia with the remaining family she has they travel to England. With a new identity of the Countess de Salerno, Katerina makes a name for herself in jewelry design making it easier to mingle in society. With only a name of a prince she will find him and get her revenge. Upon meeting Prince Drako she is confused and thought that a mistake has been made. He does not seem the villain Katerina expected. Katerina will find help from the Prince and will be finding love in his arms.
Prince Drako Karanov has seen the Countess with his own eyes and knows he wants to know her more. Drako will use his charms but the Countess does not bend so easily. Drako will work around Katerina and enchant her daughter and befriend her brother, which is when he will find out her true identity and need of revenge. He will help Katerina on her need of revenge and to the alter.
As I started the book Enticing the Prince I thought I would miss the Flambeau sisters as they had captured my complete attention in the last two books. Patricia Grasso may have diverted her attention more on the Karanov’s, who are ones you are drawn to as well, but kept the Flambeau sisters in the background as they are still part of the story. Through this book Grasso is also continuing on the story that had been partly told in the last one. It does get a little confusing with all the information but you are easily entertained by all that goes on.
Drako was a new character from the last book. I thought him to be less serious and almost more of a playboy prince but I was pleasantly surprised. Of course there are moments in the book. Katerina was a really well developed character. In the last book you got to know her a little but Grasso really develops her character to one that you like. You want her to find revenge for her family. Her revenge goes to one man and throughout the story you have a very good hunch who is the villain.
This book was almost like a game of cat and mouse. Grasso keeps the mystery in with who is threatening Katerina and Drako. Reading the book I had a feeling of the villain but there was more to the story which was almost comical as the situation unfolded. I liked that she keeps our detectives, Alexander and Raven involved within the story. Alexander’s character is ever growing and you like him more and more. Raven plays a coy individual who is very strong in her thoughts. Grasso now is having her show different emotions especially when she has to play spy. I can’t wait for their own story.
Blaze Flambeau will be next with Marrying the Marquis.
Meredith Gentry has been in hiding for the last three years from faerie but now things have changed when Merry is needed to come back home. Merry has no desire to leave but the last case has left her shaken as a human abused her with the help of magic. Things are going from bad to worse when the Queen’s guard comes to retrieve her. Merry will go and find out that all things are about to change in the Kingdom as Meredith Gentry, Princess of high court of Faerie could now have a chance at thrown. The only catch is she has to become pregnant before her cousin.
As I have caught up with the series of Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter I browsed the other series of Laurell Hamilton. The other series which has eight books is Meredith Gentry. The first book is A Kiss of Shadows and I have to say I was hooked. I wanted to know more about Merry and the sidhe.
Hamilton stays true to sex and passion in her books but this one kept you involved in the story and gives plenty of details with what is happening around them. There are many intriguing characters and I am interested in reading how they will all fair in the series.
Miss Caroline Ritter was ruined according to society four years ago but she had to find a way to make due so she went to work and used what she knew best. To flirt. She would teach others to flirt and find a spouse. Her latest job is with Jude Durant who seemed helpless with his fashion sense. But behind closed doors Carolina sees a different man.
Jude Durant dresses in the most colorful clothes and is determined for those around him to think of him less. Jude has a mission which this display of character must be kept but Caroline threatens his cool and the real Jude starts to appear.
In My Fair Temptress Christina Dodd writes a delightful continuation of the governess brides series. The characters are rich with detail and back story that you are immediately intrigued with what will happen as they collide.
I love Jude’s character as he acts the idiot but is very smart and cunning when it comes to helping out his fellow spies. The outrageous attire was humorous to read about.
Caroline’s character was fun and soft but there was a deeper part that was slowly revealing and it was not just the harmless flirt she had been four years ago.
Readers will enjoy My Fair Temptress as Dodd brings you into the plot with the turn of the first page.
