Ria Parkar was known as the Ice Princess. Ria had made herself distant from everyone else but now she was coming home for her cousins wedding. She wanted to be there but that meant she would see Vikram, the boy whose heart she had broken.
Vikram Jathar had loved Ria but then she had betrayed him. When Vikram sees Ria he will be angry as all those feelings come back to the surface. He will try to keep his distance but it will be a losing battle.
The Bollywood Bride is the second book to the series Bollywood by Sonali Dev. Like the first, I loved this book. Sonali Dev really integrates the culture and traditions well throughout the book. I wanted to find out all that was hidden in the past and to find out the real reasons why the characters were a shell of themselves.
Ria’s character was a young woman who had gone through a big trauma at a young age. You don’t know everything until later one. At first I thought Ria truly was an ice princess from how she handled things ten years ago, but I had a feeling she was not that cruel. Ria’s true self is discovered and your heart breaks for her as she is just a shell of herself. Vikram’s character was intentionally cruel to Ria and its because he felt betrayed. There is logic to that but I wanted him to at least move on and make a fresh start. I get my wish but the future is complicated for these two characters that is until everything gets out onto the table and they take a chance.
I really wanted something to be done about Vikram’s mother but I guess that would have put too much strain on the characters. I liked that he was standing up to her and taking a chance with Ria once again.
So Sonali Dev third book has come out in September and I will be reading that next but I am hesitant. It is with Nic and Jen who were in this book and are the ones that are getting married. It seems in the next book a tragedy will happen that break up the couple forever. Well I will find out more as I read the book next.
Christopher Argent was an assassin to higher but he would never kill children. He never misses but Christopher will miss this time. He will not kill Millie but save her from the man who had hired him. Christopher will have to find out the true person behind the contract while he keeps Millie and her son safe.
Millicent LeCour “Millie” was an actress and one who was very talented. She will be known to all the gentleman as unattainable but there will be one, Christopher, who will make her want more. Millie will have to think about her son but will quickly realize that she will need Christopher in order to keep her son alive.
The Hunter is the second book to the series Victorian Rebels by Kerrigan Byrne. I really liked this book. Like the first one it was darker, not the romantic story where the couple have no big issues. Byrne writes about assassins, actresses, and murder.
As said the story is darker and that is mainly because of Christopher’s character. He was severally traumatized which made him into a fighter then killer. Christopher is not so damaged that he can’t be saved even if he thinks it is too late. I liked Christopher because he spoke the truth, it might have been cruel but that was his way. I also liked that he struggled. When he was going to hurt Millie he had to stop because he knew it was wrong. Millie’s character was predictable with her story line but I didn’t mind it that much because I wanted to read about her. Millie had a mask of emotion that she wore and unless she was with her son or even Christopher it was always guarded. I liked that Christopher made her feel safe even though he was the assassin coming to end her life.
The bad guys were plenty and the ultimate one that was behind it all was a surprise but it made sense. The next story is with Mena, who is mentioned in this book, and that book came out this August which I will be reading next.
Apollo Greaves, Viscount Kilbourne, has been convicted of murdering three of his friends four years ago. With the help of his now brother-in-law he escaped but he was still not free to take his place in society. He will have to find the murderer and will be helped by some unexpected allies. Though he will be distracted when an actress, Lily, captured his attention.
Lily Stump was a famous actress and playwright even though no one knew that fact. Lily, her son and a servant named Maude were temporarily living at Harte’s Folly while it was being restored. There will be one problem that happens which is finding a mute man in the gardens who is not who she thinks.
Darling Beast is the seventh book to the Maiden Lane series by Elizabeth Hoyt. I had bought this book awhile ago but had not gotten the chance to read the book until now. Usually the books I buy take a while to read because I am always checking out books from my library. Well I picked it up now because I also have the eighth book from the series. Alright so Darling Beast was a book that I really liked.
I was excited to read Apollo’s story because of his sister Artemis. I had really liked her character in the sixth book and her interaction with her brother. I wanted to know what had happened three years ago as you knew that Apollo was not the murderer. It was interesting with Apollo as he could not talk, he only could write down his words. I felt for the first half of the book there was a gentler side to Apollo especially as he interacted with Lily’s child. There is a dangerous side to Apollo but only when he is protecting those he loves. Now Lily is a confident actress who knows what she has to do in life. She protects those that she loves. When she interacts with Apollo I really liked them together especially when it started out with him just being a gardener. That let Lily really get to know the man and not the title or the scandal that was part of his life.
The mystery of the murderer was prevalent in the book as that was a major part of the plot. The question of who was the real murderer had stumped me, which I liked. I waiting for the big reveal. There is another little surprise that is with Lily and her past. I knew the mystery but only a small part of it.
I found that Hoyt was writing in some recurring names and new names that I know will most likely be given their own story. I figure that Miss Royal will have her own story and possibly Duke Montgomery who is an intriguing character.
I am excited to read the eighth book next which is with Phoebe, the sister of Duke Wakefield.
Olivia Bentley saw a man she thought was drowning and ran to save him. Olivia didn’t realize that the man was not drowning and he in turns saves her. She will find herself starting to have feelings for this man with every moment they spend together but she is hiding a part of her.
Cole Donovan had been betrayed by the people he loved. With Olivia he found something again and was scared but wanted to be with her. Cole though will learn that Olivia was hiding herself and things will change for him.
He’s So Fine is the eleventh book to the series Lucy Harbor by Jill Shalvis. With Shalvis you can fall right into her books which I love. The characters are believable, a little whacky and full of emotions. I really loved this latest addition to the series.
Olivia was living a lie in Lucky Harbor but it was to start a new life. Her lie is not anything horrible, she is a child star. You will feel for Olivia but cheer her on as she is finding her real self and I liked the real Olivia. She was a timid woman, had trust issues, wanted to love and to live life. I thought she was a believable character. Though you knew that her past would no doubt come out and ruin what she had. So yes it was predictable though you can’t help but love it. Now Cole was a strong man who was hurt and betrayed. He had some definite trust issues when getting into a relationship. I liked that he went all in with Olivia. He trusted her and opened up. I wished that she did the same as there were so many moments but that is how the story goes.
Alright now there were plenty of characters that have been introduced like Cole’s friends but his ex was a piece of work. I really didn’t like her. Her little speech with Cole was actually annoying and made me dislike her even more. She was too smug even though I know that she was just letting Cole know what had went wrong. I liked Cole how he was and didn’t think he really needed to change too much. Well he does change a little but he will be very much the same man, though now will be a man in love with a woman.
Julia Wentworth and Damon Savage had one thing in common, they were married to each other and had no desire to be. Their parents had married them off when they were children and as adults neither were wanting to be saddled with a spouse. Circumstances will have Julia and Damon finding each other and will be more shocked when they have feelings for each other. Though each are hesitant where that will lead them.
Somewhere I’ll Find You is the first book to the series Capitol Theatre. I found this book to be very entertaining. I was wondering in the beginning if I would like it. There are sometimes when you love the authors writing but on that particular book it just didn’t give you what you wanted. I thought that was going to be the case with the beginning but then you continue and it became engaging and I wanted to know more.
Julia and Damon were given a disservice with being forced to marry without having their knowledge when they were children. It made them become guarded and hesitant to trust. Neither will want each other in their lives until they meet each other and then they feel the desire. You felt for Julia who did want to be loved by Damon but feared that he would take away the one thing that she treasured. Damon was a bit of a player but you really couldn’t fault him too much. He was likeable but he should’ve made more of an attempt to find Julia, Julia should’ve done the same.
Needless to say there will be that happy ending that you long for, it will just take a lot of time persuading and some mending of hearts. I was interested in Logan Scott and what he was running from. I figured it was a woman who had broken his heart but it seemed even more. The answers will be given in the second/last book of the series which I will be reading next.
Pamela Darby needed to earn money fast for herself and her sister. To solve their problems they needed a man who perhaps was more brawn than brains. They needed the man to play the part of the long lost heir to a powerful duke. She will find the perfect man, Connor Kincaid.
Connor Kincaid was a notorious highwayman and in all his years being one he never was propositioned to play a part of a long lost heir. He will agree to the scheme but will find that when Pamela’s task is up he wants to keep her close and will make sure she stays around.
Some Like It Wild is the second and final book to the series Kincaid Highland by Teresa Medeiros. I really loved the book. There was some humor, mystery, some action, and of course romance. I thought it was a good conclusion to this short series.
Pamela was the daughter of an actress and did not know her father. She has done everything she could to make sure her sister and her survive. Now Pamela was not a villain by any means but she was a woman who did what she needed to do which meant she would have to lie to get what she needed. Connor was a good man but he had given up on life it seemed. With the scheme it seemed that Connor was back with some fire and definitely passion when it came to Pamela.
The villain was obvious even before I knew the twist. There was just something devious about the character that had you guessing they were up to no good.
This book had a surprise which had me questioning if it was even possible. Medeiros explains the situation rather well throughout the end of the book and it makes sense. I liked the twist as it made it all the more possible for a happy ending.
Lady Cecilia Evangeline Stone is in search of her son who is getting married in a few days. She wouldn’t be there to congratulate her son but to stop the wedding as he was going to marry an actress who was too old for him. Cecilia will have problems along the way in Russia but will be rescued by Mr. Levin.
Konstantin Alexie Levin was on the way to London to collect money that was being given to him. It would be a fresh start but before he could leave he will stop to help a woman. The attraction is instant for Konstantin and he will want nothing more to be with this woman but she will be an aristocrat.
Romancing Lady Stone is a novella to the series School of Gallantry by Delilah Marvelle. Well its been a couple years since I had found my first book by Marvella. The books I have read by this author haven’t been amazing that is until I read this book. I really liked this novella. Maybe it was because it was shorter and more to the point, I am not sure. Well I am sure that I liked the characters of Cecilia and Konstantin. They were a mismatch from the start and with her being a little older it would never do in society. Then there was Konstantin who was a former criminal. I liked him and even though he was 10 years younger than Cecilia he had a maturity that kept up with her. He was good for her as well in a way of letting her spread her wings. I liked that it was a romance that would beat the odds and win because it will, it just might take a little convincing between the both of them with the help of destiny.
I liked Cecilia’s character as she was a mother and was older but in life she hadn’t really lived and Konstantin brings that out in her especially the sexual side. Out of all the books I have read by Marvelle the one spot she always will write well are those intense love scenes. I guess for myself I just couldn’t get into the characters or the plot that was forming in the books. I really didn’t have a problem with the novella and I really did enjoy it.
So since I liked this novella I will have to try out this series School of Gallantry to find out if it is like this novella. That will be coming later as my pile of books hasn’t had the chance to decrease as I keep adding to the pile.
