Because You’re Mine

Because You're MineLady Madeline Matthews hatched a plan to get herself out of a marriage to a man who was older than her father. She was set out to ruin herself and knew the perfect man to do the job, Logan Scott.

Logan Scott did not trifle with young unmarried woman. He did not trust woman but there was something about Madeline that made him want to forget his rules.

Because You’re Mine is the second book to Capitol Theatre series by Lisa Kleypas. I really liked this book. Kleypas keeps you entertained with the couple eventually finding love and the little banter back and fourth. I liked that I got to read more with the actors that worked at the Capitol Theatre.

Kleypas writes the character of Madeline to be very entertaining. She is young and naive but she was also a very strong willed girl. Although when facing off with Logan she will find her courage and ache of love die as he does not reciprocate. Kleypas writes Logan sometimes to be a villain in a way. Though the reason for Logan’s anger is because he was betrayed by a woman, as I thought from the previous book, but there was more that was hidden about his life. Logan will be betrayed again and he will have to learn to forgive or ask for support. That support comes from Madeline even though he does not want it, he does but he wouldn’t admit it.

It’s hard to have the hero act like a villain sometimes because that will interfere with the happy ending. Although if there are not problems then the book can get very boring. For me Kleypas does not have that problem as all her heroes or heroines are flawed in someway but will always redeem themselves in the end. The romance reader in me cheers for those moments.

I am off to read another series from Lisa Kleyas which is Wallflowers.

Rosemary’s Baby

Rosemary's BabyRosemary and Guy Woodhouse were in luck when they landed one of the most exclusive apartment buildings in New York. Little by little this perfect place started to become a nightmare at least for Rosemary who swore their was something sinister going on in the building thanks to her friend Hutch. Rosemary will find that it will be too late to find a way out.

Rosemary’s Baby is a book by Ira Levin. I have wanted to read this book for a while since I saw the movie years ago, I just never got around to trying it. The drive to read the book was because I watched the movie once again. I liked the book for the most part. I will say at times it read a little slow but I kept through it till the last page.

The book is like the movie and it is a lot of the little things that are happening in the book and movie. Everyday things are happening but with each page the plot because more sinister. There were not many characters that were good in this book, with the exception of Rosemary, but one that I really disliked was Guy. He was someone who wanted more and was willing to use his wife to get what he wanted. Now this is not a happy ending for the Woodhouses at least in the traditional sense but I guess if you look at it another way they got what they wanted in the end.

Big Sky Wedding

Big Sky WeddingBrylee Parrish had been left at the alter by a man she thought she loved. She had gotten over it but it felt as if she was just waiting for something to happen. Then she meets her new neighbor Zane and her heart starts beating a little faster.

Zane Sutton is taking a break from the Hollywood scene and back to his rodeo roots. He will be jaded when it comes to women but Zane will be changing his tune when he meets his neighbor Brylee. He will have to convince her that he will not be going back to Hollywood and was here to stay.

Big Sky Wedding is the fifth book to Linda Lael Miller’s series Parable, Montana. Now I did like the previous book with Casey and Walker but I would have to say that Brylee and Zane’s story was better. I was able to be drawn into the story more with these two characters. They were both broken or had their trust misguided at one point and were learning with each other. I guess I am a sucker for these types of characters.

Brylee was still bitter but not because of Hutch it was because she hadn’t found someone she wanted to be with. I liked Zane who was more down to earth actor which was because of how he was brought up. He had it tough but survived. They were both survivors which made them perfect for each other.

I am waiting for the next book Big Sky Secrets to be available to checkout which is with Landry and Ria.

A Small Town Sheriff Meets Hollywood

Reading Nora Roberts you always come up with a new plot and characters in each story she writes. In The Law is a Lady the small town sheriff will get a sight of Hollywood.

Victoria Ashton is the new sheriff as her father has passed away. She does her job the best she can but is this were she wants to be for the rest of her life? Victoria though will have a new challenge in her life when a out-of-towner comes into her small town.

Philip Kincaid is entertained being pulled over by a lady sheriff but not so much as he gets put into jail by her. Philip though soon forgets and knows this town is the perfect place for his movie they were going to film. The road block will be the sheriff but she could be one to get through with the power of seduction. Philip comes to the conclusion that the sheriff is the perfect lady for him and he always gets what he wants.

The story was sweet and simple with fun characters that carried through the entire novel. I liked how each character was something more than they appeared to be which gave depth to the novel. Roberts description let readers get right into the story with the very first page.

Devilishly Hot

You know picking up Kathy Love’s book there is going to be humor involved one way or another. I was excited to find she had a new series started, granted so far its only two books but a new one nevertheless.

Annie Lou Riddle found her dream job three years ago but its been hell literally. Working as the personal assistant to her boss costed her soul as the magazine was run by demons. Annie had seven more years to work off her contract or otherwise he soul was fore-fitted. If that is not bad enough a detective comes to the office investigating the disappearances of her bosses personal assistants all twenty one of them.

Detective Nick Rossi wasn’t thrilled with encountering the head woman Fionla but having the chance to meet the mystery woman Annie again thrilled him. It made matters worse that they could not be together but he wanted to solve the case and protect Annie the best he could which meant entertaining a demon.

Devilishly Hot was the first book of the series Hot. Love will entertain you once again with her witty and funny characters/plot. Once I started I was immediately taken back to the movie The Devil Wears Prada of course in this case the head boss really is collaborating with the Devil.

Annie was very much the naive character from a small town but changed in those three years. I liked that her character is growing in the book and the romance between Annie and Nick is sweet. You wanted them to have a happy ending right away. It was a little strange with Satan playing a role in the book but it was entertaining that Love adds him on the side.

You will be laughing at the antics and characters Love creates from the first page to the last. I liked that she is continuing the series with the same magazine adding in the demon hunters which will make their appearance in the book.

Devilishly Hot will have a final ending for the characters of Annie and Nick but the hunt is far from over.

Eloquent Silence

Lauri is dedicated at her job as a teacher of the deaf as her sister is deaf Lauri respects the language and does her best to continue to educate others. Lauri gets a job with a wonderful little girl, Jennifer, who is hearing-impaired but the father is less to be desired. As he is an actor Lauri wants to stay away from him due to her previous marriage. But Lauri will be drawn in by Drake and his daughter Jennifer.

Sandra Brown creates a heart wrenching story in Eloquent Silence.  You will be drawn in to the story right away and wonder about the past of Lauri and Drake. You will also be swept away by the little girl who you can’t help but love to read about. The trio will leave you frustrated and full of hope to when they will become a true family.

Eloquent Silence is a novel you will want to read.

Cordina’s Royal Family by Nora Roberts

This is the collection of the first three books about the Royal Family of Cordina. I took the chance on these three stories after I picked up the fourth and final book. I liked the fourth okay, but I went to look at these three.  It was fantastic.  Within this series Nora Roberts creates this whimsical, adventures, enduring, romantic characters and plot. Makes you sigh and jump for joy as love conquers all for those royal siblings.

Affaire Royale

Recently kidnapped Princess Gabriella has amnesia, but in the arms of bodyguard Reeve MacGee she finds a passion that’s unforgettable.

Since I read the last book first I found out about their daughter before I read about the parents. I loved this story as the beginning. It was cute, entertaining, and enduring. I loved seeing how Camille’s parents met. The Royal family is a delight.

Command Performance

Though His Royal Highness Alexander is destined to rule Cordina, it’s regal-and elusive-Eve Hamilton who rules his heart.

The second was so sweet and romantic. Both wanted each other but never went for it. Then fate gives them their chance only to have it more obstacles put in the way but not forever. It was funny, completely romantic story between them.

The Playboy Prince

Why is reserved Hannah Rothchild so intriguing to dedicated ladies man Prince Bennett? Is it her secret mission-or the fascinating lady herself?

The last story was lovely. I loved how reserved Hannah was and able to get the playboy Prince on his bend and knee for her. You knew there would be a happy ending but there were some bumps in the road.

The series of Cordina’s Royal Family was a delight to read.
