Lady Marianne Seaton had been jilted by a Duke but as the lady she was she made the most of it. She smiled towards society and moved on with her life. That life would soon change as her father had all but told her she would marry a man he picked out but the man that has Marianne wanting more was Elias Thorne.
Three Proposals and a Scandal looks to end the series Sons of Sin by Anna Campbell. Although, you never know if more will be written on this series. So I really liked this novella. I was wondering if Marianne would have her own story.
So the story is simple, Marianne is being courted by three men. Lord Desborough, the man her father wanted her to marry. Then there is Lord Tranter, who Marianne didn’t exactly trust. Lastly, was Elias Thorne who was the man Marianne didn’t want to want. He is of course the man that I was cheering for because he was not the fortune hunter everyone thought he was. Elias’s character was a man in love with Marianna. He loved her for the woman she was hiding, not for her fortune. I liked Marianne’s character. She was a dutiful daughter but there was another side to her than the good society miss. I liked that Campbell had Marianne fighting an inner battle inside her. She did not just fall into Elias’s arms and pledge her undying love. Elias has to work for it and Marianne had to learn to trust.
The other two suitors were the complete opposite of each other, one a villain and the other a good man. The villain was a horrible man and I liked how Campbell ended his story. There was then her father who almost was like a villain. He didn’t believe his daughter when she told him the truth. His pride was too strong but it wouldn’t be a line severed forever. So, I ended up really liking the good suitor and kind of hope that Anna Campbell writes a story where he will find the woman he can love. Though it that doesn’t happen I’m still very satisfied with how the story concluded.
Nell Trim was on a mission to stop the vile seducer that had left her half sister pregnant, which ended her life. Her goal was to get close to him to find the diary which had all the women the Marquess had ruined. Though when she meets Leath she can’t help but wonder if her sister had been wrong about her seducer.
Marquess of Leath, James Fairbrother, was on the road to become prime minister. He was very wary of scandal as he knew that would ruin his political career. Though when he meets Nell he will instantly want her, but he will not trust her as he knew she was up to something.
A Scoundrel by Moonlight is the fourth book to the series Sons of Sin by Anna Campbell. I really liked this book. It was filled with lust, love, a little mystery and of course betrayal.
In the previous book the Marquess seemed like a hard man and he is but he was only doing what he needed to protect his family. I liked that he lightened up especially when Nell came into his life. He became more carefree. Although reputation was still a big factor in his life. Nell’s character was a woman scorned. She wanted revenge. You can’t blame Nell for wanting revenge for her sister. You will find out quickly that all is not what it seems to be and Nell’s need for revenge is misguided.
The love/lust that is between Nell and James was done really well. There is an instant attraction between them but they don’t trust each other. That will change and with that change turns to love which was sweet. Although the scenes between them will get rather steamy.
So, I was wondering if there would be something happening with Marianne and Elisa who were at the end of this book. Well Anna Campbell has one more story to this series which is a novella that I will be reading next.
Lady Lydia Rothermere loved one man, Simon, and thought she had gotten over him but when she sees him again ten years later all the feelings come back. The problem is that Lydia is already engaged.
Simon Metcalf has loved one woman for over ten years but was forced to leave her. He will be back thanks to her brother and will do everything he can to make sure she becomes his wife.
Days of Rakes and Roses is a novella, 1.5, in the series Sons of Sin by Anna Campbell. I really liked this novella. I thought it was a sweet love story.
Lydia’s character ten years ago had been a young woman in love but scared to go against her father. She grows up to be a demure woman and all the life was almost drained out of her because she was playing the good society miss. I liked that her brother dragged Simon back to shake things up and to make his sister happy. Simon’s character was a man who was in love but scared because if he pursued that love his family would be ruined, along with the girl. I liked that Campbell moved the story ten years later because the characters were more mature and the love that they felt was not just puppy love.
I am reading the fourth book next which is with Jamie Fairbrother.
Caroline, Lady Beaumont was a widow just coming out of mourning and she wanted to live her life. Caroline was on the hunt for a lover. All she wanted was a fling, nothing serious which was why she didn’t want anything with Silas. She knew that with Silas she could fall in love.
Silas Nash, Viscount Stone, has been in love with Caroline since his sister brought her to tea. He wanted to make her his wife but he had to convince her to take a chance on marriage again.
The Seduction of Lord Stone is the first book to the series Dashing Widows by Anna Campbell. I liked this novella. I thought it was a good start to a series which most likely will be a trilogy. Three woman who are all widows. Two of them hated being married to their spouses and one had found love and loss when he died. They are all realizing that they have to live again and it will be Caroline first.
I liked Caroline’s character. She was a woman who was lively then became almost a shell of herself because she stopped being happy for ten years. She is going to live again and find a lover. I liked that she was finding that courage to live again but I thought she was hurting herself with not trying to find real love especially with Silas. Silas’s character was a man who found love at first sight. I liked that he was Caroline’s friend but he needed to step up to get her attention. Don’t worry it will happen and it will get steamy when they find that passion.
So as said above in this novella there are two friends of Caroline and you know that their stories will be told. I am looking forward to when those books will be out, especially with Helena and West.
Bess Farrar was the vicar’s daughter and was used to helping the villagers in the small town. She will find herself with a problem when the new earl comes to their town as he was not writing her any reply’s to her letters. Bess will take it upon herself and meet the new earl only to be shocked at the instant attraction to him.
Lord Channing, Rory, just inherited his brothers earldom. He liked his life as a captain but knew that his life had to change. Rory will do his duty and take over. He will find that the task will not be such a hardship especially when he meets Bess.
A Pirate for Christmas is a novella from Anna Campbell. I really liked this novella. I thought that it was a fun Christmas story filled with lust, love, and some humor.
The character of Bess was a strong woman as she helped everyone in the village, but there is a sensual side to Bess. That side was not know to her until she meets Rory. When it comes to Rory she is unsure, although she has no need to be unsure of Rory’s feelings. So then there is the character of Rory who was a man that was not used to the privileged life. I liked that about him because he was not stuck up and had a good sense of humor. He was also very sensual when it comes to Bess.
This lust which is really love between the characters was sweet throughout the book. Its funny that with the books that I have read from Campbell the scenes are very steamy, but this was almost PG rated between them. That was not a problem for me. I liked that in this novella a romance builds.
So, I decided to keep going with Anna Campbell’s books and I will be reading The Seduction of Lord Stone next.
Lynette wanted to take charge of her life and went to a woman who would help get her a husband. Lynette will not be prepared for what she will be walking into when she meets this woman and her nephew, Viscount Marlock. She will be stepping into a darker world which she will have to embrace if she wanted to succeed.
Viscount Marlock, Adrian, has been taking a young woman, teach her and sell her to an aging suitor. That was how he was making a living to raise funds for his crumbling estate. Adrian will quickly realize that Lynette was not like the other woman. He will be tempted but to give into the temptation he will lose all that he had worked for.
Devil’s Bargain is the third book to the series Regency Rages to Riches by Jade Lee. I was shocked by this book. I really did love it but from how the other two were written this one was darker with character cruelty on Adrian’s and his aunts side. But it was compelling to read and I needed there to be a happy ending for all the cruelty that had occurred.
So the story is basically about Lynette being led to a new life where she will be sold to the highest bidder, who will be an old man. Adrian will guide her in this training along with his aunt. So I really liked Lynette. She was a woman who had passion but didn’t understand that. She was also very emotional throughout the book, she was strong at one point and weak the next. There were points in the book that I was getting teary eyed for Lynette with what she had to endure. Adrian’s character was one that I really disliked right away but then knew that there had to be a redeeming trait in him. There was but he kept going back and forth between a man you wanted to cheer for to a man you wanted to hate. I was happy that Lee put in more about his past so that you understood him.
The ending was perfect and Lee did it with a good twist that changed everything.
